Every Time It You 24

“That was Billy on phone. The wolves have caught the scent of a vampire on their lands. They believe the scent is fresh.” Carlisle told the group hanging out in the front yard of the Cullens’ home. It was the unofficial hang out for the group as they all didn’t fit in the house together comfortably.

“Excellent. Rosalie, Kate, Emmett let’s go hunting.” Isabella said enthusiastically. She had been somewhat bored hanging around waiting for something to happen. They had been training the last two days and decided to take the day off for the wolves to rest and the vampires to spend time with their mates. Most of the vampires were just spending time talking and practicing moves while Rosalie and Alice were helping Isabella shop online for different gifts for her coven and the queens. They had promised that they could get it shipped quickly to the post office box they rented so that Isabella would be able to get the items before she went home.

“Let me get my gloves!!” Emmett took off into the house to do just that.

“Should I bring my daggers?” Rosalie asked Isabella. She was somewhat excited to get a chance to use some of the moves Isabella had taught her.

“No need. We are going in stealthy.” Isabella turned her attention to the group. “I need Maggie and Jasper to come as well.”

“What about us?” Irina wasn’t sure about her mate going after an unknown threat alone.

“My apologies you as well Irina. I’m going to teach Jasper and Maggie how to use their gifts to interrogate someone so they give up the information willingly,”Isabella started moving to the woods.

“Don’t you need to know where they found the scent?” Carlisle asked. He didn’t understand why Isabella didn’t want all of them to go and capture the vampire but trusted she knew what she was doing.

“If someone is out there we’ll find them.” Isabella called over her shoulder as she, Rosalie, Emmett, Irina, Kate, Maggie and Jasper made their way into the woods. She stopped them a few miles into their walk. “Ok now that it’s only us here I have us shielded from everything so we can’t be seen, heard, even our scent is eliminated.”

“How are we going to find this guy? None of us are trackers.”Kate was almost vibrating with excitement at finally being able to do something.

“You don’t need to have a gift to be a tracker. Just follow my lead and I’ll teach you as we go along.” Isabella started running in a jog pointing out different things the group should focus on to find their prey. As she realized they were close she held up her hand to stop everyone. She listened for a minute until she heard a rustling coming from ahead of them.

“Holy shit.” Emmett said as a male vampire with sandy blond hair came walking towards them. He had been paying attention to Isabella’s teachings but didn’t think they would get so close to the guy they were tracking without actually having a gift.

“Shush.” Rosalie was just as surprised as Emmett that they had found the guy so quickly. She had paid careful attention to what Isabella had told them about tracking but was going to ask some more questions when they got a chance later. Rosalie had a feeling Isabella could have already captured the vampire and wanted to practice to see if she could get as skilled as Isabella.

“Emmett I want you and Kate to grab him. Kate don’t shock him just hold him.” Isabella said.

“Got it.” Emmett with Kate on the other side of him grabbed the startled vampire and held him tight.

“Good now Jasper. I want you to manipulate his emotions so all his is feeling is overwhelming happiness.” Jasper focused his gift and as it began to affect the vampire the man became more compliant. “ Ok now for Maggie. I need you to be visible so that you can use your gift.”

“What should I do?” Maggie was happy that Isabella had included her and didn’t want to mess up. Learning how to get information from someone without having to use force was a very handy skill. One that would be very valuable for her coven.

“As Irina won’t be able to be away from you I want you both to stand close enough to him and make him believe the we are all old friends and he is here to invite us to join Victoria.” Isabella had faith Maggie could do it. She had seen other Maggies convince people of far more complicated things.

“I’ll try.” Maggie felt Irina walk a step behind her as she approach the smiling vampire being held in Kate and Emmett’s grasp. “Hey you’re finally here.”

The vampire looked at her in confusion. “Do I know you?”

“Of course you do. We are old friends.” Maggie almost sighed in relief when the man suddenly had a look of recognition in his eye. “You were going to invite us to join you in helping Victoria remember?”

“Oh yeah.” The vampire nodded his head in agreement. “I’m glad I found you so easily. There are some shifters in these woods so you have to be careful.”

“That’s good to know thank you for the warning.” Maggie was a little lost at what to do next.

