“Hello, you must be Alice.”Isabella said as she held out her hand for the small vampire to shake after Alice had opened the door to the Cullen home.When the black haired girl just stared at her in confusion Isabelle smiled brightly which seemed to unnerve Alice.It seemed that whatever was wrong with Alice was concerning enough for a sandy blond haired boy to quickly come to her side.Isabella simply moved her hand to extend to the newcomer.”You must be Alice’s coven mates.I’m Isabella.”

“Uhm.”Jasper wasn’t sure exactly what was going on.He heard Rosalie on the phone with Alice but didn’t understand how and why Isabella was at their door.

“This is the part where you invite me in and tell me why your family has been stalking me.”Isabella told them in a stage whisper.

That seemed to shake Alice out of her stupor.”Why don’t you come in?”

“Thank you Alice.”Isabella followed Alice into the house not at all concerned that Jasper was following behind them.

“Have a seat.”Alice motioned to the couch that was the center point of the living room.

Isabella happily took the seat and smiled again when Alice and Jasper simply stared at her.”How about you two take a seat as well.Rosalie will be here soon and I want some answers before she gets here.”

“You know Rosalie?”Jasper asked as he took a seat in a chair that would make it easy for him to block the main entrance incase Isabella wanted to flee.He wasn’t sure why but he felt that the human was somehow dangerous. Not that he could feel her emotions to pick up on any aggression.The facts that his gift didn’t work on her was another thing that had him on edge.

“Oh, yeah.Rosalie and I are great friends.”Isabella said.

Alice wasn’t sure that she believed Isabella as Rosalie had sounded panicked when she called.”Is that right?”

“Yes, although I fear I don’t know her as well as she knows me.That is probably because I haven’t been stalking her in my free time like she has me.”Isabella told them.

“She hasn’t been stalking you.She has been protecting you.”Jasper said.

“See here’s the thing.I want to believe you.I truly do but I can’t until you tell me what she’s protecting me from.”Isabella needed the two of them to tell her quickly because she knew Rosalie was going to burst through the door any second now.

“Edward of course.”Alice flinched at the growl she heard right before the door slammed open and Rosalie was standing in front of Isabella.

“Don’t say another word Alice.”Rosalie hissed as she stood over Isabella.

“Rosalie so good of you to join us.Did you have a nice walk in the woods?”Isabella wasn’t intimidated by Rosalie.The vampire couldn’t hurt her so she wasn’t a threat.

Rosalie poked Isabella in the shoulder with her index finger as she growled.”You have a lot of explaining to do!”

“I see you are a little upset with how we parted.”Isabella grabbed Rosalie’s hand and pushed it away from her.

Rosalie growled louder when despite her effort she couldn’t overpower Isabella’s hand pushing hers away.”How did you do that?”

“I simply grabbed your hand and used my own to push it away.”Isabella told her.

“You know that isn’t what I meant.”Rosalie was about to grab Isabella by the collar when suddenly she felt a wave of calm come over her.

“Rosalie why don’t you take a seat and we can talk this out.”Jasper said. He was confused with Rosalie’s emotions because although she was annoyed and frustrated she was also happy and felt love when she looked at Isabella.He had a feeling that Rosalie had found her mate but the negative emotions were holding him back from confirming it.

“I’m not sitting down.”Rosalie wasn’t going to let down her guard again.Isabella may have gotten away once but she wasn’t going to a second time.

“Alright since Rosalie is insisting on throwing a tantrum will the pair of you please tell me why I need protection from Edward?”Isabella asked.

“I am not throwing a tantrum!!”Rosalie yelled.She was suddenly very embarrassed when she realized how loud she was.Huffing she decided to sit next to Isabella.Once seated she ignored how intoxicating her mate’s scent was.The fact that she sat right beside Isabella instead of on the other end of the couch was just because she didn’t want the non human to get away.At least that’s what she tried telling herself.

Isabella rolled her eyes at how close Rosalie was to her.It wouldn’t stop her from leaving but if it made Rosalie calm down Isabella would allow it.”Fine Rosalie isn’t throwing a tantrum.Now why is Edward dangerous?”

“You first need to answer our questions before we tell you anything.”Rosalie told her.

“Are we really going to do this again?If we are then I am just going to go find Edward and ask him myself why he is after me.”It wouldn’t be hard to find him either.All Isabella had to do was focus on him and she could teleport herself to his location.

“You will not be going anywhere near Edward.”Rosalie wasn’t going to allow it.

Ignoring Rosalie Isabella asked Alice.”Will you please tell me what’s going on?”

“Alice don’t say a word.”Rosalie warned.

“Rosalie, she has a right to know.”Alice turned her attention to Isabella.”Edward is convinced you are his soul mate.”

“You mean that he thinks I am his vampire mate?”Isabella laughed at the very idea.

Rosalie forgot about her objections when she heard what Isabella said.“You know about mates?”

“Of course.I’ve met many mated vampire couples.”Isabella said like it was no big deal she hung out with vampires.

“You know about vampires?”Alice was beyond confused now.She hadn’t realized that Rosalie had told Isabella about them and was planning on explaining to the human herself about the danger she was in.

Isabella nodded.”Yes I know about vampires and like I told Rosalie your family is horrible at acting human.”

“What do you mean?”Jasper asked.

“Forget what she meant.Why didn’t you tell me you knew about mates?”Rosalie tried not to let it show how happy she was that she wouldn’t have to explain about mates to Isabella.

