“I know she isn’t a vampire yet but I was wondering if you would be willing to do some training with Bella?” Tanya asked Isabella while waiting for her turn to fight. The entire group of vampires staying at the Cullens’ plus all of the wolves had shown up for training. After Jasper had given them the run down on what to expect from newborn vampires he, Liam and Siobhan were observing three pairs of fighters. Tanya had been disappointed when Isabella had declined to lead the training and she could tell she wasn’t the only one. She just hoped that Isabella would be willing to work with her mate so that when Bella did turn she would be able to at least defend herself properly.

“Sure does she want to start now or should we wait?” Isabella was actually getting kind of bored just watching the fights. The wolves hadn’t joined in the training yet and were just watching what was going on.

“I want to start now.” Although she was kind of intimidated by Isabella, Bella wanted to learn how to fight and Isabella was the best person to teach her.

“Ok I usually team up with Rosalie when I fight and if they are with me Emmett and Kate. So it would be better for them to help us so you can see how I can manipulate my shield while in battle.” Isabella said.

“We’re in.” Emmett didn’t even hesitate to help out. Rosalie had told him that Isabella had promised to train her privately and he had been trying to figure out a way to get the woman to let him join in too.

“Can I use your sword?” Kate was more than willing to fight along side Isabella.Kate was a warrior and thought of Isabella as a kindred spirit in that regard.

“You’re not using her sword Kate.” Tanya shut that idea down right away. “Would it be alright if I join the four of you as well?”

“Sorry I should have included you. My Tanya doesn’t fight and when I go to other dimensions their Tanya and Bellas aways stay together while the four of us do the dangerous stuff.” Isabella said.

“So we are like each dimension’s special forces?” Emmett liked the idea of being each dimension’s defender.

“I don’t have to fight in every dimension but in the few I had to I always pair up with you three. Sometime Garrett joins but usually only if the situation calls for someone stealthy.” Isabella told them.

“I’m used for my stealth?” Garrett asked.

Isabella turned to look at him noticing that the fighting had stopped and everyone had their attention fixed on her. “You are the best scout I have ever come across so I send you to places that we need spying done or when there is the need for something stolen or sabotaged.”

“Amazing.” Garrett didn’t think of himself as someone able to do those types of things but from what he was told everything Isabella had told the others about themselves turned out to be true. “How do I go about learning how to do that stuff?”

Isabella sighed realizing that getting out of leading the training was no longer an option. “I can teach you, as I have taught other versions of you.”

“Would you be willing to run some drills with us?” Liam wasn’t offended that the others looked to Isabella for help. She was probably the best person for the job because she had worked with so many different versions of them and would be able to teach them the best techniques based on how she saw their other dimensional selves fight.

“Yes I suppose I can.” Isabella begrudgingly agreed.

“This is so awesome!!”Kate cheered.If Isabella used her, Rosalie and Emmett as her regular fighting team then Kate was positive she was about to learn some awesome new moves.

“How would you like to set this up?” Jasper was happy to turn over the training to Isabella as well. He didn’t like the attention and his expertise was limited to newborns not mature vampires.

“I want us to break up in covens as that is how you will always want to defend your own but instead of all the Denali joining together I want Irina and Garrett to stay with the Irish coven and Carmen and Eleazar stay with the Cullens. Rosalie, Emmett, Tanya and Kate will stay with me. “Isabella waited until all of them joined their assigned groups. “To start things off we should have my group stand to the side and the two other groups fight each other. I know we are going against newborns but it’s important to see where we are at before we focus on a specific threat.”

“Are you sure Garrett shouldn’t stay with us?” Kate trusted Isabella but she didn’t want to be separated from her mate.

Isabella shook her head. “Garrett’s skills won’t normally be used in the main fighting. Until he’s had time to train to use his skills it’s better for him to learn how to fight in a group. You, myself and the others in our group are usually used for offering distractions for Garrett. That’s why it’s important that we train to become more comfortable with each other.”

