Deadly Weapon 9

“You wanted to see us?”Isabella asked once she and Rosalie entered her parents shared office.Closing the door behind her she took a seat in the chair in front of her mother’s desk.Rosalie follow suit and took the one next to her.Isabella was confused on why her parents had asked for them because they had said that they wouldn’t be summoned until the trials.Being called to their office was also irregular as it was only used for important meetings as the room was soundproofed.That meant this was official business that her parents didn’t want the other royals to know about.That had Isabella on high alert and caused her to move her chair closer to Rosalie.

“Yes we have a few things that we wish to discuss with you in private.Some of them have to do with Rosalie.”Caius told her.

“Whatever you need we are at your service.”Isabella easily pledged their support with Rosalie nodding her head in agreement.

“I think that we should start with Aro.”Athenodora decided to start with the main problem before speaking about the Cullens.

“What has he done now?”Isabella asked.

“It has come to our attention that Aro believes that we are going to order you to kill our brothers and sisters so that we can take over as sole rulers.”Caius said.

“Is that something you wish for me to do?”Isabella wasn’t opposed to the idea if that was what her parents really wanted.

“No my dear we don’t want you to kill them.”Athenodora wasn’t surprised that Isabella offered though.Aro was right in his thinking that Isabella would kill them if asked but they weren’t planning on asking her.

“What do you want me to do then?”Isabella asked.

“We are bringing this to your attention because your mother and I both think that he will act on his paranoia and try to kill the three of us.”Caius told her.

”He dare think he could lay a finger on either of you!!”Isabella growled in outrage.

Rosalie laid a hand on her mate’s arm to calm her down.”What do you think he is planning?”

“That is where you come in.We believe that Aro is going to try and recruit your former coven to help him achieve his goals.”Both Athenodora and Caius expected that Aro would somehow find a way for the Cullens to be found not guilty of their crimes.

“How is he going to pull that off?”Isabella wasn’t sure how Aro could save the Cullens after Rosalie gave evidence against them.

“We both have had suspicions that Aro doesn’t give us all the information he collects with his gift.Since it hasn’t been an issue before we have ignored it but now that he believes we are going to overthrow him we can no longer allow him to be the one we rely on for confessions.”Caius wasn’t going to trust Aro ever again.

“If he wanted to he could easily lie and say he saw nothing incriminating when he used his gift on Carlisle and others.That would also make the Cullens owe him a life debt.”Rosalie mused.

“Exactly.”Athenodora was pleased with Rosalie’s thinking.It showed that Rosalie had good intuition when it came to understanding motives and put another check mark in Athenodora’s list of reasons Rosalie was good match for her daughter.

“If you aren’t going to rely on Aro how are you going to get the information you want?”Isabella asked.

“As you know both your mother and I were in many battles before we joined up with with your aunts and uncles.We have ways to make people talk.”Caius wasn’t worried about getting information out of the prisoners.The coven was weak and he knew they would crack within minutes trying to save themselves.

“Is Aro going to go along with this or is he going to be a problem?”Isabella knew that Aro wouldn’t take kindly to being told he was untrustworthy.

“He will likely be angry but there isn’t anything he can really do to stop it from happening.”Caius said.

“If you wanted to expose him you could allow him to go through with using his gift first and declaring them innocent.Once that’s done you could use your own methods.That would show that Aro had been lying.”Rosalie told them.

Athenodora smiled brightly at the idea.”I like the way you think.”

“It’s what everyone else thinking.”Rosalie waved off the praise.

“No I wasn’t thinking that at all.”Isabella disagreed.”I was thinking we put each mated pair in a room and use them against each other to get them to talk.Your plan is a lot better.”

“You are the Volturi princess consort.That means that you need to stand proud when you speak.Don’t downplay your own genius because there are going to be plenty of people who won’t take you seriously.To prove them wrong you need to be confident in yourself.Your idea was your own and it was a good one.”Athenodora told her.

“I’ll try Athenodora.”Rosalie knew it would take a while to get out the mindset that they weren’t like the Cullens.It was odd that anyone actually valued her opinion but it was obvious that the three vampires in the room with her did.

“That’s all I ask.”Athenodora was already planning on helping Rosalie to become more assertive.The girl was trying but she had a long way to go before she would be able to be presented to court.

“Back to the matter at hand.I like Rosalie’s idea.It would be foolish to waste the opportunity to discredit Aro.It would also solidify Marcus’ position on our side if it comes to a fight.”Caius wouldn’t be surprised if Aro went behind his back to rally Marcus against them at some point.

“It could also make him move against us sooner.”Isabella pointed out.

“We will need to speak Jane and Alec at some point.I have no doubt that Aro will be sending them to find others to join his cause.The problem is we don’t know if your sibling bond overrides the sire bond.”It hadn’t been studied in detail but Athenodora was of the opinion that not only because of the sibling bond but with Isabella’s gift that Aro had little control over the twins.

“Speaking of sire bonds.We should discuss what was reported back from the guards assigned to the dungeon.”Caius said.

“Is this about my bond with Carlisle?”Rosalie asked.

