Mother Nature 11

“Thank god you’re back.” Irina said as she and the others heard Rosalie’s door open and a set of footsteps making their way to the stairs. In Tanya’s absence Kate had taken to clinging to Irina only leaving her alone to search out Tanya who was in Rosalie’s room. Irina loved Kate but hated the way she was acting. It was quite obvious Isabella wasn’t out to get any of them except for Edward and Carlisle but Kate didn’t believe it. If anything since they made contact with Isabella Kate had become more paranoid and was jumping at shadows. Irina hoped that when the woman finally visited that she would talk to Kate because everyone was getting sick of the way Kate was acting.

“Finally. Is that woman gone?” Kate jumped up from the couch where she was sitting next to Irina and ran towards the stair only to stumble backwards as she got close to Tanya and Rosalie growled at her. “What the fuck?!”

“Kate you need to stay away from me. I will not be held responsible for anything Rosalie does to you if you touch me.” Tanya warned as she carried Rosalie bridal style into the living room.

“What’s going on? Why are carrying Rosalie and why did she growl at me?” Kate didn’t understand anything that was going on at the moment. She knew Tanya and Rosalie were close but Rosalie had never been hostile to her when Kate was around Tanya before.

Tanya took a seat in an arm chair and restituted Rosalie to sit comfortably on her lap. “If you would calm down we will tell you what is going on. Where is everybody?”

“Since all of us are here I can guess you mean Edward and Carlisle.” Irina said annoyed that Kate resumed clinging to her. The Cullens minus Edward, Carlisle and Esme were all in the living room with the Denali watching tv. Well they were pretending to watch tv. Mostly they were wasting time waiting for Isabella to come. That and keeping an eye on Edward. “Carlisle is in his study with Edward. The door is closed so we can’t hear what they are saying. Esme is outside in her garden. We suspect that Carlisle has forbidden her from speaking to us anymore.”

“Yeah she didn’t even say a word to us on her way out the door. She didn’t even ask if anyone wanted to help her.” Emmett said.

“It just proves what a mindless idiot she is.”Edith wanted to say she was surprised by Esme acting the way she was but the woman never stood up to Carlisle so if he ordered her not to talk to anyone Esme would just go along with it.

“Anyway are you going to tell us what’s going on?” Kate asked impatiently.

“Yes Kate I’m going to tell you what’s going on.Rosalie and I have recently found out we are mates.” Tanya expected the surprised looks the rest of the vampires other than Rosalie had on their faces.

“I thought Isabella was Rosalie’s mate.” Alice said confused.

“Well it seems that not only is Isabella my mate she is Tanya’s also. We each feel the mate bond with each other.” Well Rosalie hoped that Isabella felt the bond. That was just another question to add to the list of things she wanted to ask Isabella.

“So how didn’t you know you were mates before this?” Carmen asked.

“Apparently Isabella’s father decided that when Isabella met her mates he didn’t want them to be in a relationship before we met Isabella for fear we would reject her.”Tanya told them.

“Isabella’s father? Does that mean you know what she is?” Jasper didn’t doubt the mate bond and now that it was in place it made sense to him the emotions he always felt when Tanya and Rosalie were together. They weren’t quite the feelings of a mated couple but they did go above friendship. Now though all he felt from them was the love between a bonded pair.

“Isabella didn’t tell us exactly what she is but I do think she is a goddess like we thought.” Rosalie said. “She also gave us both a courting gift that I’m pretty sure couldn’t come from anyone who wasn’t a god.”

“She gave you a courting gift? Is she from the Middle Ages? Who gives courting gifts anymore?” Kate hadn’t heard of courting gifts in over a century.

“She said that to show the seriousness of her feelings she had to present us with a gift that was worthy of us.” Rosalie had thought it was quite romantic. When she was human she received gifts from suitors but they had been given with the intention of showing how wealthy the man was. It was never about what Rosalie would actually like.

“What did she get you?” Edith asked.

“She gave us a liquid that made it so our skin will no longer sparkle in the sun.” Tanya told them.

“Seriously?” Emmett didn’t know that was even possible.

“Yes, we tested it out before the sun went down. It works and Isabella said it was permanent.” Rosalie had already been planning a beach day when Isabella came back to visit. She liked the idea of seeing both her mates in bikinis laying in the sun.

“Holy shit.”Kate could barely wrap her head around being able to go outside in the sun like a human would. “Can she make our skin not sparkle to?”

“It was a courting gift Kate I doubt Isabella would just give you the liquid because you asked for it.” Irina was interested as well but didn’t want to pressure Tanya and Rosalie to ask their mate before the family even got to meet her.

“I mean it isn’t that big of a deal. It’s just something to stop us from sparkling. I’m not asking for a kidney.” Kate grumbled.

“I’m not asking my mate for anything Kate. We haven’t exchanged mating marks yet.” Rosalie wasn’t going to ask Isabella for anything other than to spend time with them. Well that and maybe to get naked with her and Tanya. That would have of course come after a lot of kissing. Or maybe the kissing would come after they got naked. So many sweet possibilities. Rosalie’s mind couldn’t pick a favorite.

“Tanya you love us don’t you?” Kate turned pleading eyes to her sister.

Tanya ignored Kate’s puppy dog look. It usually made her give in but not this time. “I’m not doing it Kate. Besides she said she got it from someone else.”

“So maybe she could introduce you to the person she got them from and you could ask them.”Kate was undeterred. She knew Tanya wouldn’t let the family down.

“It’s not happening Kate. We haven’t even had an hour with our mate it’s way to soon to be asking her for favors.” Tanya told her.

