“What the hell is that mutt doing here?”Rosalie mumbled from her spot in the woods that bordered the Swan residence.She had been watching the house since Edward had left and hadn’t seen anything suspicious going on.Now as she watched Jacob Black help his father Billy Black out of a rusted red pick up truck she was somewhat concerned.Either Isabella Swan had horrible luck or she was some kind of danger magnet.Not only did she have vampires after her but she was interacting with shifters.

“Slow down Jake.I know that you are excited to see Bella again but that doesn’t mean you need to toss me around.”Rosalie perked up hearing Billy call Isabella Bella.The night before the Chief corrected Carlisle from saying it.She wondered just how close they were that Isabella let them use the shortened version of her name.

“I’m not excited.”Jacob denied.

Before Billy could reply the door to the Swan’s home opened revealing Charlie.Rosalie didn’t think he looked that happy to see them.”Billy, Jacob I didn’t except you to come by.”

“Jake here heard that Bella was back and wanted to come say hi.”Billy told him.

Rosalie could see the boy’s blush from where she was standing.It seemed that the teenager had a crush.

“It’s Isabella.”Isabella said as she joined the group outside.

“B…Be…Bella.Hi.”Jacob stuttered out.

Isabella scowled at him.”I just told you it’s Isabella. I have never nor will I ever be called Bella.”

“Sorry Isabella.”Billy apologized even though Rosalie could tell he was unhappy with the way that Isabella had spoken to his son.

“Billy here just explained that they stopped by to see you. I didn’t get a chance to tell them you already had plans.”Charlie said.

“Oh you where are you going?Maybe I could come along with you?”Jacob offered.

“Sorry I’m going to visit a new friend and there may be wine.It wouldn’t be appropriate for someone under age to be around alcohol.”Isabella told him.

Rosalie laughed softly at the subtle jab at Jacob’s age.It was when Isabella turned her attention to the woods and looked right at Rosalie and winked that Rosalie felt stunned for two reasons.One that it was obvious that Isabella knew she was there and the second because as their eyes met Rosalie realized something important.Isabella Swan could never be Edward’s mate because she was Rosalie’s.

Stumbling backwards Rosalie went against her instinct and took off in a run.She wanted to run toward Isabella and take her in her arms and kiss her senseless but Rosalie knew that wouldn’t be received well.So to stop herself from doing so she ran until she came upon her favorite meadow.She stopped in the middle of the field of flowers and began to pace.So lost in her own thoughts she didn’t even notice that she wasn’t alone.

“You know you and your family really need to learn that it isn’t polite to stalk someone.”Isabella said as she stepped out of the trees.

Rosalie jumped at the sound of her voice.”What are you doing here?”

“I was actually going to come confront you sooner but I was busy with work.Jacob and Billy just gave me an excuse to leave the house.”Isabella told her.

“How did you get here so fast?”Rosalie asked.

“I could ask you the same thing but I won’t seeing as I know the answer.”Isabella found the vampire’s surprise rather funny.It seemed the blond was to flabbergasted to realize that Isabella had tracked her.

“What do you mean?”Rosalie was finally catching up with her.Not only was Isabella able to find her but she got there to fast for a human.Rosalie knew that Isabella wasn’t a vampire as she heard the girl’s heartbeat.The problem was she didn’t smell like a shifter either and that left Rosalie clueless to what kind of supernatural Isabella was.

“I mean that for vampires your family is rather careless with keeping your secret.”Isabella said.

Rosalie’s eyes widened.”You know about my family?”

“You aren’t the first vampires I have been around.Although you are the first vegetarians.”Isabella told her.

“You have met other vampires?”Rosalie asked.

Isabella nodded.”Yes, but they were human blood drinkers.They were also a lot better at acting human.”

“Wait, you have met red eyed vampires and you’re still alive?”Rosalie didn’t know if she believed Isabella.Human drinkers didn’t usually have human friends.

“Why would they kill me?”Isabella was very confused as to why Rosalie asked.

“Well because they kill humans.”Rosalie said like that was reason enough.

