Every Time It's You 17

“What the hell is she doing?” Siobhan asked as she, Liam, Irina and Maggie exited their rental car. After hearing that Tanya and Bella were in danger the four of them had taken the first flight they could find to get to the Cullen’s as quickly as possible. She had been expecting to find both covens preparing for battle not standing around watching Kate fly through the air on some metal contraption. Siobhan looked to the vampires gathered watching as Kate flew higher totally unconcerned, Rosalie being the odd man out as she stood with her arms crossed glaring at Kate. Before Siobhan could comment further Maggie ran forward in excitement.

“How is Kate flying like that?” Maggie had never seen anyone fly through the air like Kate was. She didn’t know how Kate was doing it but Maggie hoped that she would get a chance to try.

“Isabella brought a hover bike with her this time. That’s what Kate is riding.” Emmett explained. Tanya had set up the rule that everyone would get turns that lasted ten minutes and he was now waiting for his second try.

“And this hover bike allows her to fly without any type of wings or engine?” Liam asked. He wasn’t sure exactly how he felt about flying through the air on something that didn’t even look like it could hold his weight but the idea was interesting. He could see how they would be helpful during battle, being able to fly over enemies without having to use planes.

“The engine actually affects the gravity around the hover bike. I don’t know how it works exactly but that’s the explanation I got from the manual.” Rosalie told him as she watched Kate. She was positive that Kate was going to crash into something and wanted to be ready to hopefully interfere and save the bike. Kate could figure out how to save herself.

Tanya pulled her attention away from Kate and greeted the newcomers. “How was the trip?”

“It was uneventful. We came as soon as we could but we didn’t expect to witness something like this when we arrived.” Siobhan said. She could see not only her mate but Maggie and Irina interested in the hover bike and feared them trying it. She didn’t want any of them to get hurt on the thing but knew in the end she wouldn’t stop them from riding it.

“None of us expected to have Isabella bring it with her.” Tanya was already annoyed with the hover bike. It had been fun to ride but the fighting over it was aggravating. Isabella refused to set rules about who could ride it and for how long claiming that none of the vampires present were in her coven and it wasn’t proper for her to make rules for them. That had left it for Tanya to step in as it was Kate that was causing the most problems. She prayed to any deity listening for the hundredth time since Isabella showed up that she would take the bike home with her so Tanya wouldn’t have to deal with it anymore.

“Hello sister.” Irina opened her arms for Tanya and pulled her into a hug after turning her attention away from the hover bike. She would have to talk to Maggie about whether the two of them thought it was safe for each of them to ride. She sighed as she glanced back at her mate. It seemed there wouldn’t be a discussion after all. Her mate definitely was going to ride it. Irina would have to ask about safety precautions before she did however.

“Hello Irina.” Tanya happily snuggled into her sister’s embrace. She hated being away from Irina and Kate but with the new mate bonds she came to the realization that it would happen a lot more then the three of them would prefer. Discussions of where everyone would live were being put on hold until Bella finished high school and decided when she wanted to be turned into a vampire. It pleased Tanya to know that her mate didn’t want to stay human and wouldn’t regret being forced to become one of them.

“What do you know of this threat you called us here for?” Irina asked as she released Tanya from her arms.

“We haven’t really figured much out. We were waiting for the four of you to brainstorm ideas.”Tanya still had no clue who would be after her or Bella but they hadn’t really discuss things yet. Now that Irina and company were here it was the perfect time to start. “Why don’t we talk about things when Kate gets finished with her turn.”

“Kate your times up.” Alice yelled. After some fighting and objections it was decided that Alice would be the official time keeper to make sure everyone keep their rides to ten minutes. Tanya had threatened anyone who went over with not being able to ride it again. It had kept everyone in line and the fighting had stopped. Well after it was decided the order in which they rode was going to be determined by picking a name out of a hat.

“I bet that wasn’t even ten minutes.” Kate grumbled as she parked the hover bike. She had no doubt the whole time and order thing was rigged as she got picked to go last. The only positive other than actually riding the hover bike was that she got to ride by herself. Tanya had refused to let her human ride without her, deeming it to unsafe for Bella to go on a solo ride. Kate thought Tanya was very lucky her human seemed to find her over protectiveness endearing because if Garrett was like that with her she would have punched him in the face.

“Ok so what exactly do we know about this threat?” Liam asked. His mind was already shifting into strategy mode.

“The problem is we don’t have many facts. All we know as of now is there is a threat to either Tanya or Bella. It could also be against both of them.” Carlisle told them.

“What have you done lately that has been out of the ordinary or has disrupted your lives?” Liam knew the answer was there they just might of overlooked it. “No matter how insignificant you think it is tell us.”

“Well other than Isabella showing up we have dealt with Edward and Laurent.” Tanya said trying to think of what else had happened. She wouldn’t put it past Edward to do something but Alice told them that he was mostly hanging out in South America moping around.

“Laurent? How do you know Laurent?” Jasper asked.

“He was claiming a false mate bond with Irina. The day Isabella came was when we found out and kicked him off our property. How do you know him?” Tanya hoped this was a chance to rip the vampire to shreds. If so much hadn’t been happening the day Isabella showed up she would have handled the situation a lot differently.

“He was a part of a coven that included a tracker that went after Bella.” Seeing the alarm on Tanya’s face Carlisle hurried to explain. “We killed him before he left the area but his coven mates got away.”

“Who was part of this coven?” Liam thought they were on the right track with this. If a coven member was killed it was highly likely the rest of the coven would want revenge. He knew if anything happened to Siobhan, Maggie or even Irina he wouldn’t stop until those who were responsible paid with their lives.

Jasper was thinking along the same lines as Liam. “There were three of them. James the tracker, Laurent and a woman named Victoria. We weren’t exactly sure but she may had been James’ mate.”

“You left his mate alive after you killed him?” Tanya was incredulous. If she had any doubt about the threat to them it was beyond obvious now. It was common knowledge that if a vampire lost their mate they would be overcome with an everlasting feeling of grief. Most killed themselves but if a mate was killed then the other wouldn’t stop until they had their revenge.

“It wasn’t that we left her alive.” Carlisle said defensively. “She left the area before we got a chance to deal with her. We didn’t know enough about her or Laurent to track them down. I’m surprised he knew about your coven though.”

“It’s well known of our eating habits amongst vampires. He could have taken a chance at us knowing you and came to us. Your scents are all over the area around our home and within it.” Tanya was trying to think of what exactly they had discussed with Laurent. Thinking back she realized he had asked about the Cullens in a round about way. At the time it seemed he was interested in meeting more animal drinkers but now it was obvious he was fishing for information.“Alice can you try and focus on Victoria. If not her then maybe Laurent.I think we may be on the right track on who this threat may be.”

Alice nodded her head. “Yeah I can try.”

“Good. I will reach out to a few contacts and see if they may have any information about Victoria and Laurent. Even if they are nomads someone must know about them.” Carlisle pulled out his cell phone and made his way into the house. He wasn’t surprised when the rest of the group went back to playing with the hover bike. He would like to get another chance to ride it. He already had plans to ask Rosalie to let him borrow the manual so he could read it over. The fact that it was powered by an anti gravity engine fascinated him. He had of course thought about one but figured that technology would not be invented until decades if not centuries into the future. Thinking of asking Isabella some technological questions Carlisle sped up hoping to get some information regarding the nomads quickly. The sooner he did the sooner he could spend time with Isabella again.
