“So what happened to you after you left with Aro?”Kate asked.The sisters plus Carmen and Eleazar were all gathered in the Denali’s home in Alaska.It had taken some time to leave the Cullens as the group of vampires had many questions for Bella.Kate had been extremely irritated with having to wait and had gotten so frustrated that she simply told everyone to go to hell,grabbed Bella’s arm and took off running with her not saying goodbye to anyone.Tanya had scolded her for being rude but Kate didn’t care.Bella didn’t owe those people anything.Especially the Romanians who were very interested in Bella’s relationship with the Volturi.Bella of course didn’t tell them anything.Not that she said much to anyone else either.After Kate had run off with her Tanya and the rest of the Denali caught up with them.They decide to abandon their car at the Cullens and run all the way home.

“Well at first Aro was very keen to figure out my shield.I’m actually surprised he never had you evaluate me Eleazar.”Bella said.

“I was never told of your existence.”Eleazar had lived at the castle for centuries and hadn’t seen or heard of Bella.

“Why is it Aro never told anyone about you?I mean he loves to brag about his gifted members.With your gift why didn’t he claim you as a member of the guard?”Tanya asked.

“He was afraid that if I was exposed to other vampires that I would be able to find my own allies and overthrow the kings.”Bella explained.

“Could you overthrow the kings?”Irina had seen the way Aro had gone out of his way to not upset Bella but didn’t think her sister was capable of overthrowing the Volturi.

“Easily.”Bella smiled at the looks of disbelief she was receiving.”Aro made a mistake when he pushed me to master my gift.After some training I found out that not only is it mental but it’s physical as well.”

“That’s why you it looked like you appeared out of thin air.”Kate had wondered how Bella had just shown up next to Aro.

Bella nodded.”I can block my presence and make it so you can’t see, hear or even smell my scent.Initially Aro was ecstatic learning this.It was once he realized that he had no way of ever killing me that he became more cautious around me.”

“If you could shield yourself that way why didn’t you leave the castle and come to us?”Tanya would have expected Bella to leave and find them the first chance she got.

“I couldn’t because Aro had people keeping track of you.If I had left you would have been killed before I even had a chance to find you.”Bella told them.

“That makes sense but why didn’t you at least contact us?”Irina asked.

“I didn’t have anyway of getting a message out to you without Aro finding out.Part of our deal was that I had cut all ties with you.If I had been caught he would have killed you.”Bella had thought of thousands of ways to get messages to her sisters but didn’t want to risk their lives.

“I bet he would have tried to force me into the guard.”Kate said.

“He didn’t want you for the guard.He worried if you and I were together we wouldn’t be able to be controlled.”Bella had overheard conversations between the kings of how they would deal with the Denali if it ever came to Bella defecting.

“He was right to worry.With both our gifts they wouldn’t have stood a chance against us.”Kate knew that if she was in the guard that she and Bella would easily find a way to leave and rescue their sisters.

“If it was so dangerous for you to leave why did you do it now?”Tanya asked.

“I did it now because Aro screwed up.In all Aro’s wisdom he overlooked the fact that you would be with the group Carlisle gathered.I saw this as the perfect opportunity to leave because I was close enough to the three of you to be able to protect you if someone attacked.It was his false belief that no one would disobey him that gave me the chance to break free of his influence.”Bella had been almost giddy when Aro announced that she was coming with him to deal with the Cullens.

“He is of the belief that he is all powerful.I bet you going against his orders never even crossed his mind.”Eleazar had seen the way Aro held himself as if he was untouchable.

“I bet it’s the only thing he thinks about now.”Irina said.

“That brings up a good point.What is he going to do to retaliate?”Tanya wouldn’t be surprised if Aro decided to send an army after them because of the way Bella had embarrassed him publicly.

“He is going to gather his best tracker, the witch twins and some of the other members of the elite guard and send them to confront us.”Bella predicted.

“He’s sending the witch twins?”Kate didn’t like hearing that.

“You don’t have to worry about any of them.Especially Jane and Alec.I will be protecting you with my shield and their gifts are useless against it.All gifts that are physical and mental are.”Bella wasn’t worried about who Aro sent.They were no match for her.

“Wait you can defend us against the witch twins?”Irina felt a lot better about their survival knowing that.

Bella nodded.”The only gifted vampire I have ever heard of being able to affect me is Benjamin.Even then I can protect myself from what ever damage he does around me.”

“It must have upset Aro not being able to send you out on missions.”Carmen said.

“After he found out about the physical shield he stop letting me train with the guard and had me shield myself from others.The only way he had to keep track of me was because I never shielded my scent.I didn’t want him knowing it was possible.”Bella had let Aro know the bare minimum about her abilities.”Even right now I’m not using them to their full extent because Aro knows where to find us and I don’t want him learning about what I can do.”

“How are we going to stay safe from him?I mean I doubt we can be with you all the time.”Kate wasn’t opposed to it she just knew there were going to be times when they would have to be apart.

“I have been working with a acquaintance at the castle and she and I have developed a way that I can put permanent blocks on your minds to protect you from mental influence.It will also protect you from Aro’s best tracker because his gift works by picking up brain waves not scent.”Bella explained.

