My Own Worst Enemy 9

“Someone’s coming.”Jasper said.Rosalie heard three sets of footsteps walking down the stairs that led to their cells.She hoped this meant that she was going to be released because not only did she want to see Bella but she was sick of having to listen to all the arguments.A guard had come and given Edward human blood and put his body back together.As soon as he was back to normal the boy hadn’t shut up.It started with his complaints of being forced to drink human blood then went on to the fact that he was imprisoned.He kept going over how wronged he was by the Denali and the queens.How they had brainwashed Bella and she needed to be saved.At one point he took to yelling at Rosalie accusing her of claiming a false bond but she refused to engage him.That just pissed him off more and made him yell louder.Carlisle of course joined in with his own ranting and Rosalie was at her breaking point.If she wasn’t let go by these new visitors she was going to do something drastic to get them to shut up.

“Shit.”Emmett mumbled when a guard came though the door followed by Queen Athenodora and Queen Didyme.

“Cullen’s it so good to see you.”Athenodora smiled seeing the scared look on most of the coven’s faces.All but Rosalie, Edward and Carlisle showed any type of fear.It made sense.Rosalie knew that as Bella’s mate she wouldn’t be harmed.Carlisle and Edward were to stupid to realize that they were in any danger.

“Where is Bella?”Edward asked.

“Where the Volturi Princess is, is none of your business.”Didyme told him.

“Bella is my mate of course where she is is my business.”Edward deserved to know what was going on with his mate.

“Not only is the Princess not your mate but you will use her title when speaking about her.If not you will be the first prisoner who experiences our displeasure.”Athenodora threatened.

“Bella is no princess.”Edward wasn’t going to allow the queens to claim his mate.

“Bella is our daughter.That makes her the Volturi princess.”Didyme said.

“She is not your daughter.”Esme shouted.

”We may not have a familiar bond like the Denali but Bella considers us just as much her mothers as she does the sisters.Why she is even known to call us different versions of the word mother.”Athenodora was actually called different versions of the word father.It started out as a joke but turned into a title the queen was proud of.Especially because she was the only one out of the queens and the Denali that had their own personal nickname.

“That’s because the six of you have brainwashed the poor girl.”Carlisle accused.

Didyme grabbed Athenodora’s arm to stop her from attacking Carlisle.”My love if you go after him when you are this angry you will kill him.Then you will not only deny yourself the pleasure of drawing out his death but the rest of us as well.”

“He thinks he can get away with saying we did something so despicable?!”Athenodora was going tear his skin from his bones.

“He will get what’s coming to him and what’s coming is unimaginable pain.”Didyme reminded her.

Athenodora sighed.”You are right.Not only would Sulpicia be pissed at me but Bella would as well.”

“Exactly.”Didyme was happy that her mate was able to see reason.If she hadn’t a lot of people would’ve been mad at her.

“Carlisle doesn’t deserve to be punished.It is Rosalie who should be.”Edward thought this was the perfect opportunity to prove who the real law breaker was.”She is claiming a false mate bond.”

“I am doing no such thing.I knew Bella was my mate the moment I laid eyes on her.”Rosalie wasn’t going to keep her mouth shut any longer.

Edward scoffed at the very idea.”If that were true then why did you let me date her.”

“Because I was trying to protect her.”Rosalie didn’t sound as sure of her reasons as she would have liked.Now with all the new things she learned she didn’t really think that she made the right choices when it came to Bella.

“I would never let Bella be claimed by another vampire.The fact that you did just proves you aren’t bonded to her.”Edward knew that Rosalie was just trying to destroy his happiness.

“I already explained why she allowed it.She didn’t feel the bond fully.”Jasper had already gone over why Rosalie allowed Bella to date Edward.

“What are you talking about?”Didyme asked.

Jasper glared at Edward.He didn’t want to gain the attention of the queens but he couldn’t let Edward make them think that they were going along with his narrative of how things went.”When the Princess was human I felt how the bond effected both her and Rosalie.Since she was human Rosalie’s feelings for the Princess were never that of a fully mated vampire.Rosalie didn’t feel the overwhelming urges that a regular mated vampire did.Her feelings were very muted.”

“Did they change when she saw Bella in the throne room?”Athenodora took this as more proof that someone was interfering with Rosalie’s bonds.

“They changed when Rosalie caught the Princess’ scent in Alaska.Her instincts were in high gear and once she saw Bella in the throne room she felt exactly what a mated vampire did.”Jasper realized something he hadn’t noticed before.”Actually now that I’m thinking about it her feelings have somewhat dulled again.”

“What do you mean?”Didyme was thinking the same thing as her mate.Jasper was confirming their theory that Carlisle had messed with Rosalie’s bond.

