The World's Last Hope 12

Before they had left the Cullens Rosalie had asked for Bella’s permission to move her things into Charlie’s house so she could officially cut ties with her coven. Bella had easily agreed so Charlie asked the wolves to borrow a truck and help to move Rosalie’s things from the house. Although Rosalie would have preferred the wolves to not touch her things she graciously accepted their help. It made things go a lot faster and also prevented the Cullens from interfering. After they had the truck loaded Bella had decided to have the meeting with the wolves. After that she had sent Charlie to take Beatrice and Angela to pack whatever they were taking to Alaska while she, Rosalie and the wolves unloaded Rosalie’s things. Rosalie wanted to go with her mate but they all decided it would be easier for Angela to get permission to be away for an unknown amount of time if it was her grandmother taking her on a trip not her girlfriend.
“They are young and have been isolated. I would be leading them to their deaths if I involved them in this war.” Bella said.
“True but wouldn’t it be beneficial for them to get some kind of training?” Rosalie would never have asked Bella this in-front of others but since they were alone she felt that it was ok to be informal with the dragon.
“It would which is why once we have gathered all of our allies I am going to ask some of them to visit the wolves and stay with them. That way the tribe can learn of the ways of the were creatures.” Bella told her. “I have a feeling that there are many others like the wolves that have been as isolated as they are. I just hope that we can eventually find them so they can have a chance to live freely amongst humans and vampires.”
“I honestly didn’t even know there were any other than the wolves. Irina has studied them for many years and has a great passion for your kind. I wouldn’t be surprised if she asked you for a ride on your dragon.”Rosalie warned.
“I had noticed her many looks after I changed into my second form.” Bella had noticed Irina staring at her and assumed it was because she was trying to wrap her mind around a dragon actually existing.
“She is harmless I promise. I’m pretty sure that the other two queens have already had a talk with her about boundaries.” Rosalie said.
“I think she may feel more inclined to ask now that she has discovered that Kate is my imprint and I am her mate.” Bella knew that Kate would have told both of her sisters about the bond.
“Wait you are bonded to Kate?” Rosalie asked.
Bella nodded. “Yes I discovered it when I first laid eyes on her. Unfortunately we had other issues to deal with so I didn’t get a chance to talk to her right away. When we went for our walk we discussed it and decided to wait until the war is over to give the proper time to solidify the bond. Until then we are going to try and spend some of our down time together but I’m not sure how much of that we will have.”
“That’s kind of sad.” When Rosalie had realized that Angela was her mate she immediately began pursuing the human. It had only taken a few days before they were officially dating. She couldn’t imagine having to wait to be with the one fate chose for you. It just proved how great of a leader Bella was. The fact that she would sacrifice her own happiness to ensure that her people were prepared and ready for the war was something Rosalie didn’t think she would be able to do.
“That’s the life of a monarch. I don’t have the luxury of being selfish. My needs will always come second to the needs of my people.” Bella told her.
Before they could continue Rosalie’s phone rang. She answered it when she saw that it was Kate. “Hello.”
“Rosalie we are wondering if there is anything that we could get for Bella. We know she has only been awake for a few days and didn’t know if there was anything she didn’t have yet.” Kate asked.
“I’m not sure.” Looking to Bella Rosalie asked. “Are there things you need that you haven’t gotten yet?”
Bella thought about what she would need. “Well I would like some more clothing as I only have a few outfits that you bought me. I’m not sure what other modern conveniences I would require as I still don’t have an understanding of what is essential in this time period.”
“We can handle all of that easily.” Kate said having heard Bella. “Also we would like to know if you would be bringing your people to Alaska as well and if so we would like to offer to build some lodging for them.”
“Do you think that the area would be appropriate for were creatures?” Bella asked Rosalie.
“They are in a remote place and own hundreds of acres of land and the wildlife is plentiful for hunting. I think it would be perfect for your people.” Rosalie liked that Bella was asking her opinion on things. Even when they were with the wolves Rosalie expected that Bella would be the only one talking but numerous times Bella had asked for Rosalie’s input on not only answering questions but on how she thought on policy. It was nice to know Bella actually took her seriously.
“Then we kindly will accept the offer.” Bella figured having the vampires do this for her people was a nice way of them showing they were dedicated to the alliance. She appreciated the diplomatic gesture of good will.
“Then we will begin building immediately. Do you have a number of people coming?” Kate asked.
“For now expect at least 4 to 5 hundred. Not all will need lodging. More will come later but so far those are the ones Charles has confirmed will be coming.” Bella figured that once word got out she was back that more of her people would make their way to Alaska.
“4 to 5 hundred!” Kate’s voice squeaked out.
“Yes that won’t be a problem will it?” Bella wasn’t sure why Kate was so surprised. That wasn’t even a tenth of the number of were creatures that lived during her reign.
“No that should be fine. We will just have to reevaluate how much food we get.” Kate assured them.
“Good, I thank you for offering your stronghold to my people and hope that we can strengthen our alliance through this gesture.” Bella said.
“I will let the others know what is going on and will see you all soon.” With that Kate hung up.