Noticing this Isabella revealed herself, Rosalie and Jasper. “Hey I’m Becca, Maggie’s friend I didn’t catch your name.”

“I’m Riley. It’s nice to meet you Becca.” Riley seemed to be totally relaxed and completely believing the narrative they were spinning.

“So I hear that Victoria is after the same animal drinking vampires we are after?” Isabella ignored the looks of confusion she was getting from the others.

“You guys are after them too?” Riley asked.

“We want nothing more than those bastards dead!!” Isabella said. “We were wondering if we could join up with you and Victoria?”

“That would be great. Right now we have about 35 newborns and 4 vampires that are over a year old like me. Well besides Victoria of course but we have been trying to find others to join our cause.” Riley told them.

Isabella let out a whistle of appreciation. “35 newborns, that’s lot to have to control.”

“It’s easy because we got a few of them with gifts. One can make it so you lose time.” Riley said proudly.

“Really, what is it like?” Isabella asked.

“It’s like you are hanging out with your friends and then all of a sudden you blink and it’s been 5 hours.” Riley explained.

Isabella tried to think about how that gift would actually work. “That’s a useful gift. Do they have to be touching you for it to work?”

“No, it’s all mental. The girl’s eyes turn black and she just focuses on who she wants to black out.”Riley said.

“I think we want to join but we need to know what the plan is for how you are going to eliminate the animal drinkers.” Isabella hoped that Riley knew enough to be useful so they could plan how to defeat Victoria’s army.

Riley smiled brightly. “That’s great. Victoria is going to be so happy.”

“I’m glad but what is her plan so we know how to get ready.” Isabella asked.

“Well I was sent here to find out what kind of numbers they have on their side and report back.” Riley said.

“What did you report back?” Isabella needed to know what kind of information the others had.

“I told them about all the vampires I saw training with the wolves.”This peaked Isabella’s interest.

“How were you able to stay hidden so that no one detected you there?” Isabella asked.

“I have a gift that let’s me blend in to my surroundings.” Riley told them.

“Where is she keeping all these newborns?” Isabella asked.

“I don’t know. Victoria said it wasn’t safe for me to know everything incase I was caught.” Riley told them.

“I see so what else did you tell Victoria?” Isabella knew they wouldn’t have to much time to deal with Riley so she needed to know what he could tell her.

“Just the number of vampires and about the wolves. She is waiting to do anything until some of the vampires leave to attack.”Riley said.

Isabella turned to Rosalie. “That is all he knows so now I need you to use your gift on him.”

“What do you need me to make him do?” Rosalie was all to happy to be able to actually use her gift for something important.

“I need you to make him think that he saw everyone leave expect for the Cullens, Tanya, Carmen and Eleazar. He already knows about the wolves so it’s fine that he remembers them. Make him think he overheard the others talking about leaving to deal with a threat from the Volturi.” Isabella figured Victoria would move up her time line if she thought most of thier numbers left.

“Got it.” Rosalie walked up to Riley and locked eyes with him waiting until his eyes glazed over to give the command. “You are going to tell anyone who asks you that the vampires you have been watching have been called away to deal with a threat from the Volturi. The only ones who stayed behind were the Cullens, Tanya, Eleazar and Carmen. No matter whatever else you see you will not tell anyone anything other than what I just told you. You will also not tell anyone about talking to us in the woods. Do you understand?”

“I understand.” Riley mumbled not taking his eyes off of Rosalie.

“Let him go.” Isabella told Emmett and Kate. Once every one was near her she shielded them again. “Let’s go back and tell the others what we found out.”

Isabella was glad they finally had an enemy to focus on. She had been wanting to get home and the sitting and waiting was starting to make her annoyed. She wished that Riley had a location for where Victoria and her newborns were hiding but Victoria had been smart enough to not tell Riley. Even without a location having the number of vampires they were fighting would be helpful. Maybe if she was lucky Victoria would attack soon and Isabella could go home. She missed her mate and her Rosalie. It had been weeks in her dimension since she saw them and she missed them terribly. If she could she would just hunt down the newborn army herself and eliminate the threat but Isabella knew that she had to let the others get a chance to use their skills if they were ever going to be able to defend themselves when she wasn’t around. Sighing she picked up her pace hoping that she would get home in no more than a couple days.
