The Forgotten Sister 13

“Was this game made by vampires or someone who knew about vampires?”Bella asked as she watched Kate’s video game character rip the spine out of his opponent. The pair along with Emmett were playing video games while Rosalie, Irina and Alice were teaching Athenodora about cell phones. The rest of the group that consisted of Jasper, Heidi, Tanya, Carmen and Eleazar were talking about random things while the tv played a movie in the background. It was one of the most peaceful days Bella had since she had escaped the castle and she was letting herself enjoy it. Many things were going to be happening after they made contact with the Irish coven and Bella knew time spent relaxing was going to be rare.

“What do you mean?”Kate asked.

“Well earlier your character ripped the other man’s heart out, now he is ripping his spine out. Those are all things that a vampire would do when hunting a human if they were feeling especially vicious.”Bella said.

“That oddly makes sense.”Emmett could see why Bella would think such a thing.

“I personally think that some humans are just messed up and come up with this stuff on their own.”Irina said.

“That’s true. Look at some of the serial killers we know about. Most did depraved things to their victims.”Rosalie had no problem believing humans were vicious creatures. The events that led to her turning being proof of that.

“There are also the things humans come up with for books, movies and tv shows. Some of them bad enough I can’t even get through.”Alice wasn’t a fan of anything that would be considered horror or had graphic depictions of murder and torture.

“I guess that vampires are human before they are turned so it would be feasible that some of their ideas followed over after the change.”Bella didn’t often think of vampires as humans but they were at one point.

“It makes me wonder how much of a vampire’s actions are influenced by vampire urges and not ones they had as a human that were just amplified when they turned.”Tanya thought that many vampires were just extreme versions of who they were when they were human.

“I think that most believe that being a vampire gives them the excuse to behave the way they always wanted to.”Eleazar had seen the way many of his kind used being a vampire as an excuse for their actions.

“I know Kate does.”Irina said.

“I don’t use being a vampire as an excuse to behave the way I do.”Kate never made any excuses for the way she acted.

“How many times have you broken something by being careless and blamed it on the fact you’re a vampire to justify it?”Irina had heard Kate constantly blame being a vampire for her carelessness and bad behavior.

“That’s different because it’s true.”Kate told her.

“If that was the case every vampire would just go around breaking everything they touched and not be careless.’Irina told her.

“It’s not my fault that I have increased strength.”Kate didn’t think it was fair of Irina to make her look bad because of something that she had no control of.

“I do as well but I don’t break even a tenth of what you do.”Irina pointed out.

“I also have problems with breaking things due to my shield if I don’t pay close attention to it.”Bella told her.

“Remember how pissed Caius was when you crushed his crown.”Athenodora had seen it happen and had to fight not to laugh at the pitiful man.

“That was you?”Heidi had heard of the incident but never knew the details.

“It was an accident.”Bella said.

“I don’t know much about your relationship with Caius but I highly doubt it was an accident.”Rosalie had seen how much the pair hated each other when the kings came to Forks. Add on the fact that Athenodora was being forced into a false mate bond and that both she and Bella killed him Rosalie knew that anything Bella did concerning Caius was most likely intentional.

“No it truly was an accident as I was actually trying to make him bald by pulling out his hair.”Bella had been hoping the crown would add in her mission to make Caius lose his blond locks.

Kate laughed the others joining in as well.”Why were you trying to pull his hair out?”

“Caius was obsessed with his hair. So obsessed that he carried a purse under his robes with haircare products and a mirror that he used to fix it throughout the day. He even had his shampoo and conditioner made by a guard members whose entire job was to keep up with the current trends and breakthroughs in hair care so Caius would have the best products.”Bella told them.

“His hair was one of the main things Bella would make comments to him about to piss him off.”Athenodora had brainstormed with her mate to come up with the best insults they could about the dead king’s hair.

“That wasn’t the only thing you commented about though. Your fights with Caius were legendary to those who knew of your existence.”Heidi had always enjoyed watching Bella put Caius in his place and him not being able to do anything about it.

“How many people knew about you?”Rosalie figured there had to be at least someone other than the kings and a few guard members that knew of Bella.

“In all my time in the castle I think I was introduced to other than the kings maybe a dozen vampires. All of them being gifted and I only met them so Aro could test my shield against them.”Bella never went out of her way to meet anyone in secret. Even the three guard members that she helped with the block had gone through Athenodora.

“And none of their gifts worked on you?”Eleazar asked.

Bella shook her head.”I am completely immune to all gifts both mental and physical.”

“That means you are pretty much invincible.”Emmett couldn’t imagine what he would do with that much power.”You can do anything you want and no-one can stop you.”

“It’s a wonder that you didn’t flee the kings a long time ago.”Alice said.

“The kings had been monitoring my sisters so if I actually left they would have killed them before I even had a chance to search for them.”Bella had thought about leaving everyday she had been at the castle but had never come up with a good enough plan that would guarantee the safety of not only her sisters but herself and Athenodora.

“That makes sense.”Jasper could see the kings acting against the sisters as soon as they realized Bella was gone.

“I also had no way to contact them because I couldn’t trust someone to deliver them a letter and I had no access to technology. Even if I did like I said my sisters were being monitored plus I had no way of figuring out their numbers or any of the other methods used to contact people in this modern age.”Bella had never even held a cell phone in her hand let only knew how to purchase one.

