My Own Worst Enemy 2

“Who was that on the phone?”Irina asked Tanya when her mate joined her, Kate, Carmen and Eleazar in the living room of their Alaska home. She was working on the scrapbook she was putting together to commemorate the recent trip the Denali took to Egypt.They had taken hundreds of pictures and Irina was having a hard time picking which ones she wanted to add.She probably would end up making more than one volume for the trip as she usually did when making scrapbooks of their adventures.It wasn’t that much of a bother because she enjoyed reliving each moment they captured on film.

“Carlisle.”Tanya was unsurprised when both of her mates plus Carmen growled.Eleazar stayed quiet but the look on his face showed his displeasure.

“What did that parasite want?”Irina asked.

“He had gotten a sample of the new synthetic blood and tested it.He called to tell us that it would sustain vampires so we don’t have to hunt animals or humans anymore.”Tanya told them.

“We already knew that.”Kate said pausing her game to give the conversation her full attention.

“Yes, but the Cullens don’t know that.”Tanya pointed out.

“That’s because they don’t deserve to know anything about Bella’s achievements.”Carmen said.

“What else did he want?”Irina knew that Carlisle wasn’t just calling to tell them about the blood.

“He asked if they could come visit us.”Tanya told them

“No way.”Kate wasn’t going to allow it.

“They haven’t visited since before Forks.If we don’t allow them to it will be suspicious and they will likely come without permission.”Tanya wasn’t pleased with the idea of the Cullens visiting but would rather know when they were coming.

“I don’t want them in our home.”Irina didn’t even want to speak about the Cullens let alone see them.

“I don’t either but Tanya’s right.Carlisle will get suspicious and we all know he can’t help but stick his nose in everyone else’s business. If you denied him he would be here the next day to find out why.”If they said no Eleazar knew that Carlisle would take it as a personal insult and want to confront them about it.

“I don’t want those people around my daughter.”Irina didn’t want the Cullens anywhere near Bella.Even them being on the same continent was too close in her opinion.

“I know my love but right now is the perfect time for them to come.Bella is with the queens and she won’t be home for at least a few weeks.”Tanya didn’t like the fact that Bella visited the queens so often but it was one of the conditions of Bella being allowed to live with them in Alaska.The fact that Bella enjoyed the rulers made the arrangement easier to accept.That didn’t mean that Tanya, Kate and Irina didn’t miss their daughter the entire time but it was the only way for them to not be forced to live in the castle.Something none of them including Bella wanted.

“Has she checked in?”Carmen asked.Although she didn’t have a familiar bond with Bella like the sisters she did think of Bella as a niece and took the role of aunt very seriously.

Irina nodded.”She texted me a little while ago to tell me that the latest version of the contacts she made lasted 9 hours.”

“That’s a lot better than the 5 the ones before lasted.”Kate said.

“Your daughter’s intelligence never ceases to amaze me.”Eleazar was constantly surprised with the many breakthroughs Bella made.

“Bella is exceptional.She just needed someone to help her see it for herself.”When they first met her Bella had been unsure of herself because of all the people who had constantly told her she was inferior and would never be able to survive on her own.It had taken Irina and her mates a long time and a lot of reassurance to get Bella in the mind set that she was more than capable of doing anything she wanted.That led to Bella discovering a love of learning.After earning several degrees in topics that included medicine, bio engineering, engineering, technology, chemistry and a few others Bella focused her attention on the make up of vampires’ bodies.She used her time to come up with ways to help vampires blend in with humans better.The blood substitution only one of the many things she had created.

“She was impressive as human but once she was changed she became unstoppable.”Carmen remembered how Bella had pushed herself to the brink of exhaustion with all the classes she was taking.Even with her vampire body she had barely kept up.How she accomplished so much still baffled Carmen because never before had she seen a vampire so dedicated to a hobby.

“And with our support and the support of the queens she will continue to flourish.”Tanya had no doubt that Bella was going to have many more accomplishments in the future.The girl was to driven to stop with her research.As it was the only time that Bella actually took breaks was when she was forced to by either her mothers or the queens.Well Didyme.Sulpicia got just as excited about Bella’s research as Bella did and Athenodora enjoyed the testing Bella did with her shield.Didyme was the one who made sure that Bella took breaks and didn’t get lost in her own head like she was prone to doing.

“Although I don’t wish to speak about them we do need decide on what to do about the Cullens.”Irina said.

“I say we invite them here and kill them.”Kate thought that was the best way to handle their so called cousins.

“Tempting but Bella wouldn’t approve of it.”Tanya wished they could just kill them but Bella had stopped them saying that even though they were dicks they didn’t actually break the law.Tanya couldn’t really fight her daughter on her reasoning because the girl was right.That didn’t mean that the option was off the table.The queens had told her privately that they were keeping a close eye on the Cullens hoping they would catch them breaking the law so they would be justified in killing them.

“Then the only thing we can do is let them come and hope they leave quickly.”Eleazar said.

“How do you think Edward is going to react to not being able to read our minds?”Carmen asked.

“He’s going to be pissed.”Tanya predicted the boy would throw quite the tantrum.

“I’m surprised Alice hasn’t realized she can’t see our future anymore.”Irina would have thought that would have been brought up decades ago when Bella created the block on their minds.

Kate shrugged.“She probably hasn’t figured it out yet.It’s not like they have a reason to check in on us.”

“We will deal with it when they get here.Hopefully it will cause some kind of fight and we will get the chance to beat on them.”Tanya wouldn’t be upset if they were attacked.It would give them the excuse of taking out their anger on the Cullens.

“That would nice.”Irina was of the same thought as her mate.She would enjoy the chance to show the Cullens her displeasure with them.

“I’ll make sure I irritate Edward more than I usually do.”It wasn’t unheard of for Kate to get Edward so riled up he tried to fight her.Carlisle always stepped in before it got out of hand.This time however Kate would have to figure out a way to get Carlisle just as riled up as Edward without being obvious about it.

“I’m going to go call him back.Hopefully they will leave immediately and get here soon.That way we can send them on their way before Bella gets home.”Tanya said.Making her way into her office she was not happy about having to make the call.She hated the Cullens but couldn’t really cut ties with them without telling them about Bella and there was no way she was telling them her daughter was alive.That would make them want to see her and Tanya would kill all of them before she let that happen.Maybe she would help Kate antagonize them.If they threw the first punch the Denali could claim they killed them in self defense.The queens would easily side with them and they wouldn’t get in trouble for it.It was to bad that Bella was so set on following the laws.It wasn’t surprising with her background but it irritated Tanya, the rest of family and the queens that they couldn’t just kill the Cullens without reason.