“I guess that makes sense.” Kate felt better knowing that it was up to her to keep the attention off her mate. If she couldn’t be with him at least she could always go save him if something happened.

“Ok some ground rules. No biting or ripping off limbs.” Isabella didn’t want to deal with mates getting angry with the person who did that to their mates. It would just escalate into a real brawl as the other members of their covens got involved. “Set yourselves up in formation like you usually would and begin.”

“Shit.” Emmett mumbled awed with the sight in front of him. He didn’t think they were actually going to go all out but as he watched Siobhan slam Jasper to the ground by the neck and Alice jump on Irina’s back he realized that no-one was going to leave training without injuries.

Isabella watched them for a few minutes then called them to a stop. “Ok that’s enough.”

“How did we do?” Irina asked. She didn’t think fighting would be different now that she was mated but as soon as she saw Maggie was in danger she felt like she lost all reason and wanted to kill whoever hurt her mate. Unfortunately that person was Esme and she was now sporting some cracks on her cheeks.

“You did well,however you aren’t using your natural talents properly.” Isabella had seen most of the groups relying on just their basic vampire enhancements instead of using their gifts.”For instance Jasper, you have the gift to control emotions. You told me you have been making progress with your gift so you should be relying on that more than your actual fighting ability. Instead of going in for the kill right away partner up with your mate who isn’t able to defend herself as well as the others due to her size and use your gift to make the enemy lethargic. I know you think that making them afraid would be better but we don’t want them to run we want to kill them. So if you immobilize them then Alice can quickly take their heads off. Also it would make it so if Alice ran into trouble you would be right there to help her.”

Jasper had never thought of actually using his gift to immobilize the enemy. During his fighting years it hadn’t been strong enough to be effectual in battle. What Isabella said made sense and the idea of having Alice close to him so he could help her was very appealing. “I understand. Thank you for the new perspective.”

“Yeah thanks Isabella.” Alice liked the idea of actually being able to fight and not having to hide in the back like they had originally planned.

“So how about us?” Siobhan asked.

“Your group did well however you weren’t using the actual abilities that I told you about last time I was here. Siobhan you are stronger then everyone here but you don’t use your strength and are just dodging and trying to find a way to get in and out quickly. That is a good idea for most but you can easily stop a punch from someone as big as Emmett so you don’t need to dodge. You could grab the hand swinging at you and use your grip on it to rip the owner’s arm off or even block the punch and fire one back to their head. I have seen you numerous times hit a vampire hard enough that their heads snap off. That’s how strong you can be. I think you should spend some time working with Emmett as he is a fighter that usually relies on his strength.” Isabella said.

“Would you be willing to help me Emmett?” Siobhan wasn’t sure she was as strong as Isabella believed but she had been working out and had noticed an improvement.

“Yeah totally.” Emmett was more than willing to help someone learn how to fight. Siobhan was a known warrior and he was sure he would learn some new skills from her.

“Now for Liam. I see that you jumped right into the fight without really paying attention to the others in your group. You shouldn’t do that. You are a strategist. You should be hanging back from the others and directing them on where they would be the most useful on the battlefield. I’m not saying you shouldn’t fight, I’m saying that you are more valuable to the group if you can see what’s going on.” Isabella could see that Liam didn’t really like the idea of not being at the front lines but he needed to get over it if he wanted to be the best he could be.

“How would that work if they couldn’t hear me?” Liam understood what Isabella was saying. His instincts would demand he defend his coven by being in the thick of it but if he could help them gain victory by staying behind them he would do it.

“You guys have communication technology right?”Isabella was happy when she saw them nodding. “Then purchase some stuff to use during battle. It would be wise for each group to have their own frequencies so that you aren’t confused.”

