Deadly Weapon 8

“What do you think is going to happen to us?”Emmett asked the rest of his family from his cell in the dungeon.As soon as they got off the plane the entire coven minus Rosalie had been met with a large contingent of guards who escorted them to the dungeon as soon as they reached the castle.Once there each of them were given their own cell.Even the human Britney was with them.She had been sobbing uncontrollably the whole time until she was so exhausted she fell asleep.Emmett wasn’t expecting her make it out this alive.He honestly didn’t think any of them were going to.

“Nothing good.”Jasper said.

“Don’t give up hope yet.”Carlisle told them.

“How can we not?”Sara asked.

“Rosalie is mated to one of the Volturi now.One that is obviously a highly regarded member of the guard.That means she will have the chance to plead our cases to the royals.They would probably go along her to make the guard happy.”Carlisle knew that Rosalie wouldn’t support anything bad happening to their coven.

“That’s true Rosalie wouldn’t let anything happen to us.”Alice was sure that Rosalie was fighting for them to be freed.

“You honestly believe that Rosalie of all people is going to try and save us?”Sara didn’t think Rosalie would do anything to save them.The blond had never hid her dislike of being a member of the coven and voiced her want to go off on her own on numerous occasions.

“Of course she will.She loves each of us.She wouldn’t want us to get hurt.”Esme was sure that Rosalie was doing everything she could to get the charges dropped against the family.

“I’m don’t think that true.”Jasper said.

“What do you mean?”Alice asked.

“Not only has Rosalie voiced her unhappiness with being a part of our family but I have never felt anything but hatred and loathing from her when she interacts with each of us.”Jasper explained.

“If Rosalie goes against us then Carlisle can just make her comply with the sire bond.”Edward wasn’t surprised with hearing that Rosalie wasn’t loyal to the family.Ever since he had rejected her she turned into a bitter, angry person who only cared about herself.

“He has to get near her to give the order.”Emmett said.

“I have no doubt that she will show her face soon enough.”Carlisle knew the Volturi would want to show off the fact that they stole one of his children.The royals had always been jealous of his family and Carlisle had been expecting them to do something to break them up eventually.

“True they would want to use us as an example of what they could do to try to keep her in line.”Jasper was thinking the same thing as Carlisle.The Volturi would want to show off their prize.

“What is our plan if Rosalie doesn’t come through?”Sara asked.

“Aro will pick me as the one he touches so he can hear the thoughts of everyone in the room.While he is touching me I can monitor what bits he picks out from everyone.Based on what he decides I can base our defense on that.”Edward knew that he would be able to manipulate Aro.

“Two problems with that plan.One there is no way you can beat Aro’s gift so he would know right away what you are planning.Two if that Isabella vampire is there you won’t be able to hear anyone’s thoughts.”Sara said.

“Of course I can beat Aro’s gift and there is no proof that Isabella has any kind of gift.”Edward’s plan would work.He knew it would.

“Are you seriously still saying with what we have just experienced that the Volturi doesn’t have a guard with a gift that can block not only you but Alice as well?”Jasper shouldn’t be surprised that Edward was in such denial.The idiot thought he was all knowing and it caused many problems because of his inability to believe that he didn’t know what was right all the time.

“There is no proof.When we were on the battlefield and the plane I was to worried about what was going to happen to Britney to pay attention to anything else going on.I didn’t even try to use my gift.”Edward knew his gift was to powerful and that nothing could block it.

“Are you seriously that delusional?”Emmett was already predicted that Edward was going to get them killed.With his superiority complex he wouldn’t be able to keep his mouth shut and because of that Edward would most likely provoke the kings.

“I’m not delusional.”Edward was insulted that Emmett would say such a thing.”I just know that I am more than capable of saving the family.”

“Yeah I don’t want to leave my fate in your hands.”Sara said.

“No Edward is right.Even though Isabella is a good fighter there is no proof of her having any kind of gift.”Carlisle knew that the Volturi would brag about having such a gifted vampire because they didn’t Carlisle took that as proof of it not being true.

“Oh my god you are going to get us all killed.”Emmett grumbled.

“Alright we go with Edward’s plan but just in case we should have back up.”Jasper wasn’t sure that Edward’s plan would work but it was a good one.

“Good idea.”This whole situation made Alice very worried because her visions had stopped coming.She had no idea what going to happen to any of them.

“So if Edward’s plan doesn’t work and Rosalie doesn’t come through what do we do?”Sara didn’t think they had many options but was more than willing to brainstorm.

“We need to come up with an excuse for our actions that is close enough to the truth that Aro wouldn’t think we are lying.”Carlisle said.

“What crimes do you think we will be charged with?”Esme asked.

“We left the mate of a vampire we killed alive, we didn’t inform them of the newborn army and we hid the existence of the shifters from them.”Jasper listed off.

Emmett winced thinking about the shifters.”Not that the shifters are a problem any longer.”

“What was done to them was horrible.”Alice couldn’t believe how brutal Isabella’s treatment of the pack was.

