Mother Nature 5

“Honey we’re home!” Kate yelled as soon as she walked into the Cullens’ home. They had made the trip to Fork’s in the least amount of time they could, only stopping for gas and to steal blood. Kate had had a great time breaking and entering at the different places. It almost offered her enough of a distraction that she forget about the scary woman they were dealing with. As soon as she would think about the woman again she would abandon whatever she was doing and attach herself to one of her coven members. Kate knew they were annoyed with her but she didn’t care. There was no way she was going to let herself be alone so that woman could catch her off guard again.

“Woohoo.”Emmett cheered.”Now the party can start.”

“There will be no parties until we all have a meeting and discuss how we are going to handle a few things.” Tanya tried to shrug Kate off her arm but was having no luck getting her sister to leave her alone. She had hoped that once they got to the Cullens’ Kate would find someone else to attach herself to but it wasn’t looking like that was going to happen.

“All of us are here except for Edward who is at his girlfriend’s house and Alice and Rosalie who left in a hurry. We think they went to go search for that woman in the forest.” Edith told them.

“They are actually trying to find her?” Kate didn’t understand why anyone would voluntarily search the woman out.

“She is Rosalie’s mate.” Irina reminded Kate.

Kate shivered at the thought of being mated to the stranger. “I would rather be mated to Edward than that woman.”

“Man you really don’t like the forest woman do you?” Emmett asked.

“She’s terrified of her. She hasn’t been more than three feet away from one of us since she met her.” Carmen told them. She felt grateful that Kate preferred to stay close to Tanya and not her because the few times Kate had attached herself to her,Carmen wasn’t comfortable with it. She loved Kate but a clingy Kate was not something anyone wanted to deal with.

“Kate is scared of a single woman?” Emmett laughed at the idea.

“Hey you would understand if you met her.” Kate said defensively. The only other person who would have been able to understand why she was so afraid was Alice but it seemed that the woman actually liked the seer. Kate was still upset she didn’t get to hold a baby fox.

“Hi guys.” Alice said as she came through the door.

“Alice tell them how scary that woman was.” Kate pleaded.

“Well she was nice at first but when her eyes changed from brown to the sky blue with the fire in them she became terrifying.” Alice told them.

“See, Alice thinks she is scary too.” Kate voice was triumphant.

“I wouldn’t say she was scary.” Alice disagreed. “ I think she was just trying to make me understand how dangerous she would become if we crossed her.”

“Whether she is scary or not doesn’t matter. What matters is how we deal with her. Now everyone into the living room, we are going to have a meeting.” Tanya knew she had to take control or the group of them would just be standing in the front hallway arguing about how scary the woman in the forest was instead of how they were going to move forward.

“Tanya and family how wonderful of you to come visit.” Carlisle greeted them as he came down the stairs followed by Esme. They had their bedroom door open so they could monitor what was going on in the house. Carlisle hadn’t felt brave enough to leave their room until Tanya came for fear of what Rosalie would do to him when she saw him again.

“Hello Carlisle. I was just telling your family we need to have a meeting.” Tanya had to remind herself that she was a coven leader and couldn’t give into her need to tear Carlisle limb from limb for the way he had been acting and the things he said on the phone to them.

“Right, then let’s get everyone settled and we can begin.” Carlisle made his way into the living room taking a seat on a love seat while the rest of the group found places on the other pieces of furniture in the room.

Tanya took control of the meeting before Carlisle could knowing that he would just say something stupid and piss the group off before they got a chance to actually talk things through. “Has there been any new developments since we last spoke?”

“Yes, Rosalie and I went back to the place I met the woman and found a necklace.” Alice told them.

“You went looking for the woman?!! Are you crazy?!!” Kate couldn’t believe someone would actually want to see the woman on purpose.

“I wanted to see if we could figure out a way to get in touch with her. We didn’t find any way to contact or find her but we did find this.” Rosalie took the necklace off reluctantly and handed it to Tanya who was sitting next to her. As soon as it was off of her the warmth that she had felt since she put it on disappeared instantly.

Tanya took the necklace and examined the flower incased in glass. It gave off a kind of warmth that Tanya could feel seeping in to her skin making her hand feel what she remembered it felt like when she was human. “Amazing. It feels so warm.”

“When I put it on my whole body felt like it was warm. Alice said that my skin felt like it could pass for human with how much my temperature rose.” Rosalie reached for the necklace and once Tanya gave it back to her put it back on. She may trust Tanya with it but she wasn’t going to allow anyone else to touch it.

“Do you think that it has magical properties?” Carmen asked.

“I’m not sure. It could contain some kind of substance that makes it work.” Rosalie said.

“I think we should test it to see. If it is a substance then we could be able to replicate it.” Carlisle was already thinking of how many vampires could benefit from their temperature being able to pass for human.

“You are not touching it.” Rosalie growled.

Carlisle held up his hands.” I was just thinking of how it could help others if we could figure out how it was made.”

“I don’t care. I don’t want you touching it.” Rosalie wasn’t going to let Carlisle mess with something that didn’t even belong to any of them. It was disrespectful to her mate to try to use her belongings for science experiments.

“Of course. My apologies.” Carlisle would let it go for now but would try to get his hands on it later. Since Rosalie trusted Tanya so much maybe he could convince the other coven leader to get it away from Rosalie and give it to him.

“So besides the necklace has anything else happened.”Tanya wanted to get away from the topic of the necklace. Although it was an interesting find she didn’t want anyone pushing Rosalie to part with it. Tanya had a feeling that Rosalie would kill anyone who tried to get their hands on it and the last thing they needed was another fight.

“Nothing else has happened.” Alice said.

“Any news on what Edward is up to?” Irina asked.

