Reluctant Mate 2

“Remember no matter what happens you are not to let go of my hand.”Rosalie told Bella.The pair along with Edward and Alice were following Jane through the Volturi castle on their way to meet the queens.Rosalie had pulled Bella as close as she could to keep her away from not only the many red eyed vampires they passed but from Edward’s attempts to take Bella from her.The idiot boy couldn’t get it through his head that Bella wasn’t his mate and his many tries to get Bella to go to him were pissing Rosalie off.Then there was the fact that Edward kept growling at the random castle inhabitants.Rosalie knew they had been lucky so far but if Edward kept it up someone was going to take offense and attack them.

“I know.”Bella didn’t have to be reminded.There was no way she was leaving Rosalie’s side.

“Welcome the queens are waiting for you.”A human woman sitting behind a desk told them.

“Open the doors.”Jane told the two vampires flanking an expensively decorated set of doors.

“Well done Jane.We sent you out for one and you bring us back four.”A woman with black hair done up in a French twist wearing a dark blue gown straight out of the 1500’s said as the group entered the room.Locking eyes with the woman Bella immediately felt like the world had righted itself.Like she had lived her whole life in black and white and by looking into the woman’s eyes she finally could see color.

“Nooooo!”Edwards screamed as he heard the queen’s thoughts.He rushed towards Bella only to be grabbed by the blond haired queen and slammed to the floor.

“You will not attack her.”The blond bared her teeth at Edward.

“I will keep her away from you!!”Edward growled out.

“Alright everyone calm down.”The original speaker held up her hands in a non threatening manner.”No one is going to harm any of you if you don’t attack.”

“Alec if you would.”The blond queen motioned to Edward.

“Of course my queen.”When the blond haired boy focused his attention on Edward the animal drinker’s body went limp.

“Now that that is out of the way.Introductions are in order.I am Sulpicia Volturi.These are my mates and fellow queens Didyme and Athenodora.”Sulpicia waved her hand to each of the women.

Didyme smiled brightly at Bella.”Hello young one.”

“Uh.”Bella wasn’t sure what to think.She had thought Sulpicia was the most beautiful woman she had ever seen but now looking at Didyme she wasn’t so sure.Looking into her red eyes caused the same feeling of belonging as it did with Sulpicia and out of pure curiosity she looked to Athenodora only to find she felt the very same thing.

“Oh she’s shy.”Athenodora cooed.

“We will have to work with her on that.”Sulpicia said.

“What is happening?”Bella whispered in Rosalie’s ear.

Rosalie shrugged.”I don’t know.”

“Is Edward dead?”Bella wanted to make sure before she let herself celebrate.

“Would you like him to be?”Didyme asked.

“Yes.”Bella quickly replied.

“Bella!!”Alice yelled in outrage.

Athendora laughed loudly.”Oh you are definitely meant for us.”

“Excuse me?”Bella really wasn’t sure what was going on but she thought she should be scared.It was obvious Alice was and Rosalie was at least nervous.Bella however felt comfortable with the queens.She didn’t think they would hurt her.

“Don’t worry we will get to that.First we have some questions.”Sulpicia took a seat on her throne.”My love you can calm down the boy isn’t going anywhere.”

“Oh he is going somewhere and when he gets there he is going experience pain.”Athenodora promised.

“Can’t you just kill him and be done with it?”Bella was really hoping that Edward would die and she wouldn’t have to worry about him anymore.

“Bella.”Rosalie scolded.Well she tried to but couldn’t manage to stop the laughter that came with Bella’s request.

“You really don’t like the boy do you?”Sulpicia asked.

“I hate him and fear him killing me.”Bella told them.

“He wouldn’t kill his mate.”Alice took a step back when all three queens growled at her.

“You dare claim a false mate bond in front of us?!”Athenodora’s voice thundered through the room.

Rosalie wasn’t exactly sure what was going to happen but decided that being as far away from Alice was probably the best idea.Pointing to the other side of the room she whispered in Bella’s ear.”Move that way.”

“No problem.”Bella easily agreed.She could see the danger Alice was in and was thinking the same thing Rosalie was.Get as far away from Alice as they could.

“It is not false.My own mate confirmed it.”Alice knew the truth and that gave her the confidence to speak.

“You would believe an empath over a vampire that has the gift to see bonds physically?”Didyme asked.

