Deadly Weapon 7

“Here they come.”Athenodora said as she heard two sets of footsteps walking towards the room she and Caius were waiting in.The queen schooled her features to mask the fact that she was panicking.Isabella having a mate wasn’t causing the panic the identity of that mate was.At times like this Athenodora once again cursed fate for making Isabella and Jane sisters instead of mates.The pair were perfect for each other.This Cullen girl however was an unknown and Athenodora didn’t like not knowing.Bracing herself Athenodora watched as the door swung open and Isabella walked in holding the hand of blond haired vampire.She could admit the girl was pretty but looks wouldn’t get you far in the Volturi.

“Mother,father this is Rosalie.”Isabella introduced her mate.

“Hello Rosalie.It is nice to meet you.”Caius held out his hand impressed when Rosalie took it with a firm grip.

“My king the pleasure is mine.”Rosalie said.

“None of that king and queen business in private.You may call me Caius when we away from our subjects.”Caius put his arm around Athenodora.”This is my mate and Isabella’s mother Athenodora.”

Athenodora gave the girl a once over before holding out her hand.“Nice to meet you Rosalie.”

“Nice to meet you to Athenodora.”Rosalie made sure to keep her grip strong but not overpowering hoping that the royals would not thinking she was some wilting flower.

“Now that everyone knows each other come sit and tell us about your mission.”Caius said.

“Yes,father.”Isabella led Rosalie to a love seat and pulled her to sit down next to her.

Athenodora took a seat next to her mate on the couch across from the love seat.”We only heard the basics from Jane as we wanted to hear the details from you.”

“Well it was all over rather quickly.We spent more time bringing the coven to the plane then I spent defeating the army.”Isabella told them.”When we got there I shielded us from view to wait until all the newborns and Victoria to show up.While we were waiting Dimitri and another guard were searching the area.They found the mind reader hiding out with the human and one of the wolves miles away from the battlefield.”

“Of course the boy wouldn’t want to fight.”Caius wasn’t at all surprised that Edward was to afraid to fight with his so called family.

“Why didn’t he stand with your coven?”Athenodora asked Rosalie.

“Because he is coward.”Rosalie told them.

Athenodora was surprised by the venom in Rosalie’s voice.”I take it you didn’t agree with his choice not to fight?”

“I didn’t agree with any of Carlisle and Edward’s plan.I wanted to inform you of the whole situation but I was ignored.”Rosalie was actually happy she wasn’t listened to because not only had she met Isabella but her coven was most likely going to be killed off.

“Were you the only one who wanted to inform us?”Caius was curious about who wanted to follow the laws.

Rosalie nodded.”When we killed the tracker and his mate got away I suggested to Carlisle that we inform you because I knew she was going to cause problems.He dismissed my concerns telling me I didn’t know what I was talking about.”

“Idiot.Even in her grief she would be lucid enough to plan a proper revenge.It would be instinctual to make sure that every person who had a hand in the death was taking care of.She wouldn’t just rush into things.”Athenodora had seen the aftermath of what happened when a vampire had lost a mate.The destruction done to get revenge was a times catastrophic and the Volturi had to clean up after such events numerous times.

“That’s exactly what I told him.His reason not to act was because he thought that Victoria would have killed herself.”Rosalie explained.

“It is well known that Carlisle doesn’t respect women.He probably thought Victoria wasn’t smart enough to actually do anything because she wasn’t a man.”Caius was disgusted by Carlisle’s archaic views on women.Unfortunately many others shared them including Aro and Caius had many arguments with his brother about his treatment of the female members of the Volturi.

“How did he react when he saw you were a woman?”Athenodora asked Isabella.

“I wasn’t exactly paying attention to Carlisle when I revealed myself.”Isabella looked away in embarrassment.

”And what were you paying attention to?”Athenodora had a feeling that it was the blond but wanted Isabella to admit it.

“Well..it’s just.”Isabella stuttered out.