“How much do you know about human blood drinking vampires?”Isabella asked.

“Enough to know that they don’t leave humans alive.”Rosalie said.

“If that was true then humans would have been killed off centuries ago.Human blood drinkers do kill if the want to but that doesn’t mean that they go on killing sprees.The Volturi would step in if someone was so out of control.”Isabella told her.

“Wait you know about the Volturi?”Rosalie wasn’t sure what was going on anymore.Isabella knew a lot more about vampires than any human should.

“Of course.I worked with a vampire who got me access to some of the books from their library.”Isabella said like it was no big deal that she interacted with vampires and knew of their society.

Rosalie stared at Isabella in shock.”Who are you?”

“I’m Isabella Swan nice to meet you.”Isabella held out her hand.”And you are?”

“That doesn’t answer my question.”Rosalie said ignoring the outstretched hand.

“I do believe it does.”Isabella told her.

Rosalie huffed in frustration.”You know that’s not what I meant.”

“It was however exactly what you asked.”Isabella said.”And you never did tell me your name.”

“Rosalie.”Rosalie told her.

“It’s nice to meet you Rosalie.”Isabella held out her hand again.

This time Rosalie shook the hand.Once she felt the warmth of her mate’s hand clasped in her own she shivered from the contact.It seemed that even though her mind was confused Rosalie’s body was not.It immediately recognized it’s mate.”Nice to meet you as well.”

“Are you alright?”Isabella had felt Rosalie shiver.

“Yes, I’m fine.”Rosalie was definitely not fine but she wasn’t going to tell Isabella about the mate bond yet.

“Good, now that we have introduced ourselves can you please tell me why your family is stalking me?”Isabella asked.

“We aren’t stalking you.”Rosalie denied.

Isabella raised an eyebrow.”My security cameras tell me otherwise.Not only that I personally caught you in the woods staking out my house.”

“How did you know I was there?”Rosalie knew she had been well hidden.There hadn’t been any cameras either as she had checked before she settled into her spot.

“Nice deflection.”Isabella said.

“It’s not a deflection.It’s a question.I know I was perfectly hidden and there was no cameras.You shouldn’t have been able to know I was there.”Rosalie wasn’t going to back down on finding out what Isabella was.Not only was she personally interested in the answer Rosalie wanted to know if Isabella was a danger to her family.

“I don’t think I’m going to tell you anything before you explain why your family is so interested in me.”Isabella told her.

“And I’m not going to tell you anything before you explain how you saw me.”Rosalie replied stubbornly.

Isabella shrugged.”I guess we are at a stale mate.”

“I guess we are.”Rosalie agreed.

“Well then, maybe I will go ask one of your siblings.I believe the seer would be more than willing to to talk to me.”Isabella figured that if Rosalie wasn’t going to talk to her then the small perky vampire wouldn’t mind.Isabella knew that being immune to her gift would cause her to talk to find out why.

“Wait, How do you know about Alice?”Rosalie was now more confused than ever.Isabella seemed to know more than any of them thought.

“The mind reader told me.”Isabella was partially telling the truth.She found out through Edward but not by him telling her directly.The idiot mumbled to himself that he hoped Alice wouldn’t catch him when he was outside her window.Not only did the cameras pick up his ramblings but Isabella had heard him as well.

“Edward told you about Alice?”Rosalie didn’t know if she believed that.Then again Edward was convinced that Isabella was his mate.That could mean that he told her things.The idea that Edward thought Isabella was his mate made her growl.If Rosalie had wanted to kill her brother for stalking Isabella before it was even more of mission to now.

“You ok over there Rosalie?”Isabella had heard Rosalie growl but was pretty sure she wasn’t in danger. The growl wasn’t directed at her personally so Isabella felt safe enough to stay.

Rosalie shook her head to clear the thoughts of Edward claiming Isabella.”Yes I’m simply thinking about my brother’s stupidity.”

“Well then, I will leave you to your thoughts.”Isabella made a move to walk away but her path was suddenly blocked by Rosalie.