“You can’t see Bella’s bonds because she is human.Jasper has felt what Edward feels around Bella and confirms it is the feelings of a mated vampire.”Alice said.

Didyme raised an eyebrow.“Who told you I couldn’t see a human’s mate bond?”

“It’s a fact that humans can’t feel the bond fully until they are turned.It’s because of that their bonds don’t fully form and you can’t see them.That is also the reason why Bella doesn’t think Edward is her mate.”Alice explained.

“I’m not Edward’s mate because I hate him, am afraid of him and am a lesbian.”Bella was sick of this argument.Maybe if she was lucky the queens would kill Alice as well.She was the biggest supporter of Edward’s mate claim.

“You enjoy the company of women?”Athenodora asked with a big smile on her face.

“I do but even if I didn’t I would never willingly be with Edward.I don’t even like the fact that we are in the same room right now.”Bella would actually prefer if they kicked Edward out of the room while the queens told them what they wanted with them.

“Well we should fix that then.”Sulpicia motioned towards Edward.”Bring him to me so that I can read him.”

Bella watched as the queen took Edward’s hand in her own and closed her eyes.”What is going on?”

“Sulpicia has the ability to know a person’s every thought just by touching them.”Rosalie told her.

“I can however it seems that might not be the case with you.”Sulpicia eyed Bella with interest.

“What do you mean?”Bella wasn’t quite sure what to make of the queen’s expression.

Sulpicia held out her hand.”Would you be so kind to allow me to touch you?”

“I guess.”Bella didn’t think she really had a choice.Taking a step towards the queen she reached out her hand and with the first touch of skin on skin Bella felt what felt like a bolt of electricity shoot through her body.Gasping she tried to drop the queen’s hand but Sulpicia held on.”What did you do to me?”

“I did nothing to you.”Sulpicia promised.”What you felt was completely natural as I’m sure at least Rosalie can attest to.”

“What happened?”Rosalie was holding herself back from pulling Bella away from the queen.

“When I touched her hand it felt like I was electrocuted.Not in a bad way though.It didn’t hurt it felt good.If that makes sense?”Bella was frustrated with not being able to explain it properly.

Rosalie’s eyes widened.She looked at Sulpicia and when the queen nodded Rosalie knew exactly what happened.”I think we are going to have to call Tanya.”

“What does Tanya have to do with this?”Bella asked.

“As this is a unique situation let us reconvene to our study.”Didyme suggested.

Athenodora motioned to Edward.”Throw him in the dungeon for now.”

“What you can’t do that!!He has done nothing wrong!!”Alice was held back from rushing to Edward.

“Oh yes, you are still here.”Sulpicia murmured.”Take her to the dungeon as well.She along with the rest of the Cullens will need to be questioned about the false mate claim they have all been supporting.”

“It’s not a false claim.”Alice screeched as the guards grabbed her and dragged her from the room.

“Well now that that is settled we can move on to the fun stuff.”Athenodora wiggled her eyebrows at Bella chuckling when Bella blushed.

“My queens as you said this is a unique situation and because of that I would like to ask if my mate can join us.I told her about our plans to come here and she said she would leave immediately to meet up with us.I suspect that she is here by now and probably frantic with worry.”Rosalie knew that Victoria was already plotting a way to rescue her and Bella from the castle and wanted to save her from getting into trouble.

“That is perfectly acceptable.You may call her and your coven leader and invite them to the castle.”Sulpicia said.

Rosalie bowed her head.”Thank you your majesty.”

“You are most welcome.”Sulpicia motioned to a closed door.”Why don’t you use that room to make your call.When you are done join us in my office.”

“You will be fine with them I promise.”Rosalie assured Bella when the girl looked at her in confusion.

“Are you sure?”Bella asked.

“I’m positive.I will be with you as soon as possible.”Rosalie told her.

“Come Bella leave Rosalie to her phone calls.”Athenodora held out her hand for Bella smiling brightly when Bella took it willingly.

Rosalie sighed as she made her way into the room the queen told her to go to.She was not looking forward to the calls she was about to make.Her mate was already pissed at the situation and Rosalie knew when she called Tanya her coven leader was going to try to reach through the phone to rip Rosalie’s head off.Rosalie couldn’t blame her though.If things didn’t turn out the way they did she would have been responsible for putting Bella in extreme danger.Even though they were safe it was going to take Rosalie a lot of groveling to get forgiveness from her loved ones.She deserved no less.