Rosalie felt like face palming herself for not thinking about that. It was such a simple thing that would help them hear over the loud sounds of battle. She once again thanked any deity listening for sending Isabella to their dimension to help them. “I will find some stuff after we finish today.”

“So as for Maggie and Irina.” Both perked up hearing Isabella saying their names. “You are a newly mated couple. There is no way that you will be able to be apart from each other. So just stay together. You both should do something similar to Jasper and Alice but customized to your gifts. What you should do is have Irina work as a body guard while Maggie uses her gift to convince the newborns that they are on the wrong side of the fight. Since it would only work on one vampire at a time you should stay in the back of the formation. Even if you only convince two or three it will give you extra vampires fighting on your side. Them being disposable to us makes it so we don’t have to protect them and it will free up others to take on more of the enemy.”

“We can do that.” Maggie was excited to try using her gift in such a way. She wasn’t the greatest fighter having Liam and Siobhan always there to protect her so being able to do something that would help the others was satisfying. She also liked that Isabella understood the new mate bond. Maggie knew there was no way for her or Irina to be apart from each other while there was danger.

“How about the rest of us?” Carlisle was interested in what Isabella would say about those left as none them had gifts that would be helpful in a fight. However like all things he predicted Isabella would prove him wrong.

“You, Carmen and Esme should be used as body guards for Eleazar.” Seeing their confused looks Isabella explained. “Eleazar has one of the most valuable gifts out of any of us in any of the groups here right now. He can spot vampires with gifts. That will make it so we can deal with them right away. Him knowing exactly what they are will also tell us who to send after them. While he is focusing his gift scanning the enemy you three need to keep him safe.”

“I never thought of using my gift in battle before.” In the Volturi Eleazar’s gift was only used at the castle. He hadn’t realized how useful it would be against others. He now felt grateful that the Volturi never came to the same conclusion Isabella did. Eleazar didn’t think they would have let him leave if they had.

“Enough about these guys are we going to go through some moves to?” Emmett was getting impatient. If Isabella could find so many things for the others to improve on then he was excited to find out what she would tell him.

“The rest of us aren’t going to be fighting anyone.” Isabella cut off both Emmett and Kate before they could complain. “It’s too dangerous. Even if we went against everyone here including the wolves.”

“You all are that powerful together?” Jasper wasn’t sure how that could be but he was more than excited to find out.

Isabella nodded.“Even without my gift we are that powerful. Especially with Emmett and Rosalie’s weapons.”

“Oh my god this is so cool.” Kate was almost vibrating with how excited she was to learn from Isabella.

“Since Bella wanted to learn some techniques with how to use her shield we should start with a few of those moves.” Isabella motioned for Emmett. “At the count of three I want you to run at me as fast as you can and put your foot in my hand so I can throw you.”

“I got this.” Emmett waited until three before he ran at full speed towards Isabella putting his foot in her hand like she said. He wasn’t expecting to go far but as he was sailing over a bunch of trees on the other side of the meadow he felt like he was flying.

“Holy shit.” Tanya couldn’t believe what she was seeing. There was no way someone as small as Isabella could throw Emmett that far. Hell she didn’t think any vampire could throw Emmett that far.

“Is he going to be ok?” Rosalie trusted Isabella but was somewhat worried for her mate.

“Yes, he should be back in a second.” Isabella assured her.

As Isabella predicted Emmett came running through the trees less than a minute later with a big smile on his face. “Did you guys see me?”

“Can I go next?” Kate asked. Now that she had confirmation that Emmett was fine she wanted to see how far Isabella could throw her.

“Nobody is going next.” Tanya wasn’t going to let them get off track during training just so Kate could play with Isabella. “How did you do that?”

“I used my shield. You see Bella with practice you can use your shield to add force to your movements.” Isabella explained. “I am at the point where I can punch through a vampire as easily as Emmett can with his gloves. That was actually how I came up with the idea to make them.”

