My Own Worst Enemy 1

“Family meeting.”Carlisle called out causing all the Cullens to meet in the living room of their home.Once settled Carlisle took a moment to look at each of his family members.Alice looked as happy as ever sitting on a content Jasper’s lap.Emmett was in his normal place playing video games, Edward seemed in good spirits and Esme seemed like her usual self.Rosalie however seemed to be surrounded by a cloud of grief and anger.She never got over the fact that Edward chose to leave his mate.Carlisle figured Rosalie felt guilty for Bella’s death because after they heard the news her whole personality changed.She became bitter and barely found happiness in anything.It made him once again curse fate for not mating her with Emmett.The pair would have been perfect for each other.

“What’s this about?”Alice asked.

“I have just finished running tests on the new synthetic blood that was invented.”Carlisle told them.

“How were you able to get your hands on a sample?”Jasper and the rest of the family had heard of the new blood replacement that was created.It was his and most of the family’s hope that the blood would take the place of having to hunt either people or animals.

“I had to pay a security guard a lot of money to steal it for me.”Carlisle wasn’t proud of the means he got the sample but it was too important to his family to wait until it hit the market.That and he was curious.

“What did you find out?”Edward asked.

“I can officially confirm that it will sustain us the same way animal and human blood does.”Carlisle was extremely pleased that they would no longer have to hunt.It would open up many new possibilities for them to live in different places and travel without having to worry about having a population of wildlife close by.

“That’s wonderful news.”Esme said.

“How are we going to get a supply?”Alice was pleased that she and Jasper wouldn’t have to hunt anymore.Animal blood was more ethical than human blood but the taste was disgusting.

“It hasn’t been released to the public market yet but I’ve reached out to the company.My plan is to tell them I need large amounts for a number of free clinics I run for people who can’t afford to go to the doctor.”Carlisle told them.

“That’s a good idea.By saying you are helping people it will make them more inclined to provide you with the blood over other hospitals that will no doubt be vying for it as well.You may have to set up dummy corporations to prove it to them though.”Jasper said.

“I already have one I set up for when Bella was with us so that I could get medical supplies for her.”Carlisle had set it up just in case something had happened to Bella as the human hated hospitals and was very accident prone.

Edward smiled softly.“My Bella was always tripping over her own feet.”

“You do not say her name!”Rosalie growled.

“I can say the name of my mate anytime I like.”Edward told her.

“She wasn’t your mate.”Rosalie said.

“Of course she was my mate!”Edward knew without a doubt Bella was his mate.

Rosalie replied through gritted teeth.“No she wasn’t!!”

“How would you know anyway?”Edward knew Rosalie was just jealous he had found a mate and she didn’t.

“I just do.”Rosalie couldn’t tell him the truth that she knew because Bella was actually her mate.She didn’t have the right to claim Bella.It was her fault that Bella thought she was mated to Edward.All because Rosalie was to pigheaded to admit that she was in love with a human.A human she wanted to live a happy fulfilling life that didn’t involve dangerous vampires.Not that that had happened as Bella was killed 2 years after they left her in a car accident.Rosalie often visited her grave to lay flowers and beg forgiveness for failing her.

“Anyway so back to the blood.”Alice said changing the subject.She had warned Rosalie that she would lose Bella forever if she didn’t get over herself and tell the girl about the mate bond.Not that Alice knew that Bella was going to die.Something she felt guilty about because she had stopped checking in on Bella after they left just like she had requested.If Alice had ignored Bella’s wishes she could have prevented Bella’s death.

“How soon do you think they will get back to you?”Jasper happily helped Alice change the subject.He had to deal with Rosalie’s overwhelming guilt and feelings of loss constantly he didn’t want to have to deal with her uncontrollable anger as well.

“I’m not sure but I hope soon.”Carlisle said

“Is there a way for you to follow up?”Esme asked.

Carlisle shook his head.”The person I reached out to is the only one I have been able to get the personal contact information for.All the other avenues were through secretaries and call centers.”

“Hopefully we will hear back from them soon.”Alice would like to be able to stop hunting as soon as possible.

“In the mean time how does everybody feel about visiting the Denali?”Carlisle asked.

“We haven’t been in a while and it would nice to see Kate again.”Emmett loved hanging out with Kate.She was always willing to cause trouble and Emmett enjoyed pranking people with her.

“We don’t mind.”Jasper liked visiting their cousins because they lived so far away from humans.It gave him a break from not only his own blood lust but the blood lust of his family.

“I don’t care.”Rosalie wouldn’t mind going.The sisters liked to mess with Edward and it would be nice to see him put in his place.Especially because Carlisle never stepped in for fear of causing a fight with the other coven.

“Then it’s settled.I’m going to give Tanya a call and tell her about my findings with the blood and ask if we can visit.I want to leave soon so everyone be ready.”Carlisle said.

“I’ll go pack.”Rosalie happily took the chance to go hide in her room.She hated being around her family at times.Mostly when Bella was brought up as it was a kick to the heart every time someone said her name.It was the most agonizing when Edward spoke about her.Rosalie knew that Edward brought her up at times just to mess with her.He was vindictive like that.Sighing she made her way up the stairs ignoring the rest of the group.She was going to drive by herself to Alaska.That way she didn’t have to deal with anyone.Not even Emmett and his childish optimism.She wanted to brood and the only way she could do that was if she was alone.
