“I can’t believe we just took a rowboat across the Pacific Ocean to Japan.”Rosalie said as Isabella pulled the boat out of the water onto the shore.They had left from Washington state ten hours before and Isabella had rowed the whole way. Rosalie had been worried about getting wet but Isabella used her shield to not only keep them dry but to cut through the storms and stormy waters they were faced with along the way.It was a rather strange way to travel and Rosalie had been surprised that it didn’t take a lot longer than she initial suspected it would.

“You’re lucky, she usually makes us swim.”Rose said checking over her gear to make sure she hadn’t lost anything along the way.

“Was the crash really that bad?”Rosalie asked.

“It was terrifying.We all thought we were going to die.If it hadn’t been for Isabella’s quick thinking we would have.”Rose shivered just thinking about the incident. When the plane had caught on fire Rose had kissed Emmett for what she was sure was the last time and then as she turned her attention to Isabella to say her goodbyes, she found her friend was already on her feet headed to the cockpit hands out directing her shield to not only the engines but around the plane itself.It was a sight to behold and had shown all of them just how powerful Isabella truly was.

Isabella tucked the boat out of the way.She wasn’t expecting to come back for it so she wasn’t worried about hiding it to well.“I wouldn’t have let that happen.”

“Well we didn’t know you could control your shield as well as you did so we weren’t as certain as you were.”Rose said.

“Regardless we have a vampire to find.”Isabella wanted them to get back on track.

“Do either of you speak Japanese?”Rosalie asked.As she didn’t she wasn’t sure how they were going to speak to the locals.

“We don’t need to.”Rosalie pulled out a small silver disk and put it on her temple.”These are something I came up with.They are universal translators.When placed on your temple they send signals to your brain allowing you to understand any language.I synched each of the ones we have to the internet and downloaded all the different dialects available.”

Rosalie took the disc out of her jacket pocket and put it one her temple the same way Rose did.”That’s amazing.You developed this yourself?”

“I did. It was inspired by Isabella’s travels. She is horrible at learning languages so I knew she would need something to help her.”Rose told her.

“Now that we are all set we need to go to the town that Tanya told us about.Hopefully it’s as big of a vampire hangout as she described.”Isabella figured if it was like the vampire clubs back home they would be able to find out some useful information.

“It’s not far.Follow my lead.”Rose took off followed by Isabella and Rosalie.It was night time so even with Isabella’s shield they didn’t have to worry much about humans seeing them.When they got closer to the place Tanya had told them about each of the trio could smell the familiar scent of vampires.”How do you want to play this?”

“Use the blood replenishing liquid to change our eye color.No one is going to trust us if they think we don’t drink from humans.”Isabella pulled out a vial from her pocket and drank the entire contents.

Rosalie wasn’t expecting to feel much of a difference when she drank the liquid but as a sense of overwhelming euphoria overcame her she staggered.All the thirst and sluggishness she had felt since becoming a vampire had fled and she realized that she felt stronger and more alert.”Jesus, that’s a rush.”

“Usually we don’t use the whole vial but we want our eyes to stay this way for a while so we needed the whole thing.”Rose looked at her two companions satisfied with the redness of their eyes.”I think we are good.What’s our cover story?”

“We are a trio of nomads that are looking to stay out of trouble.That way it will make people give us warnings and boast about how much tougher they are than us.”Isabella told them.

“Even though they aren’t”Rose added.

”Even though they aren’t.”Isabella agreed as she made her way to the steel door on the building they were told about.She wasn’t surprised when a security guard met them outside.

“Yeah what do you want?”The burly man asked.

“We are just here for a drink and some company before the sun comes up.”Rose said smoothly using her gift to convince the man she was telling the truth.

“Of course come on in.”The man stepped out of their way and held the door open for them.

“That was easier than I thought it would be.”Rosalie mumbled.

Rose lowered her voice so that only Rosalie could hear her.”You are still learning about your gift.If you practice enough you won’t have to give commands at all.You just have to word things a certain way and force your intent on the person.”

“Seriously?”Rosalie asked surprised.

Rose nodded.”It will be like second nature once you get the hang of it.”

“Let’s take that table over there.”Isabella said leading the way to an empty table that was far enough away for the illusion of privacy but exposed enough that they were more than likely to be approached.

“Should we order a drink?”Rosalie asked noticing the bar.