Kate threw her hands up in the air in defeat. “Fine I’ll let it go for now.”

“So since she isn’t here now how did the visit go?” Alice asked.

“It was short.” Rosalie grumbled.

“She promised to come back tomorrow.” Tanya reminded her.

“Wait Isabella is coming here tomorrow?!” When Tanya nodded Kate climbed onto Irina’s lap. “We need to leave.”

Irina tried to shove Kate away from her but was having no luck. “Two minutes ago you were begging Tanya and Rosalie to get Isabella to do you a favor and now you are back to being convinced she is out to get you.”

“I want her to do a favor far away from me. I just know she is waiting until she can get me alone.” Kate snuggled into Irina at the thought.

“Why would she want to get you alone?” Carmen asked.

“I don’t know maybe to torture me before she grants me a painful death.” Kate said like it was obvious.

Emmett laughed. “You think Isabella would go out of her way to catch you off guard to capture you so she can slowly torture you death?”

“Duh.” Kate didn’t understand why no else caught on to Isabella’s master plan.

“I don’t think she is out to get you Kate.” Alice didn’t think Isabella was out to get anyone other Edward and Carlisle.

“How do you know?! She may have been nice to you just to make me think it was alright to relax so she could strike.” Kate said.

“Ok let me get this straight. So when Isabella went to visit you you tried to attack her and instead of fighting you she simply froze you in place. Leaving you unharmed.Then you believe she visited Alice and was nice to her so that she could lull you into a false sense of security so she could exact her revenge.” Kate nodded so Edith asked.”How do you explain how she acted when she met Irina and Rosalie then?”

“It just more tricks. She is just trying to get more people on her side so she has a fall back plan incase she can’t get me alone.” Kate told her.

Jasper and the rest of the room started laughing.” And what is her purpose for all this? Why does she have a specific vendetta against you and no one else?”

“I haven’t figured that out yet.” Kate grudgingly admitted.

“So you have no reason for someone who claims to be a goddess to single you out out of the group of us?” Alice asked.

“Maybe it was something I did in a past life that offended her and now that she found me again she is exacting her revenge.” That was the only reason Kate could think of that Isabella would be after her.

Irina rolled her eyes.“Now you are claiming that she isn’t really after you but you from a previous life.”

“She’s a goddess who knows why she does things. It’s not like I’m going ask her and she already lied to you and Rosalie saying that I didn’t have to fear her.” Kate didn’t think Isabella would tell any of them the truth if she was asked.

“I can’t take it. This the best thing ever.” Emmett said in-between laughter.

“How are you going to react when you see her again? I mean Rosalie is a part of your coven and Tanya is your leader. That means Isabella will be around more.” Carmen looked to Tanya who nodded in confirmation.

“It is both Rosalie and my hope that Isabella will be spending a lot more time with us. Eventually we want to introduce her to all of you and make her a part of the family.” Tanya wanted Isabella to eventually live with them. She didn’t know if it was possible though.

Feeling Kate freeze on her lap Irina became concerned.She started shaking Kate trying to get her to respond. “Kate,Kate are you ok?Tanya what the hell is wrong with her?”

“She is in shock.” Tanya shifted Rosalie off her lap and made her way over to Kate. Putting her arms around her sister she whisper softly in Kate’s ear. “It’ll be alright Kate. No matter what I’ll protect you. Even from non existent enemies.”

“Is she ok?” Carmen was very concerned. Kate was still not moving and for a vampire that couldn’t sit still it was alarming.

“She’ll be fine.” Tanya assured her. Picking Kate up off of Irina’s lap Tanya cradled her to her chest. “Kate you don’t need to worry. Isabella is my mate. That means I can make sure she doesn’t hurt you because if she hurt you she would hurt me and mates can’t hurt each other.

Irina sighed in relief when Kate finally snapped out of it and wrapped her arms around Tanya. “Thank god.”

“How about the two of us and Rosalie go for a drive. Just the three of us. We can go see that new movie you wanted to see.” Tanya figured if they could get Kate to spend some time with them that she would relax. Tanya would have to ask Isabella if there was something she could do to ease Kate’s worries. Initially she thought Kate was being dramatic but now she was genuinely worried about her sister.

“That sounds like a good idea.” Rosalie would prefer to spend time with Tanya alone but it was obvious that Tanya was needed in her coven leader role right then.

"Ok.” Kate agreed. Isabella wouldn’t bother them if they were in public and Tanya was right mates couldn’t hurt each other even emotionally. That meant Tanya could protect her.

“Good. We are going to go to Port Angeles to catch a movie. If anything happens let me know right away.” It was left unsaid but what Tanya meant was if Edward and Carlisle left Tanya wanted to know.

Understanding that Tanya wanted them to monitor Edward and Carlisle Jasper nodded his head. “We will send you any updates right away.”

“Thank you.Rose will you drive? I’ll sit in the backseat with Kate.” Tanya figured Kate would feel more secure with Tanya close to her. She really didn’t want to be dealing with this at all and would prefer to be back in Rosalie’s room spending time with her mate but it was obvious Kate needed her.

“No problem.” Rosalie easily agreed. Kate was worrying her and Rosalie wanted to help her feel better. Even if that meant sharing her mate.

“We’ll take your car.” Tanya said as she carried Kate to the garage and put her in the backseat of Rosalie’s BMW. Kate was less catatonic but still wasn’t acting like herself which was very concerning. Tanya didn’t know how they were going to get Kate comfortable around Isabella but they needed to figure out a way because Tanya didn’t want to have to choose between her mate and her sister.