“Seriously?”Tanya had never heard of such a thing.

“We used a couple lesser guards as test subjects.They had wanted to leave but were afraid of Aro coming after them and were more willing to try it out.I set up some experiments with Jane, Alec and the tracker and all of them were immune.”Bella had been very pleased with the results.

“How are you sure that they are immune to Aro?”Irina asked.

“I can’t be a hundred percent sure without turning them over to him but with them being immune to the others it’s likely that they are immune to Aro as well.”Bella wasn’t willing to turn the vampires in.The whole reason they had agreed was because Bella had promised them they would get their freedom.She wasn’t going to go back on her word.

“Aro’s gift is less invasive than the witch twins.If a mind can be blocked from their gifts Aro’s wouldn’t have a chance of breaking through.”Eleazar told them.

“Shit.”Kate couldn’t believe that they actually had a way to protect themselves from the most dangerous guard members.Then again Bella was always their protector.Of course she would come up with a way to keep them safe when she wasn’t around.

“Will it hurt?”Tanya was more than happy to have the block she just wanted to be prepared for the what it felt like to get it.

Bella shook her head.”Not at all.I’m told it feels like trying to breathe underwater.It lasts for a couple second and then you feel completely normal.”

“That doesn’t sound to bad.”Irina was relieved that they wouldn’t have to go through something painful to be protected.

“I think we should discuss what we should do after we get the blocks.”Tanya said.

“What do you mean?”Kate asked.

“Well it’s obvious that Aro isn’t going to just accept that Bella has left the guard.Bella told us he knows where we are.That means we will be receiving visitors very soon.I don’t think we should stick around here anymore.”Tanya didn’t want to have to worry about who was going to show up at their home.

“You’re right.If we stay here we are sitting ducks.”Irina would miss Alaska as it had been their home for centuries but it wouldn’t be smart to stay.

“Where can we go that Aro wouldn’t look for us?”Carmen wasn’t sure how they would be able to hide without Aro eventually finding them.

“I may be able to help with that.”Bella said.

“Do you know of a place he wouldn’t look?”Eleazar asked.

“I think we should go to the Bahamas.”Bella suggested.

“I would love to go to a beautiful sunny island but that is impossible without being exposed.”Tanya wasn’t opposed to the idea it just wasn’t feasible.

“That’s where my shield comes in.It blocks UV rays and makes it so our skin doesn’t sparkle in the sun.”Bella smiled at the looks of disbelief on the other vampires’ faces.

“No way.”Kate didn’t believe that for a second.

“It’s true and I can prove it to you right now.”Bella stood from her seat and led the group outside making sure they were all in the sun.

Irina looked at all of them in shock.”What the hell?We look just like humans.”

“That’s extraordinary.”Eleazar had never heard of such a gift before.

“It’s another thing Aro doesn’t know about.”Bella told them.

“He would never think to look for us on a Caribbean island.”Tanya was almost positive with Bella’s gift Aro would never be able to find them.

“And we could go to the beach!!”Kate was already making plans for what they could do if they didn’t have to worry about the sun.

“We just need to test what the range is because I didn’t get to try it for fear of someone finding out.”Bella hadn’t wanted anyone to know in case she was able to get away so that she would have a better chance of her and her sisters not getting caught.

“That’s easy to do.”Carmen found herself excited by the idea of being able to travel to places they never got the chance to go to being forced to stay inside during the day.

“We need to make a list of everything we need to do to get ready.This is going to be all hands on deck because I want to leave as soon as possible.”Tanya didn’t want to wait around and have the guard show up.

“All of us are more than willing to help.”Irina was more than happy to do anything needed to be done so they could start their new life.

“Once we get settled there is one last piece of unfinished business I have to deal with.”Bella said.

“What is it?”Kate asked.

“I need to make a visit to Caius.”Bella told her.

“Isn’t that dangerous?”Tanya didn’t want Bella to get caught and forced back into the guard.

Bella smirked.”For Caius it will be.”

“What do you have planned?”Irina asked.

“I need to keep that to myself for now just incase something happens.”Bella would tell her sisters when she finished her task just incase for some reason one of them got captured.

“We trust you.”If Bella didn’t think it was safe for then to know then Kate wouldn’t push for the information.Bella would only keep things from them if it was dangerous.

“Alright now why doesn’t Bella get started on placing the blocks.While she’s doing that the rest of us will start figuring out everything that we need to do to prepare for our move.”Tanya said causing the group to head back into the house.They had many things to get done before they could actually leave Alaska.Although somewhat sad they would have to move from a home they had lived in for centuries Tanya didn’t think it was that much of a hardship.The home had always felt a bit empty without Bella there and Tanya was excited to finally have a chance to have Bella in their lives again.She was worried about what would happen when Bella went to visit Caius but knew that Bella would never willingly put herself in danger.Especially after everything she went through to get her freedom.Tanya just hoped that it didn’t take to long because now that Bella was reunited with them Tanya didn't wanted to be separated from her sister ever again.
