Mother Nature 6

“Do you think we will actually find her?” Irina asked Rosalie as the pair were walking through the forest behind the Cullens’ home.They had been out there for over an hour and not only had they found nothing but they hadn’t heard word from anyone else. Irina was convinced the woman wouldn’t waste her time visiting them after she gave both covens their warnings. She was happy however that Kate chose to go with Tanya because Irina didn’t even want to imagine what a nightmare Kate was being with how afraid of the woman she was.

“Last time we found the necklace. Maybe this time if we don’t actually find her we will find a way to contact her.” Rosalie hoped they would find the woman because she really wanted to meet her mate.

“I still think this idea is a bust. It’s not like she is just waiting for us to find her.” Irina jumped when a woman’s voice came from right behind them.

“I believe you are looking for me?” The voice said.

Rosalie quickly turned around to see a woman standing under a tree.She was most beautiful woman Rosalie had ever seen. She now understood why Alice had said she looked like a fairytale princess. The woman had on a white summer dress with a circlet of flowers on top of her head and her entire being seemed to glow. It was her voice that caught Rosalie’s attention the most though. Each syllable the woman spoke felt like a warm caress and Rosalie suddenly felt like no matter what happened in the future everything would be alright if this woman was by her side. “Yes we are.”

“I see. Is there a specific reason for that?” The woman asked. When the woman’s eyes made contact with Rosalie’s the brown eyes flashed to a sky blue with fire blazing through out. When the woman’s eyes changed back to brown she began chuckling. “It seems my father has been influencing the fates.”

“Excuse me?” Irina asked. She wasn’t sure what the woman was talking about.

“It’s nothing to worry about Irina. Now why is it you and your covens are traipsing through the forest upsetting the balance?” The woman didn’t seem hostel she simple sounded curious.

Irina wasn’t sure why Kate had been so scared of the stranger. Irina felt completely at ease with the woman. “We wanted to talk to you about your warnings.”

“I see.” The woman said. “And what about those warnings do you wish to discuss?”

Rosalie watched in awe as the woman was slowly being surrounded by animals. She had thought Alice had exaggerated when she told them how they reacted to the woman but as Rosalie watched a squirrel jump from a branch above the tree where the woman was standing and the woman easily catch him Rosalie realized Alice had been telling the truth. Rosalie smiled when she noticed a mountain goat rub its horns against the woman’s leg obviously trying to get her attention. She almost expected the woman to break out in song at any moment.

“My coven came to meet up with the Cullens because we were afraid that their coven leader was going to get them in trouble.” Irina too was awed by the sight of the random animals that continued to emerge around them all going to the woman. She watched in disbelief as a mountain lion and her cubs pushed through a group of wolves to get close to the woman.There was no fighting amongst the animals at all. They all just seemed to be focused on the woman and had barely spared a glance at Irina and Rosalie.

The woman bent down and picked up one of the cubs.”I’m not surprised that Carlisle would not take my threat seriously. The man has the mind set that drinking from animals makes him more human. He never accepted the fact that he is not.”

“It is not only him that we are worried about. It’s his mate Esme and his first turned Edward also.” Rosalie watched as the cub snuggled into the woman’s neck wondering how soft the animal was.

Noticing her attention on the cub the woman asked. “Would either of you like to hold one?”

“I would.” Irina immediately accepted the offer.

“I would as well.” Rosalie said.

“Just make sure you are careful with them.” The woman told them.

Irina gently held the cub and ran her hand over it’s fur. “Man, Kate is going to be so jealous.”

“Oh Katerina.”The woman chuckled.” I was surprised she actually chose to enter the forest of her own free will.”

“She is very afraid of you.” Irina said.

“She has no reason to fear me.”The woman handed the other cub to Rosalie stopping when she moved away from her to run her finger over the flower on the necklace Rosalie was wearing. “I see you have something that doesn’t belong to you.”

“Alice and I found it when we came to look for you.” Rosalie was embarrassed at getting caught wearing the necklace.

“I was wondering where that went. I love my children but they aren’t always careful with my things.” The woman mused.

“Would you like it back?” Rosalie hoped she didn’t.

The woman shook her head. “No you keep it. I imagine the feeling of warmth you have obtained from it has been pleasant and I wouldn’t want to take that feeling away from you now that you have experienced it.”

