“Where did the Assassin go?”Rosalie asked Jane.After landing in Italy guards met them once everyone debarked from the plane.Carlisle, Esme, Edward, Alice, and Jasper were each put in separate SUVs while Emmett and Becky were allowed to ride together.Rosalie had ridden with Jane and the Assassin in a limo.Rosalie figured they got a limo because of the Assassin as it would make sense for the royals to want to make the Assassin comfortable.Not that it seemed the Assassin cared much as they barely paid attention to anything going on.Jane hadn’t even spoken to them and once they were at the castle they went off on their own.

“Probably to check and make sure that everything is ready for the Cullen’s imprisonment.”Even though Bella had checked it out before they left Jane knew that she would want to make sure the cells would hold them.

“Are they going to meet up with us?”Rosalie knew Jane was bringing her to meet Queen Didyme and King Marcus and would feel a lot better about it if the Assassin was there as well.

“I don’t know.”Jane stopped in front of an ordinate wooded door and knocked but before entering she warned Rosalie.”You will be in the presence of royalty.Regardless of who you are to the Assassin it will do well to remember who you are speaking to.”

“I will”Rosalie wasn’t sure what Jane meant by that but the threat was clear.

“Good.”Jane opened the door and entered kneeling in front of the king and queen who were standing watching them come into the room.”Your majesties I have returned from America and brought with me the Assassin’s new mate Rosalie Hale.”

Rosalie knelt next to Jane.”It’s an honor your majesties.”

“Please rise both of you.”Didyme wasn’t pleased to hear that Bella was mated to Rosalie.It wasn’t the fact that Bella had a second mate it was the fact that mate was a Cullen.”Come sit and tell us about how your mission went.”

“Thank you.”Jane motioned for Rosalie to sit on the couch next to her.

“How were the Denali?”Marcus asked.He knew they would need to talk to Rosalie about Bella but after learning about Bella’s friendship with Kate he wanted to know how that happened.

“They were surprised when we showed up but relaxed once it was obvious we weren’t there for them.”Jane said.

“How is it the Assassin befriended Kate?”Didyme was ecstatic that Bella made her first friend.The queen had already been getting things ready for when the coven visited.She wanted to make sure that they had a good time so that they would want to come back again.

“Once Tanya had finished her call with Carlisle the Assassin asked if they could use their video game console.Kate asked if she could play as well.The Assassin agreed and the entire time we waited for the Cullens the pair played together.Kate engaged the Assassin the entire time and even not getting much feedback didn’t discourage her.”Jane had been impressed with the way Kate interacted with Bella.The blonde vampire didn’t let Bella’s lack of speaking hinder their conversations or put a damper on their fun.

“I think Kate will be a good friend for her.”Didyme said.

“The Assassin is a woman?”Rosalie had suspected as such but having it confirmed was just one more thing that pointed to the Assassin being Bella.

Didyme had almost forgotten Rosalie was there.”I suppose we should have this conversation now.”

“It would be better to have it while she isn’t here.That way she won’t have to relive it.”Marcus knew Bella wouldn’t want to be forced to listen to them telling Rosalie about what happened to her.

“Is the Assassin Bella?”Rosalie blurted out.

“Yes, they are.”Didyme confirmed.

Rosalie was relieved to know that all this time Bella was alive.“When Bella was a human I knew that she was my mate the first time I saw her.”

“If that is true why did you not claim her?”Marcus asked.

“Carlisle uses the sire bond to control every aspect of not only my life but Emmett and Becky’s as well.When Edward decided that Bella was going to be his mate Carlisle used the bond to force me to stay away from Bella.”The original order had faded decades ago and Rosalie was glad that Carlisle hadn’t realized the Assassin was her mate because he would have tried and used the bond to his advantage.

“We knew the man had no regard for the laws but you are claiming he committed a very serious crime.I know you are telling the truth because I can see your bond.I just didn’t think Carlisle would stoop so low.”Marcus wasn’t sure why he was surprised because Carlisle would do anything to make his gifted coven members happy.

“He forced me to stay away while Edward flaunted their relationship.”Rosalie told them.”When we thought Bella had died I asked him to kill me so I wouldn’t have to live with the pain of losing my mate but he refused.Something I’m glad about now.”

“Although what happened to Bella after you left was horrific I’m happy that she wasn’t forced to stay with a false mate.”Didyme knew that if Carlisle turned Bella he would have made her ignore her bond with Rosalie and stay with Edward.Out of this whole situation that was the only positive.

“What exactly did happen to Bella?I saw the scarring on the hand and the missing finger and know she can’t speak.Was that because of how she was turned?”Rosalie asked.

Didyme took a deep breath before speaking of the painful memories she had watched play out in Bella’s mind.”When you killed the tracker you left his mate alive.”

“Victoria attacked her.”Rosalie concluded.She had brought up the possibility that the vampire would seek revenge but her concerns were ignored.

“Not only did Victoria attack her she created a bunch of newborns to help.”Didyme told her.

“Oh god.”Rosalie wasn’t sure she wanted to hear the details.

