“So what should we do first?”Bella shifted uncomfortably when all eyes focused on her after Tanya asked her question.The pair along with the rest of the group that traveled with them were standing around the front entrance of the fair grounds having just handed over their tickets.Bella had tried to pay for her own but everyone in the group minus Garrett and Emmett had offered to pay for her.After some arguing Tanya had just paid for everyone.Bella was honestly surprised that the group got anything done with the amount of conflicts she had witnessed on the trip.Just that morning there was a fight over who was going to make Bella’s breakfast.Irina and Kate had both wanted to the latter claiming to have watched some videos online and wanted to try out her skills.Bella didn’t have any faith that Kate would be any better than Irina and told them she only wanted some toast with jam.The disappointment was obvious but Bella couldn’t bring herself to skip another meal.

“I don’t have anything I want to do specifically.What does everyone else want to do?”Bella asked.

“I want to play some games.”Winning a prize for Bella was part of the list of things Rosalie had planned for their day.She researched things to do on a date to a fair and had already came up with excuses for her and Bella to be left alone.If things worked out perfectly Rosalie would be receiving a kiss at the top of the ferris wheel from Bella once it got dark out.She thought that she had been making good progress with Bella.Especially when Bella had sought Rosalie out in her sleep and laid half on top of Rosalie with Rosalie holding her the whole night.In the morning Rosalie had pretended to still be asleep when Bella woke up so Bella wasn’t embarrassed by her actions.Seeing Bella blush as soon as they made eye contact that morning had made Rosalie positive that by the end of the day she would earn her kiss.

“Bella are you hungry?You didn’t eat dinner and only had toast for breakfast.”Irina was worried about Bella’s food intake because from she had read humans needed a certain amount of calories a day to be healthy.Irina had ordered a few books on nutrition and the human body and was planning on borrowing some of Carlisle’s medical books so she could be better prepared to take care of Bella’s needs.It was her duty as Bella’s mother to make sure she was healthy.

“I’m not that hungry but if I see something good I’ll eat.”Bella told her.

“I want to see you eat fried butter.”Kate had gone through the fair website and learned about all the attractions and different food vendors.Some of the things that were offered she couldn’t even wrap her head her around.Kate was just hoping her niece would be willing to try things for her.

“I don’t think that is very healthy.”Tanya didn’t know much about human food but knew enough to know that eating a stick of butter fired in oil wasn’t good for the human body.

“It’s a fair Tanya.It’s one of the places that you get a free pass to eat as unhealthy as you want.”Emmett was of the same thought as Kate.He was hoping Bella would try a few food items he was interested in.

“I doubt there is anything healthy here anyway.”Alice said.

“So what are we doing?”Garrett asked getting everyone back on track.

“Unless anyone has other ideas I say we go play some games.”Tanya suggested.

“I can’t wait to swindle the swindlers.”Kate was going to go out of her way to win every game she played.

“I’m going to win you the biggest prize they have.”Rosalie promised Bella.She took her place walking at Bella’s side trying to think of a way to get Bella to let her hold her hand.

“It’s ok if you don’t win a prize.”Bella thought it was adorable that Rosalie wanted to win something for her but didn’t want Rosalie to be disappointed if she wasn’t able to.

“I’m winning a prize.”Rosalie wasn’t going to rest until she did.

“Do you want me to win you a prize as well sweetheart?”Tanya asked Irina.

Irina smiled as she took Tanya’s hand in her own.”I would never miss the opportunity to see you show off.”

“Then Rosalie better be prepared for disappointment because for you I will win the biggest prize.”Tanya smiled when she heard Rosalie huff.

“I think we should start with the dart game.”Emmett knew that it was a hard game for humans and wanted to show off a little bit.He didn’t get the chance to that often.

“I totally want that huge rubber duck.”Kate was already planning on testing it out in the hotel pool.Walking up to the booth she pulled out some cash.”What do I have to do to win the big duck?”

“You have to pop five of the red balloons to get the duck.”The game operator told her.

“Alright give me five darts.”Kate handed him the cash in exchange for the darts.

“I’ll take five as well.”Emmett wanted his own duck so he could race it against Kate’s.Taking the five darts he stood next to Kate and let them fly easily popping the five red balloons.

“Fuck yeah.”Kate cheered when she broke five of her own.She turned to the employee.”We will take two ducks please.”

“Oh..yeah..sure..”The man stuttered out looking wide eyed at the pair.

Kate happily took her duck and held it in the air.”I am the duck queen.”

“What does being a duck queen entail?”Alice asked as she took Emmett’s duck from him.

“As the duck queen it is my job to act in the best interested of all the ducks in the world.In return my subjects will be build statues and temples in honor of me.Both girl and boy baby ducks will be given names such as Katerina, Katy, Katherine and other versions of the name Kate.I will be a benevolent ruler and loved and respected by my people.”Kate told her.