“It’s just another example of how little the Volturi regard life.”Carlisle had felt bad for the wolves but he had warned Sam.The fact that he didn’t listen wasn’t Carlisle’s fault.

“Regardless let’s get back to planning.”Edward didn’t care about the wolves.He had always been planning on sacrificing them if it came to it.

“Ok so let’s start with the fact that we left the mate of a vampire we killed alive.What defense do we have for that?”Sara asked.

“We can say that weren’t able to track her.Her being a nomad makes it believable.”Alice said.

“If we had listened to Rosalie and actually gone after her we wouldn’t be in this mess.”Emmett had really wished he had put more faith in his sister.Even though Rosalie didn’t want to have any kind of friendship with him he could have at least given her some support.If he had then they wouldn’t be in the situation they were currently in.

“Rosalie didn’t know what she was talking about.”Edward would never admit Rosalie was right.The blond wasn’t smart enough to do anything other than fix cars and look pretty.

“She apparently did because she was the one who told us not only to go after the red head but to contact the Volturi about the newborns.If we had we wouldn’t be stuck here waiting to know if we are going to be killed.”Sara too wished she had given more credit to Rosalie.Even though Rosalie had made her hatred of the coven known Sara could’ve have tried harder to support her sister.

“Forget about Rosalie.Until I get a chance to see her she is unimportant.”Carlisle would deal with Rosalie when he saw her.”Now I think Alice is right.We can explain away Victoria by saying we couldn’t track her.”

“How do we justify not contacting them about the newborns?”Sara didn’t have a clue how they would get away with the newborn army as it would have been obvious that they were in the area.

“I don’t know.I can claim my visions have stopped.I have proof of that but it wouldn’t explain why we didn’t notice.”Alice said.

“The fact that we trained to fight them makes it impossible to claim we had no knowledge of them.”Jasper didn’t think they could justify not telling anyone about them.

Carlisle tried to think though their options.”We could use the wolves as an excuse by saying that we were worried the guard would kill the entire population on the reservation to stop anymore shifters from being born.The treatment of the wolves would be proof enough that our worries were valid.”

“The only problem with that is it isn’t up to us what happens to the shifters.Unless you can rely on your known compassion the kings might not buy that excuse.”Sara thought it might work but had to be worded properly.

“Yes, but if Carlisle presents it in a way to show that we had a close relationship with the tribe then we can use the fact that they are like family to us.It wouldn’t be that much of a stretch for the kings to believe that Carlisle simply didn’t want innocent lives taken.”Edward thought that would be a good excuse and something they could convince the kings of.

“So we have a plan for what our excuses are.Now we need to work out what we are going to do if none of them work.”Jasper said.

“I think that the obvious thing to do is fight our way out.”Edward suggested.

“I don’t like our odds.”Emmett didn’t think they would be able to take out the guard.

“Actually we might have a chance.If Rosalie is mated to Isabella than I can use the sire bond to force Rosalie to fight on our side.Isabella would of course follow her mate and with her fighting with us we could easily defeat the guard and the kings.”Carlisle knew that a vampire would always pick their mate over anyone else.All Carlisle had to do is implant the command and they would have Isabella on their side for eternity.

“With her we wouldn’t have to worry about the Volturi coming after us.We would have to reeducate her on the proper way to be a vampire though.”Edward wouldn’t put up with a Volturi soldier being part of his coven.Isabella would have to be taught how to be worthy of being a Cullen.

“You honestly think that you are going to be able to dictate what Isabella is going to do?”Emmett didn’t think that Isabella would do a thing Edward said.

“She will if Carlisle orders her to.If she doesn’t we will just have to use Rosalie against her.”Edward had no problem using Rosalie as tool to keep Isabella in line.

“Let’s not get ahead of ourselves.”Jasper said.”Even with the sire bond there is only so much control you have of that person’s mate.Isabella is very dangerous.If we started targeting Rosalie I have no doubt that she will just kill every single one of us and once that happens the sire bond won’t mean a thing.”

Carlisle cut Edward off before he could argue.”Son, Jasper is right.If we want to keep Isabella on our side then we have to show that we have Rosalie’s best interest at heart.If we start our relationship with her by being hostile she will fight us on everything we try to do.”

“And what happens if she tries to fight us anyway?”Edward asked.

“Then we will use Rosalie to calm her down.We will not threaten her though.”Carlisle was sure that it would be easy to control Isabella once she broke away from the Volturi.The girl was treated as nothing more than an object by the kings and would probably jump at the chance to be a part of a real family.

“I think we have some solid plans.”Alice said.

“Now we just have to wait to get the chance to use them.”Emmett said the other voicing their agreements.He felt better knowing they had plans but was worried that none of them would work.He did think that the Carlisle would be able to get Rosalie to side with them.That meant that Isabella would as well.The problem with that was he didn’t think that they would successfully get out of the castle without some of them getting hurt or even killed.It would all be up to if Isabella defected from the Volturi immediately or if she resisted.If she did resist then it would be guaranteed they wouldn’t make it out alive.Hopefully Carlisle could act quick enough and everyone would be safe.If he didn’t the kings would have no mercy on them.