“How does it work?” Irina asked.

“If I tell you it would ruin the trick.” The woman said with a smile. “Now why don’t you tell me why you believe three members of your coven are going to be a problem.”

“Well as you said Carlisle would never give up a diet that makes him feel more human. His mate Esme goes along with everything he says.” Irina told her.” When we first talked to them about your visit Carlisle said he didn’t think you were much of a threat. He also said that he didn’t think we should kill you but that we should capture you to figure out what you were and experiment on you.”

Irina took a step back when the woman’s face turned angry and her eyes turned blue with an obvious fire raging in both irises. “A weak vampire thinks he is capable of going against a goddess?!”

“Wait you’re a goddess?” Rosalie asked almost regretting it when the woman turned her fury on her. She sighed in relief when the woman’s face softened when their eyes met.

“I am many things Rosalie.” The woman said cryptically. “I will have to think of a better punishment for Carlisle and his mate when they go against my warning. What of the mind reader? What are his plans?”

“Edward believes that if both covens unite then we could easily kill you. When none of us went along with that plan he claimed with his gift you would be no match for him.” Rosalie was no longer worried about Edward hurting her mate because when she saw the woman’s eyes flash she understood Kate’s fear. Rosalie somehow knew the woman wouldn’t hurt her but the dangerous aura the woman put off made Rosalie almost feel sorry for anyone who crossed her.

“He seems to think he is superior because of his gift doesn’t he?” The woman asked.

Irina nodded. “He thinks because he knows what everyone is thinking that it gives him power over us. Often times he tries to get others to do his bidding by using their secrets against them.”

“So not only is he delusional in his belief that he could win a fight against me but he misuses the gift he was given.” The woman seemed to be thinking over something important. “I guess the only way to make him realize how insignificant he actually is, is to take that ability away from him.”

“You could do that?” Rosalie would love it if Edward no longer could read her mind.

“I will have to make a personal visit to him.” The woman said ignoring Rosalie’s question. “I have to go now.”

Rosalie stopped the woman before she could turn away. “Wait can we talk?You’re my mate.I want to get to know you.”

“I know we are what your kind calls mates. I regretfully do not have time right now to spend with you. I will however visit you tonight if you would like.” The woman offered.

“I would like that but before you go can you tell us your name?” Rosalie would take what she could get from the woman.

“What name do you think I should be called?” The woman asked.

Rosalie thought about it for a minute. “Isabella, Bella for short.”

“Well then it’s nice to meet you Rosalie Hale and Irina Denali my name is Isabella but you can call me Bella.” The woman smiled seemingly pleased with Rosalie’s choice. “I must go now though. I will see you tonight Rosalie.”

“Did that just happen?” Irina asked as she and Rosalie watched the woman seem to disappear into thin air.

“Yes, yes it did.” Rosalie confirmed. As the cub in her arms started to squirm she set it on the ground and watched as it ran off to join it’s mother and all the other animals that had come to see the woman.

Irina looked up from her cell phone.” I sent out a group text and Tanya is having everyone meet us here. She doesn’t want Carlisle or Edward to overhear anything we have to say.”

“That’s a good idea.” Rosalie definitely didn’t want Edward to know he would be losing his gift.

“Are you guys alright?” Tanya asked a she came running up to them.

Irina rolled her eyes when she noticed Kate attached to Tanya’s back.”We’re fine.”

“Hey guys.” Emmett greeted as he and Edith followed by Alice, Jasper, Eleazar and Carmen joined them.

“So what happened?” Kate looked around cautiously. “She isn’t still here is she?”

“No she left.” Rosalie had wished she stayed longer but was happy that she would be seeing her again soon.

“What did you guys talk about?” Tanya didn’t think the pair looked traumatized like Kate was so she hoped they were able to plead their case to the woman.

“Well she knew we were looking for her.” Rosalie told them.

Kate shivered. “I told you she was watching us.”

“She did mention that she was surprised that you willingly came into the forest.” Irina told Kate.

“See she’s out to get me. None of us are safe.” Kate snuggled closer to Tanya’s back.

Irina rolled her eyes at Kate again. “When I mentioned you were afraid of her she said that you have nothing to fear from her. So I don’t think she is out to get you.”

“I’m still not letting my guard down.” Kate figured as soon as she got comfortable the woman would strike.