“Where are you going?”Rosalie was not only worried that Isabella was going to go visit her siblings but that Isabella was leaving her.She wanted more time with her mate even if Rosalie was extremely frustrated with the girl.

“I’m going to go visit Alice.Your family’s actions have escalated to the point that one of you tried breaking into my bedroom while I was sleeping.Now you are staking out my house all night.I have a right to know why you are so interested me.”Isabella told her.

“And I have a right to know who you are and how you know so much about us.”Rosalie said.

“I already told you who I was and how I know about you.You just aren’t listening.”Isabella put her hand on Rosalie’s chest and pushed her out of the way.”Now if you excuse me I am done wasting my time.I have things to do and I would like to spend some time with Charlie.”

Rosalie was stunned as she stumbled away from Isabella.Not only was Isabella able to push her hard enough to move her, she did so very easily.Rosalie was now more than convinced that Isabella wasn’t a human.”How were you able to push me?”

“I put my hand on your chest and used my arm strength.”Isabella explained in a tone that would usually be used to speak to a toddler.

Rosalie bristled at Isabella’s tone.”You know that’s not what I meant.I’m a vampire you shouldn’t have been able to move me at all.”

“Look, you seem like a nice person but I am not going to stand around here all day while you asked me dozen of questions and never answer the one I have been asking since I came here.You may not care about mine and Charlie’s safety but I do.”Isabella said.

“I care about your safety.”Rosalie was insulted that Isabella thought otherwise.”Why do you think I have been guarding your house?”

“I don’t know why you are guarding my house.That’s the point.You won’t tell me what’s going on.”Isabella told her.

Rosalie ran her hand through her hair in frustration.“Well you won’t tell me anything either.”

“I don’t think you are entitled to any answers until I figure what kind of threat you are.”Isabella said.

“I’m not a threat.”Rosalie denied.

Isabella looked at her watched.”Look this is just wasting time.You aren’t going to answer me I’m not going to answer you.So let’s call it a draw and I will go talk to your coven mate.”

“You are not going to go talk to Alice.”Rosalie wasn’t going to let Isabella anywhere near any more vampires.The girl was a danger magnet and Rosalie didn’t want her mate to get hurt.

“Yeah you don’t really have a say in what I do.”Isabella told her.

“If I have to restrain you I will.”Rosalie threatened.

“You’re so cute.”Isabella cooed.”You actually think you can keep me here.”

“I not only can but I will.”Rosalie made a move to grab Isabella only to find Isabella on the other side of the field.

“It was nice meeting you Rosalie.”Isabella said as she waved a hand over herself and disappeared in a puff of blue smoke.

Rosalie stared gobsmacked as she watched Isabella disappear into thin air.She ran to the spot and didn’t find any evidence of what happened.Listening for a heartbeat Rosalie only heard those of animals not a human.Pulling out her phone she quickly called Alice.

“Hello.”Alice’s voice came over the line.

“Alice it’s me.”Rosalie said.

“Well duh you are calling me from your phone.”Alice said.

“Listen there isn’t much time.Isabella will be showing up at our house very soon.”Rosalie told her.

“What do you mean?”Alice asked.

It was as Rosalie heard a door bell that she cursed.”Shit, that’s probably her.”

“Rosalie what’s going on?Aren’t you supposed to be watching her?”Alice asked.

“I’ll explain when I get there.Just be careful and don’t answer any of her questions.”Rosalie told her.

“Rosalie what the hell is going on?”Alice asked again.

“Just keep her there I’ll be home in a few minutes.”With that Rosalie disconnected the call and took off in a run.Her thoughts and emotions were all messed up and she hoped that Alice and maybe Jasper would be able to help her get answers out of her mate.That was another thing that was causing Rosalie’s conflicted thoughts.She was beyond excited that she finally found her mate and wanted to celebrate with her family for such a good thing happening but she couldn’t.Not yet.Rosalie had to figure out what her mate was and what kind of danger she could bring to the family.Hopefully Isabella was harmless because Rosalie would really like to enjoy having a soulmate.
