The Guardian's Angel 1

1933 Rochester, New York

The blond haired woman lay in the empty street bloody and broken after having been beaten and violated. She had become accustom to the overwhelming pain and now she felt impatient for Death to visit her. She knew there was no help coming to save her and she would die out here alone. What came after death she had no clue but it couldn’t be worse than what she had just experienced. All she wanted was the pain and agony to stop. Suddenly a bright light came moving towards her and she was positive that she was seeing a glimpse of heaven. It was as the light stood before her that she realized it wasn’t actually a place but a person. A beautiful woman with translucent white hair, wearing white robes knelt next to the dying woman. The woman’s appearance was enough to make anyone stare but it was the large white and silver feathered wings that caused awe to replace the despair that the dying woman had felt.

“I know that you think this is the end but I am here to tell you it is not.” the women said.

“What are you?” Blood spilled from the blond woman’s mouth as she asked.

“I am an angel and I am so sorry you had to go through this.” The angel’s voice held nothing but regret. “I want you to know that if there had been any other way I would have found it. I didn’t want you to have to suffer so much.”

“What do you mean?” If this wasn’t the angel of death then why was she here.

“I mean that this is the end of your human life but it is not the end of your life completely. Many things are going to be revealed to you in the next few days but I promise that if you just wait that everything you have ever went through during your short lifetime will be worth it.” The angel sounded so sure the blond woman could do nothing but believe her. “Your prays have been heard and when the time is right all that you wish for will eventually come to you.”

The sound of voices made the angel’s head snap up. As she moved to stand up the blond woman clutched her hand tighter. “Don’t leave me.”

“I will never leave you.” The angel promised. “Even when you feel all alone I will be there to protect you even when you don’t think you need it.”

As she watched the angel disappear the blond woman felt an overwhelming feeling of peace wash over her body. No matter what happened next she wouldn’t be alone and that’s all that mattered.

Present Day:

Rosalie opened her eyes and looked at her mate as she heard her call her name. She had been going over the last moments of her human life. She often wondered if she would ever see the angel again. At times she wondered if the event even happened and she hadn’t just hallucinated the whole thing. Rosalie knew she hadn’t though. Although she had never physically seen her she had felt the angel’s presence. There were many times when she would hide herself away and sob tears that would never fall and would feel comforted by an unseen presence that she would never be able to explain to anyone. Rosalie had never spoken a word of the initial meeting to any one not even her mate. She didn’t know why but felt like it was something she had to keep to herself. That was easy for her because even though her brother was a mind reader Rosalie was able to block his gift with her own gift being a shield. It was a rare gift amongst vampires but Rosalie had a feeling it was simply an extension of the help the angel promised her.

“Did you say something?” Rosalie asked Tanya. Her mate was looking at her in concern.

“I asked you if you wanted to go hunting with us?” Tanya was worried for Rosalie. It wasn’t unusual that Rosalie would space out and get lost in her own thoughts but it had been happening more than usual lately. Tanya wished she would tell her what she was thinking about but every time Tanya brought it up Rosalie would give vague answers. When they had first been mated Tanya would often times feel insecure that Rosalie didn’t trust her but after talking to Carlisle she learned that Rosalie had been that way since she had been turned. They all figured it was because of the horrific events that led to Rosalie becoming a vampire.

“No I think I’m going to go work my car. I got new parts the other day that I want to install.” Rosalie told her.

Tanya gave her a kiss on the cheek. “Ok find me when you finish.”

Rosalie nodded as she made her way to the garage. She really did have new parts for her project car but really she just wanted some time to herself. Her garage was the perfect place for that because others didn’t usually bother her there. After putting on her overalls she went about unpacking the parts and laying out the tools she needed. The actions help to calm her mind as she focused on the specifics of what she needed.

“I’ve been thinking a lot about you today.” Rosalie had taken to talking to angel when she was in private. She didn’t know how but she knew the angel always listened even if she wasn’t physically there. “The night we met was so horrible but you being there made everything ok. I hope you know how thankful I am that you saved me that night. I honestly thought you were crazy for saying that it would all be worth it in the end but you were right. I got my revenge. I’m not sure you approved of my methods but it did help with my healing. Then after those few hard years when I thought about giving up I remember you being with me encouraging me in your silent way. It wasn’t until I met Tanya that I realized you were right. It was all worth it. The amount of happiness I have felt since I met her is more than I ever thought I would experience.”

Rosalie ignored the parts and tools in front of her and took a seat on the couch in the corner of the garage. “I know I should be grateful for everything I have but I still find myself feeling somewhat empty inside. You promised me that I would have everything I ever wanted and so far you have fulfilled that promise. Once again I don’t want to sound ungrateful it’s just I find myself wishing I could have a child. I always wanted to be a parent. To love a child better than my parents loved me was my dream. I find myself jealous of the mothers I see spending time with their children. I know Tanya feels like she is doing something wrong because she feels my unhappiness but I don’t know what to tell her. I wish there was a way to make this longing go away.”

Rosalie sobbed as she felt unseen arms wrap around her body. Knowing the angel was there and understood her pain comforted her but it didn’t lesson the pain. She wasn’t sure how long she sat their sobbing but eventually she heard footsteps making their way to the garage door. Pulling herself together she smiled when she felt a pair of lips kiss her forehead. Even though she couldn’t see her to know she had the support meant the world to Rosalie.

“Hey Rosalie are you done?” Alice’s voice called from the doorway. Walking up to Rosalie her eyebrows furrowed. “Are you ok?”

Rosalie gave her what she hoped was a convincing smile but by the look on Alice’s face she had failed miserably. “Yeah I’m fine just frustrated that they sent me the wrong part.”

“Ok.” Alice didn’t quite believe Rosalie but knew not to push the blond vampire. Rosalie would talk when she wanted to talk and wouldn’t respond well to being pushed. “I just wanted to tell you that we have to leave soon for school so you need to get ready.”

“Thank you Alice, I admit I lost track of the time.” Rosalie ignored Alice’s worried looks and made her way to her room. Maybe a day of being around humans would take her mind off of things. Rosalie wondered what the angel thought of her confession. Was there anything that she could actually do to help Rosalie? Rosalie was sure if there was that she would. She had always been there for her so maybe now wouldn’t be different.
