When Dawn Breaks 50

“We have 32 confirmed shifters coming in the next few days.” Rosalie told Bella as they were in Bella’s study going over the things Bella brought back from the bunker to show her. Rosalie had spent most of the day reaching out to the shifters she knew of and making arrangements for their people to travel to the White House. “I suspect that more would come but the alphas ordered them to stay behind.”

“Are you having most of them travel by commercial airplane?” Bella asked.

“Some but I looked into the pricing and connivence and it was cheaper to rent a plane for most of the people from Maine then to buy last minute tickets to get them here.” Rosalie hadn’t been pleased about how much money they were spending on this but every time she thought of the price tag she reminded herself that the money wasn’t being wasted it was being spent to save shifters. “The coyotes and the wolf pack are coming commercial. We just need people to go pick them up.”

“I’ll have some of Gene’s tribe pick them up from the airport and bring them here. Where are you planning to put all of them?” Bella wasn’t sure how they were going to accommodate 32 more people in the house.

“Some of the children want to move to the tree house so that will clear out a few of the rooms. I figured for the rest of them we could get some air mattresses and set them up in the ballroom for the time being.” Rosalie told her.

“That’s a good idea. I know you don’t want them in the private wing so that would probably be the place with the most room.” Bella said.

“I just want our family to have our own space and for you to have somewhere that you can have some privacy to unwind. I know you have been extremely stressed and the fact that everyone is looking to you to fix their problems isn’t helping.” Rosalie had still not finish putting their rooms together and was hoping that the last of the things she ordered would be delivered by the end of the day so she could finish it the next day for Bella.

“Thank you of thinking of me my love.” Bella pulled Rosalie onto her lap and kissed her. She wanted to prolong the kiss but they had things to do before they could relax for the day.

Rosalie wrapped her arms around Bella’s neck and rested her head on Bella’s shoulder. She wanted the day to be over but they still had many things to do. Rosalie hoped that with the extra shifters they would be able to finish this mission quickly because she desperately wanted to start her life with her mate. They had so many things to look forward to in the future and Rosalie just wanted a chance to get started. “Did you leave Emmett in the bunker when you left?”

“No, he mentioned he needed to go hunting and something about trying to wrestle a bear shifter.” Bella said.

“He’s going to try to wrestle a bear shifter?” Rosalie felt Bella nod her head. “Is he going to be alright?”

“He’ll be fine.” Bella assured her. “If anything I feel like he is about to get a lesson in what it feels like when your enemy is stronger than you.”

“I think we should make sure to have at least Jasper there to help him out.” Rosalie figured if Emmett accidentally hurt someone or upset the shifters it would be good to have a least one of their group there to support him.

“I’m positive that most of the people here will be there to watch. You can go as well if you want to.” Bella wasn’t worried about Emmett. He would either win or learn that he wasn’t the strongest person he knew. Bella figured it would be the later as she knew bear shifters were a lot stronger than vampires. They weren’t as strong as her or Rosalie but she figured they would be stronger than Emmett.

“If you’re sure.” Rosalie would still check in before they went to bed. She trusted Bella’s opinion but still worried for her brother. He wasn’t known for knowing when to quit and Rosalie worried that he would push to far and someone would be offended.

“I’m sure. He will be perfectly fine.” Bella promised.

“Ok, I’ll trust you.” Rosalie motioned to all the papers and the laptop on the desk in front of them. “What did you bring back to show me?”

Bella pulled a file out of the pile and opened it showing it was filled with pictures. “First we have the pictures of every human I have been able to confirm are involved in this.”

“Are any of them vampires?” Rosalie asked as she looked through the pictures.

“I have found the names of a few vampires but I have not been able to get any pictures of them.”Bella told her.

“That’s to bad.” Rosalie said. “It would have been nice to be able to identify those of my kind that were involved so we could keep the shifters away from them. I don’t want them to be recognized by their scent.”

“I agree but we did get the names and pictures of the main humans in charge. I called my dad and asked him to do background checks on each of them. He said he would email what he finds out when he is done.” Charlie had been all to happy to help Bella out. Bella had sensed the eagerness in his voice to be useful.