“It’s crazy to think you have been alive so long and you don’t know anything about the world that advanced around you.”Rosalie didn’t think she would be coping as well as Bella was to dealing with the culture shock she was most likely experiencing.

“I have learned about most things from watching movies and stealing magazines and newspapers from others in the castle. Dora was better about getting contraband than I was however.”Bella didn’t trust anyone of the people that knew about her to get her contraband and didn’t have any money or anything else to offer them in exchange for a favor.

“I only got things because of the other queens.”Athenodora went out of her way to never ask Caius for anything because when she did the man lorded his ownership over her anytime she did.

“How do you think the other queens are going to react to the king being killed?”Alice asked.

“Not well. Losing a mate is said to be a fate worse than death.”Eleazar said.

“I hate that it has to come to this but there really is no other way.”Athenodora didn’t want her friends to go through the heartache of losing not only their mates but having their lives change once they are no longer going to be queens.

“They will have to make many decisions on their future once the Irish coven take over.”Irina wondered if the queens would even want to stay in the castle. That or if the Irish coven would allow them to stay.

“It’s to bad that Chelsea had to be killed. She could have broken the bonds.”Heidi wasn’t a big fan of Chelsea but could see the advantages of using her gift at times. Only if the vampires it was used on were in agreement of course.

“You said before that her death wouldn’t make a huge difference in the castle. If it wasn’t her how did the kings keep everyone under their control?”Rosalie asked Bella.

“Most people who come to the castle to work for the kings do so because they think that they will get a bunch of respect and advantages by aligning with the rulers. In reality they are treated badly and gain nothing from doing so. The reason they stay however is fear. Aro has as policy that once you are member of the Volturi the only way to leave is death or permission and he usually never gives permission. He has killed enough people that the threat is valid and that keeps everyone in line.”Bella explained.

“It’s surprising he let me go.”Eleazar had never understood why Aro let him leave.

“He let you go so that he could use you to keep track of my sisters.”Bella said.

“What do you mean?”Tanya didn’t think that Eleazar had anything to do with their deal with the kings.

“One of Eleazar’s conditions for leaving was that he had to do regular check ins with the kings. By being a part of our coven it gave them regular reports of where you were and what you were doing. As matter of fact it was Marcus’ idea for you to join then when you brought your interest in the animal diet.”Bella had heard the plan during one of the many times she spied on the kings.

Eleazar thought about how he and Carmen chose to reach out to Tanya.”You know you’re right. Initially I was going to contact Carlisle as I was friendly with him already. That changed after a conversation with Marcus about how we would thrive more in a coven that had settled than with Carlisle who was basically a nomad at the time.”

“And by following his advice you unknowingly became a spy for the kings and kept me from being able to search out my sisters.”Bella wasn’t surprised that Eleazar and Carmen had been tricked. The kings always had an agenda when offer advice.

Noticing Eleazar and Carmen both looking guilty Tanya was quick to reassure them.”It’s not your fault and none of us blame you.”

“Yeah you couldn’t have known and once you found out about Bella you didn’t hesitate to uproot your lives to help protect us and her as well.”Irina wasn’t mad at the mated pair. It wasn’t their fault that the kings tricked them.

“You were both meant to be Denali. It all worked out in the end anyway. Bella is with us and we are going to get our revenge against the kings. It just took a little longer to do it.”Kate was of the same thought as her sisters. She blame the pair for how their lives turned out. It was the kings’ fault.

“I know it sounds selfish but I’m happy it turned out this way. If Bella had gotten away sooner we would have never have met you guys and would still have been at the mercy of Carlisle, Edward and Esme.”Rosalie knew it was wrong to feel glad someone was held captive but she couldn’t help when out led to her and her mates freedom.

“I personally believe in fate and it was fate that led to the events happening the way they did. I mean look at the way turned out. If Bella had been able to leave earlier she would haver of course taken me but we wouldn’t have had the change to get our revenge on the kings and the others that were involved in our imprisonment. Then we wouldn’t have been able to save not only you guys but Heidi and all the others that were under Chelsea’s influence. Plus we wouldn’t be able to free all those who are being held against their will by the kings. So even though I would have loved to have been living my life with Bella centuries ago I’m happy they way it turned out.”Athenodora wouldn’t have changed anything.

“When you put it like that it does seem like it was meant to happen like that.”Carmen couldn’t fault Athenodora’s thinking as the former queen made sense.

“An now we just have to deal with overthrowing the kings, putting the new rulers in their place and then stick around to secure their rule. After that we can finally start living our lives the we want to without fear of someone powerful trying to target us.”Bella said the rest of the group all voicing their agreements. Taking a moment to look around at everyone Bella felt confident that they would be able to succeed in follow through on that plan. The only thing that made her worry was how long they would have to stay in the castle to protect the Irish coven before they could leave. Bella desperately wanted to finally enjoy a peaceful life with her mate and family. They all deserved it after everything they went through. Even Heidi and the Cullen children. The Cullen children being four vampires that Bella had a feeling were going to be part of the family as well. Tanya had been dropping hints and making statements about them being good people and how much they would add to any coven they joined. Bella wasn’t against the idea but it would prefer not having to deal with the extra people. She spent most of her time very isolated from everyone and to have to interact with so many was exhausting. Especially because they look to her to lead them. Even her sisters did. It wasn’t something Bella wanted to do but if it made the others happy she would step into whatever role they needed her in. Be it protector, leader, sister, or friend.