“You don’t want the type of drink they offer here.”Isabella said pointing to the cages of humans against one of the walls.

Rosalie gasped in surprise.”That’s horrible.”

“No it’s vampire nature.The fact that we sustain on animals doesn’t change the fact that our species survives by killing humans.Also if you notice the tattoos on the humans’ arms you will realize they are from prisons. The tattoo could be fake of course but it is much more profitable to sell criminals.Vampires like the idea of being the bigger predator so when they get the chance to toy with someone who thinks they are tough they enjoy it more than someone who is feeble.”Isabella explained.”That doesn’t mean there aren’t many of our kind that like to prey on the innocent it’s just in places like this it would make them seem weak to the others.”

“Huh.”Rosalie hadn’t know places like this existed let alone the mentality of the patrons.Just like she expected she was learning a lot more about being a vampire than she ever would have without spending time with Isabella and Rose.

“Incoming at six o’clock.”Rose murmured as she saw a blond haired male vampire walking their way.

“Let me lead.”Isabella said as the man walked up to their table and took a seat without asking.

“Hello ladies.It looked like you wanted some company.”The man said. It was obvious he thought he was being charming and that the three women were easy marks.Isabella was about to give him a rude awakening.

Isabella made a dismissive gesture with her hand as if to shoo the man away.“If the company being offered is yours we will have to pass.”

“What?”The man asked to confused to be offended.

“I see you have exceptionally bad hearing.”Isabella leaned forward and raised her voice.”We have no intention of wasting our time with a man like you.Now why don’t you bother someone who would actually fall for your lame excuse of a pick up line.”

The man’s cocky smile turned into a frown as his eyes hardened when the rest of the bar started laughing at him.”Who the fuck do you think you are to talk to me that way?”

“I am someone who could take off your head before you even had time to blink that’s who I am.”Isabella told him.

“You jumped up tart.I’m going to kill you.”The man made a move to stand but before he could even make it off the chair Isabella had both his arms ripped from his body and a hand around his neck.The man’s eyes almost bugled out his head and his body began shaking with fear.”P..ple…please…do…don’t….kill…m..me.”

“Oh I’m not going to kill you.”Isabella smirked at the obvious relief coming off the man.”That would be to easy.What I’m going to do is let you live with the shame of being defeated so easily as was witnessed by the entire bar.That is a much better punishment.”

A random woman who Isabella was sure was security walked up to the man and took his arms from Isabella.”I’ll take it from here ma’am.Thank you for not destroying the bar.”

“It wasn’t the bar that offended me.”Isabella told her.

“Well that was fun.Next time it’s my turn though.”Rose said as she sat back in her chair with a smile.She loved it when Isabella was able to let loose a little bit.Not that what she did was actually letting lose but it was nice to see the way the other vampires in the room gave them wary glances while others looked at them with more respect.

”Can you teach me how to do that?”Rosalie wasn’t sure what to think about the whole incident.She had never seen someone remove a vampire’s limbs so quickly.

Rose chuckled.”I’m sure she can as she trained me and I can do it.”

“I’m starting to think you held back a lot when you trained all of us.” Rosalie said.

“Of course I did.If I actually trained you as hard as I trained others half of you would have quit while the others would have been pissed at me for hurting their mates so badly.”Isabella had felt the group in this dimension was to soft hearted.They wouldn’t have been able to handle proper training.

“I guess that makes sense.I wish you had been able to have more time to train me better though.”Rosalie was sure that if they had more time then she would have learned more advanced moves and techniques.

“I would volunteer to train you but I’m not that great at teaching others.I like to fight to much to hold back and don’t have the patience to deal with questions.”Rose had tried to train some of the guard once and gotten frustrated enough that she pulled one man’s tongue out because he wouldn’t stop asking question after question.

“Well you have your daggers with you right?”Isabella asked.

Rosalie nodded.”Yeah they are on my belt.”

“Then I will run through some more moves with you if we have any down time.It would do well for you to learn to fight with one at a time in each hand so it becomes second nature for you to respond if you for some reason drop one.”Isabella would like running through some moves with Rosalie.She enjoyed spending time with her and anything that could help Rosalie keep herself safe was something that Isabella was willing to help out with.

“It seems we have another taker.”Rose said as this time a woman of medium build and tall approached them.

“Hello, may I sit down?”The woman asked.

