“So what do you need me to do Bella?” Emmett asked excitedly. Bella had asked him to come with her to the bunker after she had finished her breakfast but didn’t tell him for what exactly. Even though he didn’t know what she needed him for he knew it was going to be something exciting. He was a little sad that he was missing out on going through the furniture storage with Alice but figured if Bella wanted him in the bunker then it would be for something cooler than going through a bunch of old furniture.

“After going through the information that I have found so far Rosalie and myself were talking and a good point was made. We know that the people who are kidnapping the shifters are doing experiments to find out exactly how shifting works.” Bella stopped talking to go through the motions of opening the bunker.

Emmett watched in awe as the rocks seemed to magically move out of the way. He had come out this way to get back to the White House but hadn’t gotten the chance to see how to get in. After the final door swung open he followed Bella inside. “That’s so rad.”

“Anyway. As I was saying.” Bella continued. “This morning after we woke up we were discussing some of the information that I found and talked about the fact that it was a shame that shifters couldn’t protect themselves as well as Rosalie and I could against the vampires.”

“Did you figure out a way to help them?” Emmett asked.

“No but I think if there is a way we may find the answer in here.” Bella unlocked a secure door and motioned for Emmett to go inside.

“What is this place?” Emmett looked around and saw what he figured were thousands of books.

“This is where we keep all the private journals and books written by my shifter ancestors.”Bella explained.

“I thought you didn’t want anyone to have access to this.” Emmett was confused. Bella had been very clear on the fact that no one was getting access to her family’s shifter history.

“That is true but you aren’t just anyone Emmett.” Bella told him.

Emmett was touched Bella trusted him to even know where the room was. It showed the level of respect she had for him. “So what are we going to do with all these books? Are we going to read them to figure out how to help the shifters?”

“Finding the answer is where you come in.” Bella said. “I don’t trust anyone other than myself, Rosalie and now you to be this close to these books. What I was hoping you would do is scan each book, so we can have them in a searchable data base that would be easier to sort through.” Bella explained.

“You’re going to let me look at each one of these?” Emmett asked.

“I don’t want you to read all of them as that would take to much time but I trust you enough that anything you happen to read will stay with you. I know you would never willingly betray me so giving you this task is easy. That is if you want to do it?” Bella wasn’t going to force Emmett to actually sit down and scan all the books.

“Of course I’ll do it.” Emmett wasn’t going to miss out on the chance to read through not only Shurlong family journals but Shurlong shifters journals. It was to good to pass up. He had been right in thinking this was something way cooler than looking through old furniture.

“Great then let’s get you set up and I’ll get back to going through the stuff from the lab.” Bella led Emmett into the security office.

Emmett looked at all the monitors in the room. There were more cameras in the White House than he originally thought. “Are these the only cameras you have?”

“No there are others.” Bella handed Emmett one of the many tablets sitting on a charging port after putting in her password. “With one of these you can not only access any camera feed but you can control access to different rooms and it has a list of not only all the rooms in the White House but an inventory of all the storage places and most of the vaults minus the one in the basement.”

“That’s so cool.” Emmett pulled up the camera in the arcade and watched the numerous kids playing the different games. “Now I know why Rosalie has one of these with her all the time. I thought it was just to help her organize things.”

“Well it does that too.”Bella said as she sat in the chair at the desk in front of the monitors. “The best place to scan the books is in here as this computer is linked to a secure server so no one would be able to hack it.”

“Would you have to be in here to access the books?” Emmett asked.

Bella shook her head. “No I can access anything from here. If someone was actually able to hack it it would just appear as random code they wouldn’t understand.”

“How do you know that you can trust the person who set it up?” Emmett figured if someone else was the one who worked on the servers then that person could easily hack the computer.

“My grandfather set this up. He became fascinated with computers after he visited NASA and saw one of the first versions of one. He never formally studied them in college but spent a lot of time and money learning to work with them on his own.” Bella told him.

“So your grandfather was allowed to visit NASA where they showed him one of the first computers?” Emmett couldn’t believe it. He had learned about computers because he wanted to be able to play games on them.

“Of course. If you wanted to visit NASA I’m sure I can get someone to give us a tour.”Bella offered. “I would say we could go to a shuttle launch but those are done during the day and you wouldn’t be able to go out in the sun.”

“That would be totally rad.Do you think they would let us see where they actually control the launches?” Emmett was already making a list of all the things he wanted to see at NASA.

“I wouldn’t see why not. After this is all done with I will have my assistant look into getting us a private night tour.” Bella said.

“Thanks Bella.” Emmett couldn’t wait to tell Alice about this. She was going to be so excited to be able to see where space travel took place. The whole family had watched the first shuttle launch and all of them had been fascinated with the idea of traveling to space.

“No problem. First things first though. We need to get to work on these journals.” Bella told him.

“Yeah I’m excited to get started.” Emmett said.

“Then I’ll leave you to it. If you read anything that seems like it would be good to know let me know.” Bella said as she made her way out of the room. There was still not only numerous computer files to go through but boxes of paper work. She wished Rosalie was able to help her but her imprint was needed elsewhere. As if Bella’s thoughts summoned her the comms speaker buzzed indicating someone was calling the bunker. Making her way back to the security room Bella answered. “Hello.”

“Hello my love. How are things going there?” Rosalie’s voice asked coming over the line.

“I just got Emmett started and was about to continue going through things.”Bella told her. “What can I do for you?”

“I don’t want to take up much of your time but I got a call from your father.”Rosalie said.

“Is he alright?” Bella asked.

“Yes he’s fine.” Rosalie confirmed. “However he was concerned with the fact that apparently the mayor Mr.Dickson is using a clip from your talk and a quote from you in part of his campaign press.”

Bella sighed. “We expected that to happen.”

“Well now that it has what do you want to do about it?” Rosalie asked.

“I wish we didn’t have to deal with the stupid man at all but since we do how about you get in touch with Tala and have her deal with it.” Bella figured that her assistant could deal with the petty human drama.

“I had the same idea.” Rosalie said.

“If you don’t like how she plans on taking care of it then you have my complete permission to do whatever you feel is right.” Bella knew after how the man had acted that Rosalie would have no problem taking care of him.

“I will.” Rosalie said. “Well that’s all I had to tell you. I’ll let you get back to what you were doing.”

“I love you and miss you terribly.” Bella told her.

“I love and miss you too.” Rosalie responded.

“Bye.” Bella disconnected the call and made her way back to the room she set up to go over the evidence. She hated the fact that she had to deal with humans being so stupid. It was rather disgusting for a grown man to use a teenager’s words and image for his own gain. She had no doubt that by the time Rosalie was done with him the mayor would probably think twice before he even put on his tie in the morning. Bella’s beloved didn’t take to kindly to those who wanted to take advantage of Bella and would have no problem making sure they never thought about trying again in the future. That was one of the things she loved most about Rosalie, her fierceness in protecting the ones she loved.