“With the help of a vampire named Laurent she created 6 newborns and brought them to Bella’s house.Bella and her father were home at the time.The newborns made quick work of her dad and when they got a hold of Bella they brutally tortured her.They kept her alive by injecting her with venom that Victoria would suck out when the change began so that she would be awake and able to heal from the damage they inflicted on her.We aren’t sure how long Bella was kept in that state.”Didyme tried to blink away the venom tears that would never fall thinking about what her daughter went through.

“How did she get away?”Rosalie had guessed Bella had a violent turning but could never imagine it would so horrific.

“She didn’t.”Jane said.”Once they had Bella Victoria’s full focus was on her not the newborns.Laurent tried to contain them but they of course got out of hand.He came to the kings because he knew that he was going to die for his part in creating them.I was dispatched with 6 others.We took care of the newborns easily but the kings wanted Victoria brought back alive so we captured her.When I was searching the area I came across Bella.At first I thought she was a mutilated wild animal the newborns got a hold of.It was as I went to dispose of the body I realized she was a human.”

“Jesus.”For the first since she was a vampire Rosalie felt like throwing up.

“When we got her to the castle we didn’t know how she was still alive.Even with the help of the venom there was no way to explain how she didn’t die from the injuries.”Didyme had remembered when she looked into those pained brown eyes for the first time.She had never felt so helpless.

“Bella’s a fighter.She survived by will alone.”Marcus said.

“Is her body scarred then?”Rosalie asked.

“There isn’t a part of her body that isn’t scarred.That’s why she stays covered.Bella doesn’t like people seeing her body.”It had taken decades for Jane to get Bella comfortable being around Jane without clothes on.

“She doesn’t even take off her mask around us and we have a parental bond with her.”Didyme told her.

“You have a parental bond?”Now Rosalie understood why she was meeting the pair instead of Aro.

Marcus nodded.”We do.”

“How does Bella communicate?”Rosalie asked.

“When Bella makes skin contact with you she can share her thoughts and feelings.It’s all by touch.”Jane explained.

“That’s incredible.”Rosalie had never heard of such a gift before.

“We think it manifested because the damage to her vocal cords happened before she was completely turned.”Didyme said.

“It will probably take a while until she is comfortable enough around you to actually allow you to touch her though.That’s not because she doesn’t accept you as her mate it’s just she doesn’t like to be touched by anyone.”In the beginning of their relationship Jane had been attacked many times when she forget herself and touched Bella without permission.

Rosalie remembered when she was first turned she would freak out when someone touched her.She was better with her reactions but she still didn’t like unwarranted touching.”I will make sure to ask her before I do anything.”

“I think another thing that should be brought up is that Jane is also Bella’s mate.”Marcus figured telling Rosalie everything right away was the right thing to do.

“You have a mate bond with Bella as well?”Rosalie asked in surprise.

“I know what you’re thinking.We don’t act like we are mated.”Jane could read the disbelief on Rosalie’s face.

Rosalie was very embarrassed because that was exactly what she was thinking.”I didn’t mean to offend you.”

“It’s alright.My relationship with Bella isn’t normal but we love each other very much and there isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for her.That includes working around her limitations.”Jane said.

“I guess I’ll need to figure out what those are when it comes to me.”Rosalie wasn’t sure she was that comfortable with Bella having a second mate but that discomfort mostly centered on the fact that Jane knew Bella so well.

“You just have to remember that even if she doesn’t act like it Bella loves you and is just as devoted to you as you are to her.”Jane never doubted Bella’s commitment to her.Her mate may not be traditional but she showed her love in other ways.

“I will keep that in mind.”Rosalie knew that she wouldn’t be a hundred percent sure until Bella communicated it to her but she would be patient and not let her insecurities get the better of her.

“Good now why doesn’t Jane show you to her and Bella’s wing.That way she can show you where not to go and what not to touch.”Didyme wanted Jane to be the one to escort Rosalie because it would show the rest of the castle that Rosalie was protected.

“Thank you for sharing Bella’s story with me.”Rosalie was happy that she learned it from them and Bella didn’t have to relive the memories.

“The best advice I can give you about how to build a relationship with my daughter is be patient.I promise once she starts opening up to you it will make it all worth it.”Marcus told her.

“I’ll do my best.”Rosalie had thought Bella was dead so she was going to do anything she could to make their relationship work now that she had her second chance.

“That’s all we can ask.”Didyme said.

“Come along Rosalie.If we hurry we may run into Bella before she locks herself in her room.”Jane hoped that Bella had calmed some because they had many things to plan that Bella needed to be involved with.Not only that Jane had a feeling the Denali would be in Italy soon and Bella wanted to hang out with Kate.

“I would like to say hi.”Rosalie would love the chance to see Bella.After hearing what happened to her Rosalie wanted to see for herself that Bella was safe and uninjured.She also wanted to make sure this was real and not some random hallucination.After living with Carlisle for so long Rosalie expected that he was somehow going to interfere and she would once again miss her chance with Bella.She wondered what he would do if he found out about her being bonded to the Silver Assassin.Rosalie wouldn’t be surprised if he tried to use the sire bond to somehow control Bella.The man was power hungry and didn’t care what he had to do to come out on top.Luckily Rosalie now had the support of not only Bella but Jane and the royals as well.That gave her enough confidence that she would get her happy ending with Bella.