”Since you asked so nicely who are we to refuse.”Isabella motioned to the empty chair at the table the man had vacated.

The woman chuckled.”The names Velma.I saw what you did to Dereck and thought I would come over here to thank you on behalf of most of the bar.The man has been a thorn in all of our sides since he started showing up about two weeks ago.”

“None of us take kindly to jackasses who obviously see us as easy marks.He’s just lucky I was the one to deal with him.The twins are even deadlier than I am.”Isabella figured calling Rosalie and Rose twins was the easiest way to introduce them.

“Is that right.”Velma seemed to be appraising the pair.”It’s rare that you find vampire twins.Of course there are the witch twins but I’ve never seen identical twins before.”

“Our sire was the kind of man who liked to collect the unusual.”Rose told her.

“Oh yeah like what?”Velma asked.

“I would rather not spread around the kinds of things the man was interested in.I will tell you that it was because of his interests that we took our time killing him.”Rose bared her teeth causing Velma to flinch back.

“I see.So what brings the three of you to Japan?”Velma was obviously trying to get information out of them and it was all Isabella could do not to smile at the weak attempt.

“We wanted to find Godzilla.”Isabella had brought home a bunch of Japanese Godzilla movies and her family as well as most of her friends had liked them so much that they fought over who got to see them next. It was Kate who brought up that if Isabella ever went back she should try and find the giant lizard.

Velma laughed.”I doubt you will find him.You would have better luck finding the lockness monster.”

“Maybe we will go hunting for that next.We want to check out some volcanos and a few of the local mountains first though.”Rose easily played along even though she had no clue what Velma was talking about.She would look it up later.

“Is that really why you are here?”Velma asked more bluntly.Rosalie noticed that most of the bar’s occupants were paying attention to their conversation.

“It is part of the reason.You know how it is when you are as old as us.We need to find ways to keep from getting bored.When we heard about this place we thought we would check in and see what is happening in the world.The three of us are quite isolated so it’s been years since we have been around others of our kind.”Isabella explained.

“I don’t want to be impolite but are the three of you mated?”Velma asked.

“We are.”Rose lied.Not only would it keep others from hitting on them it was a good cover for why they didn’t socialize.It was easy enough to fool people because of how strong her and Isabella’s bond was that most people assumed they were anyway.

“Interesting, I wonder if that is common amongst twins?”Velma mused obviously lost in her own thoughts.

“We’ve never run into any others to know.”Rosalie wasn’t sure about how she felt about being considered Isabella’s mate but she wasn’t disgusted enough not to play along.They may not have a romantic bond but if it was even half as strong as Isabella’s with Rose nobody would be able to deny the affection the pair had for the brunette.

“So it’s seems you are looking for some gossip then?”Velma asked.

“It would be nice to know what is going on so we can stay out of any upcoming battles or stay out of dangerous territory.”Rose said.

“Well I can tell you that there are rumors of a powerful vampire in America.It’s said she has the ability to shield other’s minds from mental influence.”Velma told them.

“Really?”Isabella tried to sound as skeptical as possible.

Velma nodded.”Yes, I was told by a friend of mine who was in South America when this vampire who was a telepath went to a bar there bragging about how strong his mate was.When my friend asked him why he wasn’t with her he said that she had been kidnapped.I’m not sure how accurate that is but my friend isn’t one to tell tall tales.”

“I would think if there was a vampire that strong that the Volturi would have taken interest in her.”Isabella said.

Velma shrugged.“That’s another rumor going around.It seems the boy went to them telling them about his situation asking for help and he was turned away.”

“I don’t know.If someone was that powerful then I would think that many would be fighting over her.”Rose wanted the vampire to think they didn’t believe her so she would give them more information.

“What I heard was second hand but I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of people would be trying to recruit her.Or at least try to bargain with her to get her to shield their minds as well. If it were me I would turn it into a business and charge people through the nose for it.Something that powerful could turn the tide of power in the vampire world. It would render most of the Volturi’s gifted guard members useless.”Velma said.

“You make a good point.”Isabella looked to both Rose and Rosalie.”What do you think?Should we investigate?I mean maybe the girl would help us.It would be nice to have protection against those that would harm us.”

It took Rosalie a moment to understand what Isabella was trying to do.”I think we should.”

“I agree. It might help us stay safe if we get confronted by any other vampires we run across.”Rose said.

