“First we need Rosalie to get comfortable.” Bella said.
“How should I lay?” Rosalie asked as she shifted around on the bed. She wasn’t sure if she felt more nervous or excited about what was going to happen. Rosalie wasn’t going to back out though. Bella was going to give her her life back and there was nothing that would stop her from going through with it.
“Flat on your back is best.” Bella told her.
Rosalie moved some of the pillows out of the way and laid flat on her back. At least she was in comfortable clothing. The clothing Bella picked out for her were gym shorts and a t-shirt that smelled just like Bella making Rosalie think that Bella hadn’t washed it after she had worn it. The smell did help her relax so she appreciated having it. “Is this good?”
“Perfect.” Bella laid a blanket over Rosalie. “Your body is going to get very cold so Sebastian and I will be making sure to keep your body temperature up. When you wake up you will be covered in sweat so don’t freak out if you feel wet.”
“Got it.” Rosalie didn’t remember what it felt like to sweat but she figured it was the same as when she finished a bath or a shower.
Bella leaned down and gave Rosalie a soft kiss. “Now close your eyes. You will feel an intense heat but before it becomes uncomfortable you will be asleep and won’t even notice.”
“I can do this.” Rosalie said closing her eyes.
“What are you going to do know mom?” Sebastian asked.
“It’s going to be a lot similar to when I heal except my magic will be red and brighter.” Bella told him.
“Why would your magic be red?” Sebastian had never seen his mother’s magic turn any color other than green, blue and yellow.
“When I heal a life threatening injury my magic has to be a lot stronger to fight it. For some reason when it is that intense it turns red.” Bella turned her attention back to Rosalie. “Now you will begin to feel the heat. Relax as best as you can and we will see you when you wake up.”
“Alright.” Rosalie said.
Bella rested her hand over Rosalie’s heart. As her hand began to glow red Rosalie gasped then fell on the bed almost lifeless. Seeing Sebastian’s concern Bella reassured him. “She is fine, just in a healing sleep.”
“Are you sure?” Sebastian didn’t like the way Rosalie was just laying there not even breathing.
“I’m positive. Now watch closely. I know you can’t hear it but if you want you can hold her wrist.” Bella said.
“What are you going to do?” Sebastian asked.
“I’m going to restart her heart.” Bella told him. “Hold your fingers over the pulse point and shield your eyes it’s going to get very bright in here.”
“Ok.” Sebastian excitedly held Rosalie’s wrist in his hand flinching back at the coldness of it. “Why is she so cold?”
“Her body is dead so there is no blood pumping through it keeping it warm.” Bella focused her magic on Rosalie’s heart and willed it to repair the dead organ. As she did the light flared brighter and brighter almost to much for even Bella to see through it. She didn’t stop though, just pushing more and more magic into Rosalie’s body.
Sebastian almost dropped Rosalie’s arm when he felt a sudden pulsing under his fingers. “I can feel it.”
“That was the hard part.” Bella grunted as Rosalie’s body fought against her magic. “Now I need to transform her venom into blood.”
“Why didn’t we just get blood bags and give her blood that way?” Sebastian was worried by the way his mother was seeming to strain herself. He had never seen her have any trouble when healing before. Then again she never let him watch anything to serious.
“The venom would just destroy it. What I’m dong right now is not only transforming her venom but revitalizing her organs.” Bella explained.
“Don’t you need to concentrate to do that?” Sebastian didn’t think his mother should be talking to him if she was doing something so important.
Bella chuckled. “It isn’t that hard to do. Well it isn’t that hard for me to do now. The first time I did it I was a nervous wreck and didn’t even know if it was possible.”
“I thought you said that it had been done before?” Sebastian thought that meant by people other than his mother.
“I was the first one to do it and no one has tried since I changed my first vampire.” Bella corrected herself. “Well someone could have tried but I would think we would know if they were successful. You know how my kind are about bragging.”
“Yeah if one of the fairies was able to do this then they would tell everyone.” Sebastian was happy his mother wasn’t like most of her species. She not only didn’t look like them but she was humble and didn’t like the attention she received. He knew that if someone else had his mother’s power and looks they would probably try to take over the entire fairy realm. Many people had wanted Bella to rule but his mother wasn’t comfortable having power over others. “How did you know what to do if it had never been done before?”
“I had met many vampires in my life and most didn’t like being vampires. It was when I met a man that had been in a war that resulted in him being extremely disfigured that I learned how to change him. I initially was just going to regrow his missing body parts and remove his scars but as I was in the middle of the healing I realized that I could restart his heart.” Bella told him. “I repaired the damage as I promised I would and when I was done I explained that I thought I could change him back to human. He was more than willing to be my test subject and after a few slow hours of using my magic very carefully on him he was changed back.”
“So you figured out how to do this by accident?” Sebastian wasn’t surprised that his mother offered to help the man heal his wounds and scars but he was surprised she developed a way to change him back to human.
Bella nodded not taking her attention from Rosalie. “When I was repairing his body it was almost like it was calling out to me to change it back to human. It was like I could feel the sickness and my magic adapted to fight it.”
“That’s amazing.” Sebastian didn’t say it out loud because he knew it would upset his mother but this was just more evidence that she was part angel. Bringing the dead back to life was a huge deal even if Bella didn’t think so.
“It is what it is. Can you put the heating pads on her legs and feet and turn them on high?” Bella asked.
“Why just her legs and feet?” Sebastian was already moving the pads in place.
“Once her blood starts warming up her organs her body is going to change back. Her limbs won’t have the blood as quickly so we need to make sure to keep them warm until it does or it will cause Rosalie a lot of pain and she would wake up. I’m told it hurts a lot if you go through this awake so I would rather she stay asleep.” Bella explained.
“That makes sense.” Sebastian said.
“In a few minutes you can do her arms to.” Bella told him.
“No problem.” Sebastian was happy that he was able to help even if it was just putting some heating pads in place. “How much longer until you are done?”
“About an hour more of infusing her with my magic then she will sleep for a couple hours after I’m done.” Bella was already seeing some color coming back to Rosalie’s skin.
“It looks like she is starting to change.” Sebastian also could see the slight color coming to the exposed skin at the top of the t-shirt Rosalie was wearing.
“In about ten minutes her skin will start changing back.” Bella said.
“I wish it didn’t take so long.” Sebastian wanted Rosalie to wake up so they could not only see her as human again but to know she was alright.
“It took about five hours the first time. This is quick.” Bella would prefer it be quicker as well but she didn't want to rush it and have something go wrong.
Sebastian finished putting all the heating pads in place and turning them on and then grabbed a chair and pulled it next to the bed. “I guess all we can do now is wait.”
“Yup.” Bella agreed. The hard parts of the healing went well now they just had to get to through the tricky details. It was delicate work because Bella was trying to heal so many different parts of Rosalie at once but Bella was confident that she would succeed. Rosalie was counting on her and there was no way she would let Rosalie down.