Caius nodded.”The guards reported that the Cullens have been planning on how to get away with their crimes.Most of them are foolish and will not work but one of them is quite concerning.”

“Is Carlisle going to try and force Rosalie to do something?”Isabella would of course stop anything from happening but wanted the know the details.

“If all their many plans failed Carlisle was going to use the sire bond to force Rosalie to fight with them.He and the others believing if she did that Isabella would side with them as well.Apparently they believe that they would able to control you by using Rosalie as leverage.”Athenodora wasn’t surprised when Isabella jumped up from her chair and made to storm out of the room.

Rosalie jumped up right after her and wrap her arms around Isabella’s back stopping her in her tracks.”My love you can’t go kill them right now.”

“Why not?”Isabella didn’t see a problem with killing the animal drinkers.

“Because if you did it would give Aro proof that you can’t be controlled and are a danger to all vampires.”Rosalie explained.

Isabella turned in Rosalie’s arms and kissed her gently.”I hate that you used logic to make me see reason.Can’t you just side with me this once and we can kill them together?”

“Although I would love to kill them right now if we did it would have to be quick so we aren’t stopped.I personally am not willing to miss out on the chance to inflict as much pain as I can before we kill all of them.No matter how much I want to make you happy.”Rosalie would prefer to kill them right away but she wanted to take her time and she knew Isabella did to.

“There is that silly logic again.”Isabella sighed dramatically.”I suppose waiting is a good idea.It will give me more time to plan exactly how I want to torture them.”

“That’s the spirit.”Rosalie kissed Isabella again before stepping out of her arms and leading them back to their chairs.

Athenodora didn’t even try to hide the smile that came from watching the interaction.It seemed Isabella would have her hands full with Rosalie and the queen was looking forward to watching it play out in front of her for the rest of eternity.”Alright so we aren’t going to kill them right now.”

“That being said the sire bond must be dealt with.”Caius told them.

“How do you break a sire bond?”Rosalie asked.

“The easiest way is to kill the sire.”Athenodora cut Isabella off before she could interrupt.”Which we are not going to do.”

“Lame.”Isabella grumbled earning kiss on the cheek from Rosalie.

Athenodora ignored Isabella’s reply and continued.“We have a couple options.We can see if Isabella’s gift will block the bond or we can use Chelsea to break it.”

“How will breaking it affect Rosalie?”Isabella didn’t want her to get hurt even if it would be better in the end.

“You will feel the pain of loss once it’s broken but as you are not attached to your sire it will go away quickly.The ones that are most affected are vampires who have a devotion to their makers but as it is obvious that you have been trying to get away from yours your bond isn’t that strong.He can still make you do things but since you have been fighting against him for so long your bond is strained.That being the case the pain won’t linger.”Caius explained.

“I want to break it then.”Rosalie would deal with any side effects if it meant that she would be free of Carlisle.

“If Aro is going to want to align himself with the Cullens will he allow Chelsea to break the bond?”Isabella asked.

“I’ll speak to Marcus about it first.That way when it’s brought up to Aro he can’t go against us without showing his hand.”Caius said.

“When can we do it?”Rosalie wanted it done as soon as possible.

“Since we have a plan I’ll go speak to him now.”Caius was of the same thought as Rosalie.He wanted it done right away.

“You two are dismissed for now.We will call you back for the trials.I expect that Aro has been given the same information about the Cullen’s plans and will want to hold them soon hoping that he can keep us from stopping them from succeeding.I’m going to be attending as well of course so I will see in you in there.”Athenodora was going to start attending more proceedings in the throne room.She didn’t trust Aro not to target her mate and although he could take care of himself the queen would never leave him unprotected.

“We looked forward to it.”Isabella stood from her seat and kissed her mother followed by her father on the cheek.

“I will have it set up for Chelsea to break the bond before the Cullens are brought into the throne room.”Caius said.

“Actually could we do it in front of them?”Rosalie wanted to see the look on Carlisle’s face when he realized he no longer could control her.

“If that’s what you wish then of course.”It wasn’t a big request so Athenodora had no problems granting it.

“Thank you Athenodora.”Rosalie was now even more excited for the trials.

“You’re welcome.”Athenodora replied.

Isabella took Rosalie’s hand in her own and led her out the room calling over her shoulder.”See you later.”

“Bye Isabella.”Caius sighed when the door to the office shut behind the pair.”That went well.”

“The girl is a lot smarter than I expected anyone who was sired by Carlisle to be.”Athenodora mused.

“She definitely has potential.”Caius was very happy their initial worries about Rosalie had been for not.

“And a will to fulfill it.”Athenodora said her mate humming in agreement.The queen had seen the look in Rosalie’s eyes when talking about her coven.It was the look of someone who was hell bent on revenge.It was just more proof that Rosalie was meant to be Isabella’s mate because the queen had no doubt that when Rosalie got a chance to get that revenge she was going to make it as painful as possible.It would be a good bonding experience for the pair.Athenodora was planning on watching the show as she knew it was going to be especially brutal and it there was one thing Athenodora loved it was watching a good torture session.