“I’m sorry I didn’t mention it as you were stubbornly refusing to tell me why you have been stalking me.”Isabella couldn’t believe Rosalie.The blond acted like she was entitled to know everything there was about Isabella’s life when she was in fact not.

“I haven’t been stalking you.”Rosalie growled out through gritted teeth.

“Well now I know that you have been protecting me because Edward is convinced we are mates.The next question I have is what is Edward going to do because of this line of thinking?”Isabella knew that Edward wouldn’t be willing to let Isabella go if he was truly convinced that she was his mate.

“That’s the thing.We aren’t exactly sure.We didn’t even know what he had been up to until you and your father showed up.All we knew was he had taken an interest in you.”Jasper explained.

“What happened after you found out?”Isabella asked.

“We had two of our siblings take him to stay with another coven.It’s our belief that they will make sure Edward doesn’t come back here.”Alice had been trying to focus on visions of what Edward would do but since he was always focused on getting to Bella it caused parts of his future to go blank.That brought a question to Alice.”Why can’t I see your future?”

“I was wondering how long it would take you to ask.”Isabella said.

“Does that mean you are going to answer something finally?”Rosalie snarked.

Isabella rolled her eyes at Rosalie’s pouting face.”The reason you can’t have visions of me and I’m thinking you know about Charlie as well is because I am what vampires would considered gifted.My power shields myself and anyone I choose from mental influence.”

“Wait you can shield others as well?”Rosalie perked up when Isabella nodded her head.”Can you help me?”

“Now you trust me enough to mess with your mind when before you were demanding that your siblings not even talk to me?”Isabella didn’t understand Rosalie’s line of thinking.She had spent the entire time they were together being combative and now she seemed to think Isabella was completely trustworthy.

“I may have overreacted when we first met.I still want you to tell me what you are and how your gifts work but I do trust you enough that I feel that you wouldn’t hurt me in any way.”Rosalie admitted begrudgingly.She had wanted to hold on to her anger and suspicion a little longer but was coming to terms with the fact that Isabella was her mate and it would be impossible to stay angry at her.

“You have other gifts than just the shield?”Jasper asked.

”Maybe.”Isabella replied.

And just like that Rosalie was angry again.”Why is it fair that you know about us but we can’t know about you?”

“It’s not my fault the mind reader gave you away.”Isabella told her.

“And because it isn’t our fault you should tell us exactly what you are.You could be dangerous to all of us!!”Rosalie quickly tempered the volume of her voice.”It’s our right to know.”

“Let’s agree to disagree on that one.”Isabella stood from her seat.

“Where are you going?”Rosalie asked panicked that Isabella was going to leave.

“I told you before that I had things to do.I don’t have time to waste my day away dealing with your questions."Isabella looked down to where Rosalie’s hand was suddenly on her forearm.”Are you sure you want to do this?It didn’t end well for you last time.

Rosalie ignored the jab at her failed attempt to keep Isabella in the meadow.”You can’t go.We aren’t done talking.”

“I believe we are.Now are you going to remove your hand or should I remove it for you?”Isabella asked.

“I told you you can’t go.”Rosalie wasn’t going to let go.She knew if she did then Isabella would never come back and she would probably never see her mate again.

Isabella sighed right before she grabbed Rosalie’s hand,twisted it and Rosalie’s arm behind her back.She then kicked the back of Rosalie’s knee forcing Rosalie to the ground.She ignored Rosalie’s grunts of pain as she addressed a stunned Alice and Jasper.”Please be smarter than Rosalie and don’t attack me.”

“We will stay right here but will you please release her.”Jasper wasn’t going to go up against an unknown threat.Especially one that looked and acted human that easily handled a vampire like it was second nature.

“So Rosalie. Here’s what’s going to happen.I’m going to let you go and then I’m leaving.In the future please refrain from laying your hands on me because next time I won’t let you keep all your limbs.”Isabella told her.

“I don’t want you to leave.”Rosalie gritted out through the pain in her body.She didn’t remember pain from her human life but she imagined it felt a lot better than what she was feeling now.

“I’m flattered that you are so attached but that changes nothing.I’m leaving regardless and don’t let me catch you peering in my window while I’m sleeping.If I do you’ll have to worry about more than just being covered in ink once I’m done with you.”Isabella warned.

Rosalie growled and jumped up when Isabella let her go.”This isn’t over!!”

“Until next time.”Isabella took a step away from the group.Waving a hand over herself she was once again covered in a blue smoke.

“What the hell was that?”Alice asked when the smoked cleared and Isabella was no longer in their living room.

“That was the reason I didn’t want you answering her questions.”Rosalie grumbled as she made her way out of the house into her garage.She wanted some time alone to come up with a plan on how she was going to get Isabella to talk to her.Force wasn’t going to work so Rosalie would have to use her words and actions to convince Isabella that she was a good person.That was going to be hard because Rosalie wasn’t good with words and her actions were usually selfish.She was going to have to figure out a different approach.This might be a situation where she called in the big guns for advice.The problem was getting a hold of Irina without Edward overhearing the conversation or reading it from Irina’s mind.Rosalie sighed as she laid down on the couch in her garage.Having a mate was supposed to be a joyous occasion but so far it had been frustrating and stressful.She just hoped that she would get through to Isabella soon because she was already fighting herself from searching the girl out.Rosalie didn’t think Isabella would appreciate a vampire hanging around all the time.Who knows what the girl would do.