“What else did she say?” Tanya ignored Kate knowing that Kate would get them off track.

“Well we told her about what Carlisle had said about capturing her and experimenting on her.” Irina flinched thinking about the woman’s eyes. “I now know why Kate is afraid of her. When she got angry her eyes changed and it was like she was radiating fury.”

“See I told you guys. She isn’t safe to be around.” Kate was happy someone else understood her fear.

“Well I wouldn’t say she isn’t safe to be around. Towards Irina and I she was very nice and she even let us hold two mountain lion cubs.” Rosalie had enjoyed experiencing what it felt to hold an animal that she wasn’t feeding from.

“What the fuck!!” Kate yelled in frustration. “How come everyone but me gets a nice friendly visit that includes snuggling forest creatures?!!”

“I would like to once again point out that you tried to attack her almost as soon as you met her.” Irina reminded Kate.

“Still I mean she could have released me after proving her point and let me at least ride a moose or something.” Kate grumbled.

“Anyway after we told her about Carlisle’s plan she got angry and said how dare he think he can go against a goddess.” Rosalie told them.

“She’s a goddess?!!” Emmett was now more excited than ever to meet this woman. He bet she could do all kinds of cool stuff.

Rosalie shrugged. “When I asked she just said that she was many things. She never confirmed or denied it.”

“I don’t know if I believe in gods and goddesses but if it were true then she must be some kind of nature aligned goddess. It would explain why she called the animals her children and why she wants us to stop hunting them.” Eleazar was going to try and research what he could but he honestly didn’t know how to find out proof of a goddess being real.

“What happened after that?” Tanya asked.

“Well we told her about Edward’s plan to get us all together to fight her.” Rosalie held up a hand to stop everyone from talking.”Don’t worry we made it very clear that none of us wanted any part of that plan.”

“Thank god.” Kate didn’t want the woman coming for them because of Edward.

“After we told her that he was planning on fighting her himself and that he felt that with his gift she wouldn’t be able to defeat him, we then explained how Edward uses his gift against people. She then said something to the effect that since Edward was misusing his gift that she would have to take it away from him.” Irina wished she could be there when Edward’s gift was taken from him.

“Holy shit, she can do that?” Edith couldn’t believe someone could actually take away a vampire’s gift. “Maybe the woman is a goddess.”

Tanya was even more happy they hadn’t gone against this woman’s warning. She didn’t know if the woman was actually a goddess but it seemed she was powerful enough to be considered one. “Did anything else happen?”

“When I asked for her name she asked what name should she have and I told her Isabella. She then introduced herself to us as Isabella.”Rosalie smiled thinking of the fact that she gave her mate a name.

“You actually named a goddess?” Alice couldn’t believe it. Not only was Rosalie mated to a goddess but she gave the goddess a name.

Rosalie nodded. “After that she left. She did tell me I could keep the necklace. Although when Irina asked how it worked she wouldn’t tell us.”

“What are we going to do now?” Jasper asked. He was somewhat interested in the fact that this Isabella woman could take away a gift. He would have to think about if he wanted her to take away his own. Although it was useful the bad outweighed the good some times.

“Well since Isabella knows we aren’t joining Carlisle and Edward’s side in a fight against her I think we simply go on with our lives but stay away from the those two and Esme” Tanya figured things could go back to normal but she didn’t want anyone near Carlisle or Edward when they made their move against Isabella.

“I don’t want to be near either of them anyway so it’s no great hardship for me.” Emmett was actually kind of glad he had a legitimate reason to not take orders from Carlisle. It seemed Tanya was willing to take the rest of their coven in so he was going to just listen to only Tanya when it came to future decisions.

“Good now that that’s out of the way everyone can go about your day. There is no reason to hang out in the forest anymore looking for Isabella.” Tanya dismissed the group. She was going to wait until they got back to the house so she could talk privately with Rosalie. She wanted to talk to her about how she felt having a mate. It seemed like Rosalie didn’t really care that it was a woman which made Tanya happy because with Carlisle’s influence Rosalie could have been subjected to a lot of self loathing. Rosalie had enough issues so she didn’t need to deal with that as well. Tanya was just going to check in with her and make sure she was coping with everything. She knew if she were in Rosalie’s shoes she would want someone to check on her.