“Do you have any information on where to find her?”Isabella asked.

“I don’t know exactly but from the research my friend did the vampire he talked to was from Washington state in America.From the animal drinkers to be specific but I don’t think that’s true as the vampire’s eyes were as red as ours.”Velma told them.

Rosalie held back a flinch. It seemed Edward had abandoned his principles in his obsession.She wondered how Carlisle would feel about that.”I heard that they were a bit self-righteous.I doubt one of them would actually give up something they thought gave them humanity.”

“That’s true.They are almost as bad as the ones in Alaska.”Rose said.

“How you met them before?”Velma asked.

Isabella nodded.”I had a tussle with the leader about oh 600 years ago.I’m not proud to admit I was kneeling before her within minutes of our meeting.”

Rose almost choked trying to hold in her laugh.Although it was true Isabella was kneeling before Tanya within minutes of meeting her it was because they had shed their clothing before even speaking to each other.Their mate bond was exceptionally strong and Tanya was a very sexual person.She had taken one look at Isabella, picked her up and carried her to the first available private room which was Kate’s and they didn’t leave for over a month and that was only because they needed to feed.Kate was still pissed about that.

“You ok?”Velma asked giving Rose a weird look.

“Yes, I just remembered the incident. It was quite funny learning that someone as strong as my mate was rendered useless in the presence of the coven leader.Especially because she was an animal drinker.”Rose told her.

“If she’s that formable I will have to think twice about confronting an animal drinker.”Velma said.

“So besides the shield stuff is anything else going on?”Isabella sent a smile at Rose knowing exactly why she laughed.Her and Tanya’s coupling had been the stuff of legends amongst most vampires.

Velma lowered her voice so only the three could hear her.”I heard something about a few vampires trying to recruit.I don’t know who their backers are but I think there may be a war on the horizon.After what you just showed taking care of Derick and if you are telling the truth about the twins I wouldn’t be surprised if someone approaches you.”

“Thank you for the warning.”Rose said. She wondered if they made enough impression to get the attention of the vampire they were looking for to seek them out.The man hadn’t shown up to the bar yet but if he was a regular he would certainly hear about the incident.”It’s good to know that kind of stuff when you are independent from any faction.”

“You three seem like good people.I figure if I hadn’t heard of you before and you’re as old as I think you are then you spend a lot of time keeping your nose clean.If something is coming it would be good to get out of here and make yourselves scarce.”Velma told them.

“I think we will take your advice.We were excited about visiting others but I don’t want to become cannon fodder for some idiots trying to fight for power.”Isabella said.

“Yeah I think we will just keep to looking for Godzilla.”Rose agreed.

Velma chuckled.”Well I’ll let the three of you enjoy your night.If you’re interested they have better drinks in the back.They just got in two child molesters.You know how much our kind detest anyone who messes with children so if you want them you will have to act fast.”

“We fed on our way here.”Isabella told her.

“Enjoy your evening.”Velma stood and walked back to her place at the bar where it was obvious the other patrons were asking her what she found out.

Rose lowered her voice.”Do you want to get out of here?”

“Yeah, we need to make a plan and contact Tanya.She needs to know that people are searching out Bella.They might not be able to wait to change her anymore.”Isabella would have preferred if Bella had been changed a long time ago but it wasn’t her decision to make.

“I didn’t even think of that.”Rosalie said as she followed the other two out of the bar.She didn’t like the idea that Bella was in danger to begin with as her bond with the human made her feel protective over Bella. Now it seemed like they all had more to worry about than just Edward.The Volturi knew about at least Bella’s gift. Probably about Isabella as well if Edward had approached them.Rosalie did wonder if Edward knew about anything else though.He hadn’t been around when Kate and Jasper had learned how to properly use their gifts. He also didn’t know Rosalie had one at all.Then there was the fact he wasn’t around for when the Irish coven arrived or Garrett either. That meant he probably didn’t know anything about Maggie’s gift and Garrett’s stealth ability.He would have had to have spies in place to know anything that personal and Rosalie didn’t think the wolves would miss something like a vampire scouting around the territory. Especially with the training Isabella had given them.That meant that Edward knew very little about who he was dealing with and that made Rosalie feel a lot better about the situation.If the group had been able to so easily take care of the newborns,with Isabella and now Rose’s help they would be able to take on any threat that came.Rosalie was sure of it.