“Since I have also won a duck I think I should be in charge of the duck army.That way I can lead the ducks in battle against the enemies of the kingdom.”Emmett said.

Kate made a motion with her arm mimicking a sword landing on Emmett’s shoulder.”I hereby declare you Knight of the Duck Kingdom.”

“I always thought of you as my knight in shining armor.Now it’s just official.”Alice was going to make some costumes for Kate and Emmett when they got back home.She knew that it would irritate Edward and there was nothing that she and the others with her loved more than irritating Edward.

“Bella do you want a Duck?”Rosalie really didn’t want to get pulled into Kate and Emmett’s nonsense but if Bella wanted to then she would support it.

“No I’m good.”Bella wasn’t interested in being a part the spectacle that Emmett and Kate were going to make of the joke.

“Let’s try a different game then.”Rosalie was trying to find one that had a romantic gesture worthy prize.

“Finally Bella I’ve been waiting forever for you to get here.”An old woman in her 80’s wearing modern clothing said as she appeared in front of Bella.”Funny I thought you would be a little bigger.”

“Whatever you are selling I’m not buying.”Bella mumbled walking right through the ghost.She shivered at the coldness that came from the manifestation of the spirit.

The woman reappeared in front of Bella.“Bella I need your friend Kate’s help.”

“So now you guys are coming to get me to have my friends help you?”Bella could already imagine the headache this was going to cause.

“Did you say something?”Rosalie heard Bella speaking but didn’t want Bella to know about her supernatural hearing.

“I was just voicing my annoyance at a bug that flew in my face.”Bella replied.

“Alright.”Rosalie wasn’t sure why Bella was lying but would wait until Bella was ready to tell her what was going on.If she pushed Bella wouldn’t react well.

Alice blinked a couple times not understanding what she had just seen.”Why did I just have a vision of Kate purposely breaking one of the rides?”

“What did you do?”Tanya demanded as she stopped walking and faced Kate.

Kate held up her hands and took a few steps back.”I have no clue what Alice is talking about.I’m not going to break anything.”

“Bella do you know anything about this?”Irina had also heard Bella speaking to the ghost and figured that this had to do with that.

Bella glared at the ghost who looked entirely too smug in Bella’s opinion.”I may have some idea of what’s going on.”

“Well what is it?”Garrett asked.

“What do you want?”Bella asked.

“I was told you were kind of moody.”The woman grumbled.”What I want is for you to have your friend Kate break one of the rides for me.”

“How would Kate be able to break a ride?”Bella didn’t think Kate would be able to do anything to the rides.

“By using her gift.”The woman told her.

Bella turned her attention to Kate.”You have a gift?”

“It’s not like it’s a secret but I can create electricity with my finger tips.”Kate didn’t mind telling Bella.She would find out eventually.

The woman motioned to Kate.“Tell her that she needs to practice more if that’s all she thinks she can do.”

“Apparently you need to practice more if that’s all you think you can do.”Bella said.

“What are you talking about?”Tanya asked.

“Kate’s gift is so much more than just creating electricity with her fingertips.”The woman explained.”I’m not the one with the information that’s Richard.Someone who will more than likely be visiting soon now that Ralph’s task is almost complete.”

”The woman whose name I don’t know.”Bella began before the ghost cut her off.

“It’s Emma.”Emma told her.

“Sorry Emma.”Bella corrected before continuing.”Has explained that Kate’s gift isn’t just creating electricity with her fingertips.However she doesn’t know anymore than that.A ghost named Richard is going to visit once Ralph’s case is done and give us more information.”

“What the fuck?!”Kate wasn’t sure what to think.Mostly she was just excited that her gift was more powerful than she thought.That brought up something.”Why didn’t Eleazar pick up on it?”

“His gift only identifies surface powers.Like with Maggie of the Irish Coven.Her gift is more than just a lie detector.”Emma said.

”Eleazar’s gift only identifies the surface level of the gift.Emma then said something about a woman named Maggie of the Irish coven being more than just a lie detector.”Bella didn’t understand what any of that meant.Nor did she want to.

“What does Maggie have to do with any of this?”Tanya may not know how Bella’s gift worked but from what she had been told and witnessed the ghosts only gave information if it was important for Bella to know.That meant the Irish coven was brought up for a reason.

“Tell her that the Irish coven will be key in keeping her daughter safe in the future.”Emma said.

“She says that the Irish coven will be key to keeping your daughter safe in the future.”Bella told her.

“What you know about this danger?”Irina didn’t like hearing Bella was in danger.Danger that they would have to involve another vampire coven in.