“Are you really expecting that many of your kind?” Rosalie couldn’t imagine that many were creatures even existing let alone seeing them all in one place.
Bella nodded. “From what I have learned from Charles after the Romanians won the war they put a price on the head of most were creatures who fought against them. The current were ruler calls himself a king. He is a lycan that I know of from the war. His name is Lucius Godfrey. When the queens took over my subjects didn’t feel confidant that they would be more merciful to them so they stayed hidden. Most knew of the prophecy so they were just waiting for me to be released to make themselves known.”
“Your people have a lot of trust in you if they are willing to reveal themselves after hiding for so long.” After learning more about the Romanians Rosalie could understand why the were creatures hid themselves. If she had experienced what they had she wouldn’t trust vampires either.
“They didn’t trust me when I first became queen.”Bella said.
“I thought the reason you became queen was because of how respected you were.” That’s what Beatrice had told Rosalie and Angela.
“Amongst the dragons I was respected. Dragons weren’t known to have magic but they held those who did in high regard. When my magic made itself known I was treated like royalty. I was sent to a mage academy at a young age were I studied for centuries. After the strength of my magic continued to grow I was appointed royal mage. I never was meant to be the queen.” Bella told her.
“How did you become one then?” Rosalie had figured the royals had stepped aside right away. Hearing that Bella actually worked for the royals wasn’t something she would have thought.
“A respected seer had a vision. In that vision it was said that I would unite the races under my leadership and bring peace to the lands. After learning of this the royals stepped down and handed the crown to me.” Bella explained.
“So because someone had a vision an entire kingdom was given to you?” Rosalie tried to think about what would happen if Alice had a vision like that. She doubted that anyone would take her seriously at all. As it was her visions were subjective and could be changed by personal choices.
Bella nodded. “I know vampires have gifts but compared to those with magic they are simply toddlers. Whereas a vampire’s gift is limited a mage has room to grow and learn new ways to use their magic. What I did to the mind reader was something that when I first started learning my craft that would have been impossible for me to ever imagine myself doing. So a seer doesn’t usually start out accurate they study and learn to become better.”
“So you could become more powerful in magic than you already are?” Rosalie asked.
“Yes. When I met Angela’s ancestor I was arrogant and thought no mere witch could know more than I did after so many millennia of practicing but I was humbled by the many things she was able to teach me.” Bella told her.
“Angela’s ancestor was that powerful.” Rosalie wondered what that would mean for her mate. “Does that mean Angela could become a powerful witch as well?”
“Of course. Everyone from Angela’s line had great potential with magic. I think the only reason Angela’s mother has never shown any talent is because the woman doesn’t believe in it. Angela already has some raw talent based on the things she told me she had been able to do. I have no doubt if she took the time and effort to study she would be as talented as her ancestor.” Bella knew that Melinda would be more than pleased if someone of her line was as powerful of a witch as she was.
“Is there any way for you to help her?” Rosalie knew Bella was busy but if she could teach Angela even the basics it would help Angela to be able to protect herself better.
“I had planned to help her if I had some free time. We won’t be able to go to my keep until we decide on where to settle so she won’t have a chance to study Melinda’s books.” Bella would have liked to go to her keep but she needed to see what this stronghold in Alaska was like first.
“Thank you Bella.” Rosalie said.
Before Bella could reply Charlie pulled up with Beatrice and Angela in the car. Rosalie walked over to help Angela with her suitcase. “How did go with your mother?”
“She didn’t seem to care at all that I was leaving and couldn’t tell her when I would be back.” Angela told her.
“At least you got permission.” Rosalie knew Angela’s mother wasn’t the best and felt angry that she didn’t put in the effort to be an actual mother.
“Your majesty we are ready when you are.” Although he wasn’t showing it to the others Charlie was beyond excited to get to Alaska so he could see his friends again. From the ones he reached out to all of the queen’s guard had been more than eager to join up with them. He still had many others to contact but from the ones he had and the word of mouth he knew that a lot of familiar faces were going to be showing up.
“Let us get going then.” Bella walked towards the clearing that Charlie had shown her to change into her dragon.
“Stand back.” Charlie told Beatrice, Rosalie and Angela.
Beatrice watched in awe as a seemingly human Bella transformed into a large dragon the size of three school buses in length, silver with purple accents covered in scaring. The dragon was the exact same one as the one in the painting in her study. She quickly swiped the tears that fell from her eyes at the sadness she felt for her grandmother and mother for not having the opportunity to witness such magnificence. “She’s gorgeous.”
“Yes, her majesty was always the most striking of her kind.Let’s climb on and get the bags secure so we can get going.” Charlie helped Beatrice and Angela on to the dragons back where they sat securely between Bella’s spikes. He put Angela in front, Rosalie behind her so she could hold her and Beatrice behind her so Charlie could secure her as well. The baggage he tied to some of Bella’s spikes. “Your majesty we are ready.”
“Let’s leave then.” Bell said as she took flight. She wasn’t worried about the humans seeing her as she could easily cloak herself from others. Making sure that her passengers were comfortable and secure Bella flew higher in the sky and increased her speed. The sooner they got to Alaska the sooner they could start preparing for this war.