“That was another good idea. Maybe we could also give computer access to a couple of the shifters to have them research all they can about each of these people. With the way social media is and the way people like to brag they could find out something useful.” Rosalie knew the shifters would be more than willing to help out. Now that they had made even the small amount of progress they had the groups were getting excited and wanted to be involved in catching the people who had attacked their young.

“I think there are a couple of laptops in the main house. When you have the air mattresses ordered have the person get a few more as well. We will need them for this.” Bella said.

Rosalie flinched at the thought of how much this was costing but once again reminded herself that all the money was going to help the shifters. “I can do that. I have been emailing with your assistant so I will have her buy those too.”

“I know this costing a lot my love.” Bella knew that Rosalie wasn’t comfortable spending so much money.

“It is but I keep reminding myself that this is to make not only the shifters safe but to keep our children safe in the future. We can’t have people out there targeting shifters. If we allow this to continue it would be putting a target on not only your head but our children as well. They are the next generation of tiger shifters and I don’t want anyone thinking they can take them and experiment on them.” Rosalie said.

Bella pulled Rosalie into a kiss. “I love that you are already so protective of our children.”

“I never thought I would have any. Now that I have proof that I will I would destroy anything that got in the way of them being safe.” Rosalie would fight a god if she had to to keep her children safe. Not that she doubted Bella would as well.

“I know you would.” Bella almost felt pity for those in charge of all of this. Rosalie was a caring person but she would kill anything that posed a threat to not only Bella but their future children. She had no doubt that by the time this was all over not only her hands but Rosalie’s hands would have blood on them as well.

“What else did you bring back?” Rosalie asked.

“I found proof of some dummy corporations the vampires set up to hide the fact that they were funding all of this.” Bella told her.

“How can we go about shutting down those companies?” Rosalie figured if they could cut off the flow of money then they could cripple the abilities of the bad guys to continue their research.

“That will be somewhat hard and almost to easy.” Bella said. “As the corporations don’t actually exist it makes them obvious money laundering routes. I am going to contact an old aide of my grandfather’s who is now a senator and see if he can do anything about investigating them.”

“That does sound easy. Almost to easy.” Rosalie was sure there was a catch.

Bella nodded. “That is where you are right. Even if we get someone to investigate the companies it will take time. A lot of time. Time we don’t have.”

“At least it will help in the long term.” Rosalie was disappointed that it wouldn’t help right away but she would take what she could get. “What are your plans for short term?”

“Well first we need to find out more about our targets. Once that is done then we can move the shifters into place so they can do surveillance on each of them. Then I need to talk to my grandfather’s friend. I sent him an email and am waiting for him to call me.” Bella told her.

“And you are sure you can trust this man?” Rosalie was worried that Bella’s grandfather’s friend would turn Bella over to the authorities and Bella would be experimented on.

“My grandfather had great trust in him. I think he may even know about our shifting abilities. I can’t be sure though so that is why I am going to make sure to meet him away from the estate. That way if he doesn’t then he won’t see everyone here. I don’t think we can keep our secrets if someone came to the White House with all the shifters and vampires around.” Bella didn’t doubt for one second that someone would slip and their secret would be out.

“I want to go with you when you meet him.” Rosalie wasn’t going to let Bella go on her own to meet anyone who Rosalie thought could be dangerous.

“I didn’t think you would stay behind.” Bella said. “I’m hungry why don’t we get some dinner before we finish going over all this stuff.”

“Good idea. That will give me a chance to check on Emmett.” Rosalie wanted to make sure her brother was safe.

Bella chuckled.” He will be fine I promise.”

As Rosalie follow Bella out the door making sure it was locked after them she wasn’t so sure. Bella may have been confidant that Emmett wouldn’t get hurt but Rosalie didn’t think Bella understood how unpredictable her brother could be. When Emmett was excited he forget basic things like manners and Rosalie was positive him fighting a bear shifter would end with Emmett losing a limb at least. She quickened her steps hoping that she could make it in time that if he did lose a limb she would be able to get it back in time for him to reattach it.