Rosalie decided to come to her rescue.”When Isabella lowered her hood we made eye contact.Both of our instincts took over and we rushed to each other.We actually had to be pulled apart by Jane.”

“I see.”Caius was glad he hadn’t gone to the battle.He wouldn’t want to witness his own daughter lost in a mating haze.”Get back to the fight.After Edward was captured what happened?”

“After we had the mind reader Jane allowed me to go after the army.It was very easy to over power them because they didn’t understand what was going on when I began attacking them.Some tried to flee but I trapped them in my shield.”Isabella was sad it wasn’t more challenging.Hopefully future mission would be more exciting.

“She was magnificent.I couldn’t look away I was so in awe.She was like a dancer as she tore through them in a perfectly choreographed dance.Each move as elegant as it was brutal.”Rosalie gushed.

Athenodora raised an eye brow listening to the praise Rosalie gave Isabella.”It seems you have an appreciation for battle.”

“I enjoy a good fight.I am not very skilled because Carlisle refused to let us train.”Rosalie rolled her eyes.”He believes that using violence is the fastest way to lose our humanity.”

“You would like to learn to fight?”Caius wanted to make sure he understood the girl correctly.

Rosalie nodded.”I have always wished to learn how to not only defend myself but to be able to dole out punishment to those who have wronged me.”

“So you wouldn’t be opposed to Isabella training you?”Athenodora asked.

“I would love for Isabella to train me.”Rosalie couldn’t think of anything better than Isabella teaching her how to inflict pain.

“Rosalie was attacked before she was turned.Once she was a vampire she caught and tortured her attackers.”Isabella proudly told them.

“Carlisle let you torture and kill humans?”Athenodora was very surprised to hear this.

“No, he was against it but he only had Esme and Edward at the time and they weren’t willing to do what needed to be done to stop me.”Rosalie said.

“If you aren’t against killing humans why do you drink animal blood?”Caius asked.

“I don’t want to drink animal blood.I am forced to by Carlisle.He with the help of the other Cullens monitor my every move.I’m not even allowed to ride in a car by myself.Every time I have tried to break free of them I am stopped because of Alice and Edward.If I had it my way I would have left them as soon as I figured out how to live as a vampire.”Rosalie had tried everything she could to leave the coven but Carlisle would never let her go.

“How do you feel about us punishing your coven?”Athenodora was hoping that Rosalie wouldn’t be opposed because the queen was looking forward to causing pain to at least Carlisle.She wouldn’t be able to do that if Rosalie wasn’t on board.Isabella wouldn’t let them because she wouldn’t want to upset her mate.

“The only request I have in regards to you punishing them is that I be allowed to help.”Rosalie didn’t want to miss the opportunity to finally get her revenge.

Isabella looked at Rosalie lovingly.”Isn’t she perfect?”

“I dare say she is.”Caius agreed.

“Well I personally will be more than willing to allow you to be involved with the punishment.”Athenodora was happy it seemed that Rosalie was not opposed to her coven being hurt.The fact that the girl wanted her chance at them was something the queen would allow as not only did Rosalie request it but if she actually went through with it it would show where Rosalie’s allegiance lie.

Rosalie didn’t even tried to hide her excitement.”Thank you Athenodora.”

“They of course will have to have a trail but as we have proof of their crimes it’s just a formality.When we decide their punishment I will keep in mind your request so that you will get your chance to show your displeasure.”Caius promised.

“Jane mentioned that you encountered some shifters.What were they like?”Athenodora asked getting back on topic.She wanted to know everything that happened so that they had all the facts of what the Cullens were involved in.It would make the punishment more severe with each crime they were guilty of.

“Weak and pitiful.Two of them tried to attack Jane but I stepped in and killed one and broke the back of the other.”When Isabella had seen them try to attack her sister she acted without hesitation.Her only thought was to keep Jane safe.

“I bet that didn’t go well with the rest of the pack.”Caius said.

Isabella shook her head.”It did not.The rest of them tried to attack me but I killed all them except maybe one or two.”

