Silver Assassin 1

“Are you alright?”Emmett asked Rosalie.He was unsurprised that when he searched for his sister he found her in the forest by herself.Ever since they had found out about Bella’s death 50 years ago Rosalie had been spending more time in solitude barely interacting with anyone including the family.Emmett understood why.Rosalie was in mourning and no amount of time would ever truly fix her heartbreak.

“I just can’t believe Carlisle is letting him get away with it again.”Rosalie replied.

“I wish it were different.”Emmet said.

“Neither of us have the power to make it different.”Rosalie and Emmett were stuck.Carlisle was their sire and through that bond they were forced to abide by his rules.If they didn’t the price they would pay for disobeying him would be extreme.

“I’m sorry it turned out this way for you.”Emmett would always feel bad for his sister.He at least had a mate to go through this with.Rosalie had no one.

Rosalie shrugged.”I was treated like an object my entire human life it’s no surprise that it continued on in my immortal one as well.”

“I hate that I can’t help you.”Emmett didn’t like feeling helpless but as long as they were under Carlisle’s control that’s exactly what he was.

“I accepted my fate that day in the parking lot.”Rosalie told him.

Emmett immediately knew what Rosalie was talking about.The day she first saw Bella and Edward claimed the human as his own.”It’s still not right.”

“I know Emmett but it’s my burden to bare.You don’t need to feel bad about anything.”Rosalie appreciated her brother’s concern but she had too many emotions of her own to deal with to be able to deal with someone else’s.

“Is it wrong that I hope the Volturi come for us this time?”Emmett asked.

“I was hoping the same thing.”Rosalie admitted.

“If we are lucky they will summons us all to go to Italy and we will get a chance to prove that Carlisle forced us to go along with him.”Emmett said.

“I don’t know if they would even care about you,Becky and me.We aren’t that important.”If it did happen Rosalie held out little hope that she, Emmett and his mate Becky would be spared.

“I wonder if Aro would even care enough to make a deal with Carlisle.This is not first law we broke.Hell this is the second time we broke this one.”Emmett mused.

“By Edward claiming yet another false mate bond with a human and us leaving her with the knowledge it is actually two laws we have broken twice.”Rosalie corrected.

“I doubt Carlisle would stop him from doing it again.”Emmett wouldn’t be surprised if Edward would try again soon.

“It would be hard to justify another second chance mate.”Rosalie said.

“If we went before the kings then you could prove that Bella wasn’t Edward’s mate.That would implicate Carlisle in another crime.”Emmett knew the Volturi were firm believers in bonds.That’s why it was a death sentence to anyone who claimed a false one.Forcing a vampire to reject the bond earned the same punishment but before you were killed you were tortured by the guard.

“It’s all just a pipe dream to think we would get the chance to go in front of the kings.”Rosalie wasn’t going to let herself feel any kind of hope.Carlisle wouldn’t ever let them get caught.That’s why Alice kept a close eye on the Volturi making sure they were safe.

Emmett sighed.”I know.”

“I’m sorry Emmett.You and Becky out of all us deserve a better life than you are stuck in now.”Rosalie said.

“At least we have each other.”Emmett would always be thankful that Becky had found him in the forest after the bear attack.Even if things didn’t turn out the way he wished he was still thankful he had his mate by his side.

“Yeah.”Rosalie really was happy for her brother.It didn’t stop the jealously she felt when she saw the other mated vampires in her family.It wasn’t until she looked into brown eyes that she understood what she had been missing her whole life.Now with Bella gone she knew that she would never have what the others had.Every time she had seen them together was a spike to the heart knowing that she would never get to feel what they were feeling.

“What do you think about contacting Aro ourselves?”Emmett asked.

“How would we be able to get away with it without the others finding out?”Rosalie had thought about doing it already but wasn’t sure how to do it without Carlisle finding out.

“Edward is gone right now and Alice doesn’t give a shit about us unless she needs us to play our part as her perfect siblings.She would never expect us to go against Carlisle so if we just randomly reached out then they wouldn’t know we did it.”Emmett explained.

“It’s true we haven’t done anything lately that has us on Alice’s radar.”Rosalie agreed.Alice was another problem she and Emmett had within in the coven.The small vampire was obsessed with having the perfect family.If someone tried to step out of their role she immediately complained to Carlisle.Carlisle always sided with the seer as he didn’t want to lose her or her mate’s gift.”The only problem I see is someone giving Carlisle the heads up that someone ratted him out.”

“I don’t think that will happen.”Emmett said.

“Why not?”Rosalie asked.

“For this they would probably send the Silver Assassin and anyone who contacted Carlisle would be on their hit list.”Emmett told her.

Rosalie shivered at the thought.The Silver Assassin was a vampire that became a part of the guard decades ago.No one knew the vampire’s origin or anything about them.It wasn’t even known if the vampire was male or female.The fact that the vampire never spoke a word to anyone even the kings made them even more mysterious.What made Rosalie so uncomfortable was the vampire was even more feared than the Witch Twins.The Silver Assassin got their name because of the sliver mask they wore covering their face and the way they dealt with threats.Silently and brutally killing anyone who stood against the Volturi.It didn’t matter if you were gifted or a skilled fighter.The Assassin had never lost.The trail of bodies they left in their wake was many and no one wanted that vampire to go after them.

“I may want Carlisle to get in trouble but if the Assassin came then none of us will make it out alive.”Rosalie may not fear death but she didn’t want whatever painful death she would be given at the hands of the feared vampire.

“True.I bet they wouldn’t even question us.They would probably just come and before we even realized they were here we would be dead.”Emmett wasn’t afraid of many things but the Silver Assassin wasn’t someone he wanted to ever cross.”Do you think there is a way for us to let the kings know that we sent the message without anyone else finding out?”

Rosalie thought through their options.They didn’t have many.”Tanya gave me her phone number a few years ago and told me to reach out if I ever was in trouble.”

“I didn’t know you were close.”Emmett had never seen Rosalie interact with the coven leader.Then again they didn’t see the other coven that often.

“We aren’t but I think she sensed that something was wrong.She tried to speak to me about it but every time she searched me out someone would interrupt us.I think that’s what made her suspicious.If I reached out to her and told her what happened she would help us.”Rosalie was sure that Tanya would be on their side.The Denali were big on following the law.

“While you do that I’ll distract Alice.That way she doesn’t have a chance to focus on you.”Emmett knew that it would be easy to get Alice’s attention.He would just have to ruin some of his clothes.That usually made the seer angry enough that she would start a fight and when Alice was emotional she never put any effort into her visions.

“It sounds like we have a plan.”Rosalie said.

“Give me 10 minutes and then contact Tanya.”Emmett told her as he rubbed his body on a tree ripping his pants and getting dirt on his shirt.Giving Rosalie a wave over his shoulder he took off towards the house.

Rosalie smiled as she watched him run away.Her face felt uncomfortable with the motion as it had been a long time since she had smiled about anything.Thinking about Carlisle’s demise was something worth smiling about though.Rosalie pulled out her phone and watched the clock.She wasn’t one to allow herself hope but this might just give her brother and his mate the freedom they wanted.If she was truly lucky she could petition the kings to kill her.Something Carlisle had denied her from doing ever since she found out her mate was dead.Vampires couldn’t live without their mates and by keeping her alive it was one more way for Carlisle to torture her.Hopefully by sending the text to Tanya it would be the beginning of Carlisle and the rest of his blind followers’ downfall.