“Well when the Princess revealed herself Rosalie’s emotions were so strong they made me dizzy.I blocked them out the best I could after that but now that I’m focusing on her she feels just like she did when the Princess was human.My gift isn’t picking up the feelings of a mated vampire from her.”Jasper wasn’t sure why that was but he trusted his gift.

“That’s just more proof she isn’t mated to Bella.”Edward said.

“It doesn’t matter what you think or what Jasper’s gift tells them.Bella is my mate.Even she admitted to feeling the bond.”Rosalie wasn’t pleased with Bella’s reaction to the bond but the girl did acknowledge it.

“That’s because Chelsea is messing with the bonds.”Carlisle knew that the bond Bella and Rosalie felt was false.

”You idiot, Chelsea is dead.We were the ones to kill her.”Athenodora wasn’t telling the truth.It was actually Bella and Kate who killed her but everyone left alive in the throne room that day had promised the Denali that they wouldn’t say anything about what happened.The queens wanted to celebrate them but they didn’t want the attention.The Denali liked their quiet life and weren’t interested in being a part of vampire politics.

“You aren’t strong enough to kill Chelsea.”Edward knew the queens weren’t capable of killing anyone.

“Everyone knows she was killed in the battle in the throne room.There were dozens of witnesses.”Alice said.She was hoping to show she was not on Edward and Carlisle’s side so that she and Jasper wouldn’t be subjected to whatever further punishment the pair were more than likely going to get.

“How do we know the queens were in the throne room?”Edward asked.

“Not that we owe any explanation, I will tell you anyway.That day the kings were meeting with a coven of vampires they were trying to recruit.We were there as a way to show they were offering a hand of friendship.Unfortunately for the kings the coven wasn’t interested in friendship and we used the opportunity while they were distracted to kill them and Chelsea.”Didyme didn’t really have to tell them anything but wanted them to know that the queens were more than capable of killing them.Even if they weren’t the ones who did most of the killing.

“You expect us to believe you were able to overcome your bonds and kill your true mates?”Carlisle knew that the queens were really mated to the kings.That was why he was sure that Chelsea was alive.

Before Athenodora could go off on Carlisle Rosalie spoke.”Don’t waste your time trying to correct his thinking.Carlisle thinks there is some grand gay conspiracy going on where unsuspecting women are being forced into false mate bonds with other women.He told us that he has been working on helping the Denali sisters break free of the influence and finally be willing to find their true mates.”

“Seriously?”Of all the things Carlisle could have said Didyme thought that was the stupidest.

“Yup.He thinks you guys are going to force the Princess into another mate bond with a woman.”Emmett confirmed.

Didyme laughed.”Oh Carlisle it’s no wonder the kings liked you so much.You are just as much of a caveman as they were.”

“The kings were great men who didn’t deserve to die.”Carlisle wasn’t going to hold back any longer.He knew he wasn’t going to die so he really had nothing to fear.

“The former kings forced us to be their sex dolls.”Athenodora corrected.

“They would have done no such thing.”Carlisle was outraged his friends were accused of something so heinous.

“My love lets collect Rosalie and get out of here before he says anything else.I personally am seconds away from killing him and I know you won’t be able to control yourself much longer.”Didyme was sick of dealing with Carlisle.She wanted to go spend time with her mates and Bella where they could plan on what exactly to do with him.

Rosalie perked up hearing that.”I’m being let out?”

“Yes, your stay in the dungeon is officially over.”Athenodora told her.

“That isn’t fair!!She is the one who broke the law.”Edward didn’t understand why Rosalie was being treated so well when she was the reason they were even brought to the castle.

Didyme ignored him as she unlocked the door on Rosalie’s cell.”I am going to apologize on behalf of Bella and ask that you go easy on her when you speak to her.”

“What do you mean?”Rosalie asked.

“That’s all I’m willing to say in the vicinity of your coven but all will be explained once you see Bella again.”Didyme only said that much in the presence of the others because she didn’t want Bella to hear her speaking to Rosalie about it.

“Alright.”Rosalie was curious but she wouldn’t push.She didn’t really have any authority to demand answers.

“Cullens you should expect regular visitors starting soon as many are anxious to speak to you.”Athenodora told them.

“I demand that you release us right this instance.”Edward screeched.

Athenodora ignored him as she led her mate and Rosalie out of the room.She was sad that she didn’t get the opportunity to beat on them but she had promised that she would bring Rosalie back right away.The queen should have spent the time they had been talking on the beating but learning the information from Jasper was more than worth missing out.It wasn’t like she wouldn’t get a chance in the future.She bet with what happened with Rosalie Bella was going to be more than willing to let them all have their fun with the coven leader and his mate.Athenodora smiled brightly at the thought.Carlisle definitely deserved what was coming to him and she was going to make sure that she made it as painful as possible.