“He is still with his girlfriend and hasn’t made any decisions to act against Rosalie’s mate.” Alice had been keeping a close eye on him just to make sure he didn’t do anything stupid before the Denali arrived. She was hoping now that the other coven was there that they would be able to help stop whatever Edward was planning.

“Good.” Tanya was happy they weren’t walking in to an active war zone. The woman had promised Alice that she wouldn’t punish them for Edward’s actions but Tanya worried she would change her mind if Edward did something that incriminated them all.

“If he does what are we going to do? Should we try and stop him?” Emmett liked the idea of beating on Edward. He never got the chance to really hurt the mind reader and would really enjoy ripping some limbs off.

“That’s one of the things we wanted to talk about. How does everyone want to deal with Edward?” Tanya personally just wanted to kill him but even she could see that was a little extreme.

“I say we ignore him and let the forest woman deal with him.” Kate figured that was the best way to go. Then they wouldn’t give the woman a reason to come after them.

“I agree with Kate.” Jasper wouldn’t mind watching as the woman dealt with him though.

“Me too.” Irina said.

“Yeah let’s just wash our hands of him and let him dig his own grave.” Edith didn’t want to get caught in the cross fire in case the woman mistakenly thought they were somehow on Edward’s side.

“Now wait a minute. We can’t just turn our backs on Edward.” Carlisle couldn’t believe that everyone was willing to go against a member of the family.

Tanya knew that Carlisle would stand by his favorite son so his objection was not surprising. “What would you have us do then Carlisle? Should we all disobey this woman because your son is so full of himself that he believes he could defeat an unknown threat?”

“My son isn’t full himself. He is a very talented fighter. Why with his gift alone he would be able to win a fight with this woman.” Carlisle bragged.

“So I guess we know your decision on how to deal with the woman.” Irina said.

“I am not going to change my core beliefs on taking human life because of a single woman. We have no proof that she is actually any kind of threat to us. I think Edward is right. Even if he could take care of her himself it would be wise for us to come together and challenge her.” Carlisle didn’t think the stranger could actually harm them.

“You will not touch her.” Rosalie growled as she moved to advance on Carlisle. It took both Tanya and Kate to get control of the angry vampire and as she helped push Rosalie back down into her seat Tanya wondered if they should just let Rosalie kill him and Edward both.

“Carlisle we are not going to fight Rosalie’s mate.” Tanya told him.

“Rosalie wouldn’t accept having a woman as a mate. It’s unnatural.” Carlisle knew that Rosalie wouldn’t want to be mated to a woman.

“Now you’ve done it.” Irina said as she jumped up from her seat to restrain Tanya. “Emmett a little help.”

“Fuck.” Emmett said as he tried to get control of the coven leader. He let out a relieved breath when Tanya seemed to get control of herself and sat down on her own.

“Sorry about that Emmett.” Tanya was embarrassed by her actions but Carlisle had been pushing her buttons since he had originally called her. Tanya turned to Rosalie and took her hand. “You and I will have a talk about all this later. As always I’m in your corner.”

“Thanks Tanya.” Rosalie felt better knowing that Tanya supported her. She had always felt close to the blond vampire and was happy with the confirmation that Tanya would be there for her. She told herself to discuss maybe joining the Denali coven with Tanya when they had their talk. It was obvious Carlisle didn’t have her best interest at heart anymore.

“Ok everyone calm down.” Irina decided she would be the best person to take control of the meeting as it seemed Tanya wasn’t in the right mind to be objective at the moment. “Now besides Edward who thinks we should ignore the woman’s warning and continue to drink animal blood?”

“We are going back to human blood.” Alice said motioning to Jasper as well.

“We are also going back to human blood.” Edith said, Emmett nodding his head in agreement.

“It’s obvious that Rosalie is going back to human blood and I speak for the entire Denali coven when I say we are also going back to human blood. That leaves Carlisle and Esme.” Irina looked at the couple. Esme was just looking at her mate not saying anything.

“I am disappointed in all of you for giving up on the more humane option of feeding. I think you should all reconsider. Myself and Esme however will be staying with our diet.” Carlisle said not surprising anyone.

Kate threw her hands up in exasperation. “You’re going to get us all killed.”

“How are we going to separate ourselves from those three idiots so the woman doesn’t come for us as well?” Irina asked Tanya.

“I think the only way we can actually be sure we are safe is to talk to the woman again. Alice, she was nice to you, do you think you could somehow get her to come back to talk to you?” Tanya knew the only way everyone was staying alive was if they made it clear to the woman that they wanted no part of whatever Carlisle and Edward were going to do.

“Well she did say she had soft spot for me and when I asked her if we did as she said would she come back to visit her reply was for you Marie Alice I would. So maybe she would come back.” Alice wasn’t sure if the woman would be able to know if Alice was looking for her or not.

“It’s worth a try.” Tanya immediately started planning. “Here’s what we will do. Everyone split up into pairs. We will then go back into the woods and see if we can either find her or if we are lucky she will find us.”

“No way.I’m not going out there.” Kate quickly shot that idea down.

“If you don’t want to go out there then you can stay here with Carlisle and Esme.”Tanya knew Kate wouldn’t want to stay with the pair.

Kate hated that idea even more. “OK but I’m staying with you.”

“That’s fine.Everyone spilt up with their mates while I’ll go with Kate and Irina goes with Rosalie. If anyone finds anything let the rest of us know.” Tanya said as she and the others moved to the door. She wasn’t sure if they would actually find anything but Tanya hoped that they would get lucky and the woman would reveal herself. At this point it was a matter of life and death because Tanya like everyone else knew that even with them getting a pass for Edward’s actions they wouldn’t get one for Carlisle and Esme’s.
