Every Time It's You 28

“Prepare to meet your doom.” Kate taunted Isabella as she stood across from Isabella with Isabella’s sword held in her hand. Isabella had spent an hour with each member of the group expect for Tanya and Bella who both got two hours. Isabella had worked with both alone and then together to work out techniques to keep Bella safe during the fight. Kate thought that was unfair but didn’t complain because she didn’t want her turn taken away. Now that she got her chance she was hoping that Isabella wouldn’t keep to a time limit because no one came after Kate.

“I’m prepared to get my ass kick don’t worry Kate.” Isabella promised.

“Good. Then someone call it.” Kate said.

“Begin.” Alice called out excitedly. The whole group had been waiting to see how Isabella would be able to defend herself against Kate while not having any weapons.

“Be careful Kate.” Tanya wasn’t happy that Kate was using the sword even if it was against Isabella who could easily protect herself. Tanya just knew something bad was going to happen like Kate accidentally stabbing herself or stabbing someone else and a limb being lost.

“It’s Isabella who should be careful.”Kate shouted as she ran towards Isabella who easily sidestep Kate’s swing. Kate was undeterred and came at her again. After the fourth time of Isabella not even making a move on Kate, Kate threw her hands up in frustration. “Why aren’t you fighting?”

Isabella smiled at Kate. “I’m simply showing you that how you fought against humans doesn’t work when you are fighting a vampire.”

“Ok then can you show me what I’m doing wrong?” Kate asked.

“Let’s set up some of the body targets and I can show you. We won’t need them anymore so it won’t matter if we destroy them.” Isabella figured that it wouldn’t be a big deal if they damaged the targets because after she was done with Kate she wasn’t going to be training anyone else.

“So how should we do this?” Kate was trying to hold back from just going at the targets but it was hard. The promise of learning more from Isabella was the only thing that stopped her.

“Hand me my sword and I will slowly go through some moves to show you the best ways to heavily damage a vampire.” Isabella accepted the sword from Kate and moved up to the target. “You will notice as I move that it is a lot different from how you learned when you were human.

Kate took a step back and watched as Isabella easily sliced though the body target. She could see how Isabella’s technique differed from her own. “I think I get it. I was more focused on stabbing whereas you were more focused on slicing.”

“Exactly.” Isabella was happy that Kate could easily see what was different. “When you were human you could rely on the target bleeding out but with vampires even though the sword will go through their body they can shake off wounds that humans can’t. That’s why the best way to defeat a vampire with a sword is to basically dismantle them until you get a chance to take off their head.”

“I think I got it. Let me try.” Kate took the sword back and tried to use what Isabella had said as she sliced through the body target. It was a lot different than what she was taught before and it felt like relearning all over again.

“Good job. Do you want to fight me again.” Isabella asked.

Kate nodded. “Yeah this time I will definitely be able to strike you.”

“Someone call it.” Isabella said as she and Kate stood apart from each other.

“Begin.” Alice called out again.

“I really wish they wouldn’t do this.” Tanya mumbled. As she watched Kate rush Isabella again she had to admit that there was an advantage to using a sword. Although Kate wasn’t that coordinated with it now that she was trying to remove parts of Isabella’s body Tanya could tell that if she was fighting a real enemy she would probably have done a lot of damage. It reinforced Tanya’s belief that she should ask Isabella to make her a weapon of her own. After watching how much Rosalie, Emmett and now Kate could do it made sense why Isabella didn’t want their group to train with the others. Even with the limited fight training they all had gotten they could have decimated everyone else if they had went against them. It also made Tanya feel more confident that they would actually be able to defeat Victoria and her army without causalities. She was positive that with the wolves they would be able to wipe the army out quickly.

“She’s having fun and it isn’t like anyone will get hurt.” Irina understood her sister’s worry but Irina trusted Isabella. She would never allow Kate to get hurt and even if by some fluke she did then Isabella had the healing serum that fixed her own shoulder that would likely be able to fix whatever happened.

“I kind of want to try next.” Maggie said earning a surprised look from Irina. “What it looks like fun. I mean how many other chances are any of us going to get to use a sword that doesn’t break?”

“You have a point but it still looks dangerous.” Irina didn’t want her mate trying it at all.

“You just said that no-one was going to get hurt.” Maggie reminded her.

Irina sighed. “Yes I did. I don’t want you to actually be put in danger but if you would like to try I will support your decision.”

“Great.”Maggie gave Irina a kiss on the cheek. “I’ll ask when they are done.”

“I myself was going to ask as well.” Liam said.

“Yeah it would be kind of fun to fight with a sword.” Emmett agreed. As he predicted after training with Isabella he was a much better fighter. He honestly believed that if he went against Jasper he would have a chance at winning. Even without his gloves. If he used his gloves he would no doubt come out on top.

“Isabella said she wanted some down time before the fight. We shouldn’t pressure her into doing more for us.” Rosalie knew that Isabella hadn’t been to happy about doing the personal training and doubted she would want to spend her time teaching everyone how to use a sword.

“That’s true. Maybe she will run through some moves with a couple of us. Even just trying it for a few minutes would be fun.” Maggie wasn’t deterred. If Isabella said no then she would respect the vampire and not push. Isabella had done more than enough for each of them and Maggie had been grateful for all the help she gave.

“Ok Kate let’s go through that again but in slow motion. That way you can see all of the openings I left for you to attack.” Isabella said.

Kate watched as Isabella moved slowly and noticed all the spots she could have taken advantage of.” I see what you mean.I could have taken not only one of your limbs off but you left a big enough opening that I could have taken your head.”

“Exactly. If you miss the first opening don’t worry to much because you are almost guaranteed to get another one.” Isabella told her.

“Can we try again?” Kate asked.

“Sure.” Isabella liked doing sword training. It broke up the monotony of just doing hand to hand combat. It was also something that Isabella enjoyed immensely. Many times she had wanted to make her own Kate a sword but her mate had vetoed it every time Isabella had brought it up. Isabella understood why she told her no but it would be nice to have someone she could actually fight against. Tanya had also vetoed her making a practice sword that would only be used for sparing became she didn't think her Kate could be trusted to not take it without permission. Isabella didn’t have a defense to that because Tanya was more than likely right and Kate would probably take the sword the first opportunity she got. Maybe she would make one for this Kate. It seemed that she knew how to respect the weapon and wouldn’t hurt anyone with it. She would have to talk to Tanya about it later because it would most definitely be up to her as Kate was a part of her coven. Isabella decided to worry about that later though now she wanted to have some fun before the newborn army came. Looking at the faces of the spectators she had a feeling that her down time wouldn’t be happening anytime soon with how interested they all seemed in the sword.