Emma shrugged.”That’s all I was told to pass on.Now can we please get to Kate helping me?”

“That’s all she was told to pass on.”Bella was pleased that there was no more cryptic information to tell them.

“You said a man named Richard is going to come help Kate with her gift.Does that mean others will come to help as well?”Tanya hoped they would because as it was the ghosts were giving them better leads than Alice had.

“Probably but really Kate needs to hurry up this is time sensitive.”Emma said.

“She said probably and that what she needs Kate’s help with is time sensitive.”Bella told them.

“Don’t worry I’m ready to help.”Kate was very excited that a ghost came specifically to get her help.It was the perfect first step in convincing Bella to start a detective agency with her.

“Alright so there is ride that is broken.The people who own the rides know about it but have failed to fix it.My granddaughter is set to ride it this afternoon and I fear that if she does it will break and she will be hurt.”Emma explained.

“So you want Kate to short the electrical to wreck it enough that it will have to be fixed.”Bella concluded.

“If Kate does it right they will just scrap the whole thing.”Emma said.

Bella turned her attention to the group.”Ok here’s what’s going on.There is a ride that the owners are purposely not fixing and Emma believes that it will likely break soon and people will get hurt.What she wants Kate to do is use her gift to fry the electrical system to the point that the machine is unable to be fixed and the owners decide to just scrap it.”

“Hell yeah I can do that.”Kate would happily use her gift to save some human lives.

“I don’t like the idea of Kate destroying things but it is for a good cause.”Tanya figured if Kate had to break something at least it was for something positive.

“We need to distract the operator while Kate does her thing.”Bella told them.

“This is so great.”Emmett was excited to be helping another ghost.Solving murders and saving humans made him feel like a vigilante.It was probably the closest he would ever get to being a superhero.

“That’s the ride.”Bella pointed to a ride that consisted of a bunch of swings flying through the air.

“If Kate messes with it will it electrocute the people in the seats?”Alice asked in concern.

Bella shook her head.”No they are grounded for electricity in case of lighting.”

“I’ll go distract the operator.”Emmett volunteered.

“I’ll go with Kate to act as a look out with Emma.”Bella said.

“I’ll go with you.”Rosalie wasn’t going to let her mate go off and do something dangerous without her there to protect her.

“Come on then Emmett has the guy’s attention.”Bella didn’t wait for any replies and just started walking to the small shed that had the electrical box.Getting a thumbs up from Emma she opened the door.”It’s in there.Try to be quick because once it’s done someone is going to come check to see what happened.”

“Don’t worry I go this.”Kate assured her.Making her way into the shed Kate had to stop herself from whistling a happy tune.She never got the chance to use her gift to help people and it made her feel good to be able to.Focusing on the circuit box she put her hand on it and pushed her gift to full strength only to jump back when it caught on fire.Deciding to get out of their quickly she rushed out the door grabbed Bella by the arm and ran as fast she could without someone getting suspicious away from not only the shed but all the rides as well.

“Are you alight.”Rosalie asked Bella as soon as the trio stopped behind one of the many buildings.Bella was breathing heavily and there was a sheen of sweat covering her face and neck.

Bella took a moment to get her breathing under control.”I need to get into to shape if I keep hanging out with you guys.”

“Should we get you a drink?”Now that the excitement was over Kate was feeling stupid for not realizing that Bella couldn’t run that fast.She should have just picked Bella up not dragged her with her.

“Yeah let’s get you a drink.”Rosalie said.

“Good idea.”Bella thought a drink sounded wonderful.

“Once we find a place I’ll text the others to meet up with us.”Kate wasn’t looking forward to hearing Tanya and Irina’s lecture of not remembering Bella’s human limitations but thought she would get a pass for getting Bella away from the danger.

“Do you think we could find some lemonade?”Bella asked.

“If lemonade is what you want lemonade is what you’ll get.”Rosalie would make sure Bella got herself some lemonade even if she had to run two states over to get it.Taking a chance Rosalie held her hand out for Bella smiling brightly when Bella took it in her own.Not wanting to bring attention to it Rosalie quietly walked by Bella’s side.The day was turning out alright but she really wanted to win Bella a prize.Maybe after Bella got a drink and they took a break to let her rest Rosalie could convince everyone to try out the games again.Then she would have to work out when to put her plan to ditch the chaperones into effect.Tanya and Irina were going to want to experience the fair with Bella but once it got dark out Rosalie was going to make sure Bella and her got their ferris wheel ride.It didn’t matter what obstacles were in the way she was going to have the perfect romantic first kiss with her mate and if she didn’t then she wasn’t above kidnapping Bella to spend the day alone with her the next day.Alice could easily be bribed to keep their location a secret.It wouldn’t take much either.Her sister was always on her side.