“So you’re saying that I could be able to punch through anything once I’m a vampire?” Bella didn’t think she would ever be able to do that. Isabella had a lot more training than she would ever get.

“Yes easily. One of the things I want to train Emmett on now that he has his gloves is for me to push enemies his way so he can quickly kill them.” Isabella had used this technique with the others but with the gloves Emmett would be more efficient.

“What do you mean?” Emmett asked.

“Can I have a volunteer?” Isabella asked giving a nod of thanks when Jasper walked over to her. “Ok Emmett say that we are getting overwhelmed but I can’t stop to take care of everyone I come across. So stand over there and catch Jasper. When he’s going towards you I want you to envision all the ways you could use your gloves to kill him. Only envision it though don’t actually hurt him.”

“I got this.” Emmett stood to the side while Isabella and Jasper stood on the other. After setting up so Jasper was facing Isabella, Isabella pushed him sending flying towards Emmett. He did as he was told and thought of all the ways he could have killed Jasper as he came barreling into his chest causing them both to tumble to the ground.

“Jasper!” Alice rushed over to her husband to make sure he was alright. She sighed in relief when she didn’t see any damage.

“I’m fine Alice.” Jasper could admit it was kind of fun flying across the field like he was. As vampires they didn’t get a rush like humans going on amusement park rides but when Isabella pushed him, he felt like he was going faster than the speed of sound.

“As you could see I didn’t even use any of my body’s strength to push him that far. In a fight I don’t say in one area. My shield will always protect my body so I allow the others to focus where they are and go where I’m needed. The only thing is that even I can’t take care of every vampire. That’s why you should all train with the same groups and with the others. It will make it so you are comfortable with the roles each of you will play during the battle. Your goal is to get to the point where working with your group is instinctual. My Rosalie and I are almost always sent to deal with threats alone because we are so in-tuned with each other. However we have a powerful bond that makes us the exception so I don’t recommend taking on threats by yourselves.” Isabella didn’t want them to get too cocky and think they could take on the world.

“So how should we train?” Liam asked. He would have to thank Isabella later for all the help she had given his coven. She was only there for Tanya and Bella but had gone out of her way to make sure she left everyone with the tools to be the best they could be. He admired her patience with the people she dealt with. He didn’t know anyone who wouldn’t have snapped with all the questions and demands the others made of her.

“I think for now everyone get into your groups and discuss strengths and weaknesses. Something we should consider getting is body targets so we can run through scenarios without hurting each other.” Isabella said.

“Those are easy to get.” Rosalie already knew a few places they could pick them up at.

“Great so everyone break up into groups.” Isabella turned to the wolves. “You guys should probably spread out and watch the different groups so you can understand the mindset of a mature vampire. You are sworn protectors of your lands so it wouldn’t be good if you didn’t know how to fight all your enemies.”

Tanya smiled when most of the wolves moved so they could watch her group. It was obvious they wanted to learn from Isabella. The only thing stopping them was a sharp bark from their alpha making the pack spread out. “Where do you want Bella for this?”

“Bella can stand behind me if she feels comfortable. My shield is always activated and for some reason recognizes my other dimensional selves so if she is close to me it will protect her as well.” Isabella figured it had to do with her dimensional travel gift. Her purpose was too protect Bella and Tanya so it was only natural that it would recognize Bella and protect her as well.

“Then she should stand with you.” Tanya was now feeling a lot better about keeping Bella alive during the fight. She hadn’t expected Isabella to be able to protect her mate so easily. Now she would have to figure out how to use it when the time came to fight the newborns. Isabella was going to be one of the main fighters but having Bella near her would be the best idea to keep her away from anyone getting to her. Tanya would make sure she and Bella talked to Isabella about it later. Now she needed to focus on what she could learn from Isabella. Looking around she noticed that the others had taken Isabella’s suggestions to heart and were practicing ways to use her advice. Tanya figured it was going to be a long day but knew by the end of it the progress they made would make it all worth it.