“Those two will probably never recover based on what I saw of their injuries.”The only regret Rosalie felt about how the wolves were treated was that she didn’t get the chance to kill a few of them herself.

“Why is it Carlisle never reported the shifter to us?”Athenodora asked Rosalie.

“He said it was because he was afraid that you would kill them because of your known hatred of the children of the moon.”Rosalie told them.

“You don’t believe that though.”Athenodora concluded.

“No, I personally believe that he was hoping to use them as allies to eventually fight you.”Rosalie said.

Caius laughed.”He thought some shifters would give him an advantage over us.”

“When Alice’s vision of the newborn army changed and our futures became blank we all knew the guard was going to interfere.Knowing this Carlisle started focusing the training we were doing with the wolves on what we knew of the most prominent guard members.He and the rest of the family were willing to stand against you.Isabella showing up ruined their plans however.”Rosalie couldn’t be prouder that her mate was the one who stopped Carlisle from getting them all killed.It gave Rosalie a chance to toy with him a bit until he died a slow death.

“I knew Carlisle was stupid but to think he could overpower any of our guard with his pitiful excuse of a coven and a few shifters.”Athenodora scoffed at the very idea.

“I’m personally surprised he even let you train at all.”Caius said.

“He was reluctant but conceded because he knew we were going against the newborns.”Rosalie too was surprised when Carlisle agreed to let Jasper teach them to fight.Jasper wasn’t the best teacher and Rosalie was excited to learn from Isabella.

“By the time Isabella is done with you will be able to take on a newborn army by yourself.”Athenodora had faith that Isabella would make Rosalie into just as much of a warrior as she was.

“I look forward to it.”Rosalie hoped that once trained that she would become a member of the guard and go on missions along side Isabella.

“With that said was there anything else that Carlisle was keeping from us?”Caius was excited to get the Cullens to trail so they could start the real fun.

“Not that I was personally told.Then again they don’t involve me in any of the decisions.”Rosalie wouldn’t doubt that Carlisle was involved in other crimes.

“Then I guess we will have to do our own interrogation.”The kings would usually rely on Aro to get the information but after her talk with her mate Athenodora didn’t trust the man to be truthful.The queen actually expected Aro to start to try and form his own army to take out Isabella and then move on to her and Caius.He would probably leave Jane and Alec alone because he had the false belief that the sire bond over powered the sibling bond.

“That is probably the best idea.”Caius was thinking the same as his mate.Aro couldn’t be trusted to tell the truth anymore.

“While we are waiting would it be alright to give Rosalie a tour of the castle?”Isabella wanted to show Rosalie her private rooms so she could start planning any changes she wanted to make to them.Rosalie being new to the castle would probably want to have some ownership of her space so that she had someplace comfortable to relax in.

“That would be fine.”Athenodora said.

Isabella stood from her seat and gave her mother and father a kiss on the cheek.”We will be awaiting word to join you for the trail.”

“It should be soon so don’t go too far.”Caius told her.

“It was lovely meeting you.”Rosalie was surprised when Athenodora stood and gave her a hug.

“We are very happy that you are mated to our Isabella.”Athenodora was telling the truth Rosalie turned out a lot better than they expected.

“Thank you.”Rosalie took Isabella’s outstretched hand and followed her out of the room.

Waiting until they couldn’t hear the pair anymore Caius spoke.”I think Isabella was right.Rosalie is perfect for her.”

“I agree.”Athenodora said.It seemed their fear of Rosalie being a weak animal drinker was for not.If anything the girl was going to be a formable foe to any that challenged her in the future.It made the queen happy that her prediction that Isabella’s mate was a vampire that matched not only her daughter but Isabella’s bond mates in temperament.Of course Rosalie had a ways to go to be ready to present her to court as the princess’ consort but she seemed willing to put in the effort.That Athenodora could work with and when the queen was done with Rosalie she would be worthy of being a Volturi.
