February Dev Update
Added 2020-02-15 22:38:12 +0000 UTCHello Cloudheads, chief writer Nonesuch here. Has it really been seven months since my last post? Time has flown by since me and Noob started creating our space exploration existential terror text game, and yet it feels like we’re barely off the ground. There’s been a lot going on behind the scenes, so I thought it would be a good time to talk about that stuff and some of our future plans.
New writer
Probably the most exciting thing for me is that we’ve hired a new part-time writer, William. He is ridiculously prolific and dedicated to his work, and I’m very pleased we got him. I am hoping from this point forward we will be able to pump out a lot more words for you guys.
The first project he’s working on is a weapons and modules shop on Auspice, Hlokk and Lode. It will be staffed by Holli and Lorien, two Ilzune twins, who will not only be providing you with the equipment you’ll need to improve your ship, but the Perception and Booksmarts training a lot of you have been crying out for.
Wrecks, in this economy?? and Ifriq
- I personally am deep into producing the Wrecks Update, which will add derelict spaceships in the Cloud for you to explore. They will be risky and tough, more so than simply exploring the Cloud - but will commensurately carry greater reward. It’s going to be a large and complex update, some of the details of which we’re still thrashing out. However the ability to explore strange, creepy derelicts haunted by salacious alien predators is one of the fundamental reasons for the game’s setting, and as we add more and more content to it I hope for it to become one of the key draws of the game.
- Once that’s done and we have Hlokk and Lode we will have all of the basic elements I envisage for the game’s economy: the system by which you keep yourself and your ship afloat in the brutal Cloud 10 galaxy. We will spend some time carefully tightening everything up so things are as we want them: hard but fair, encouraging you to take risks for those big, elusive artifact rewards.
- With the creation of the ITE, the game’s first faction (I plan for plenty others), I am more or less done with Maniward as a zone. I’m aware that right now sqad drops are frustratingly limited. We hope to rectify that (and allow you to take the stuff and bask in its indescribable addictive bliss) when we start producing the next zone, Ifriq. Ruled from an ancient habitat by a fundamentalist matriarchy, it is a place where the sun never set upon the Ilzune Empire. It will be a colorful, unpredictable and deadly place, filled with lots and lots of lusty, amazonian pirates.
I am keenly aware we’ve been a little short of content lately. That’s been the unfortunate result of my holidays from C10 work coinciding with coder and benefactor Noob suffering some bad health. He’s back on his feet now though, and as said I’m hoping we can really start chunking some significant amounts of content out for you guys before my next break. And during that break not only will Will still be giving us stuff, but Moon, the artist responsible for all the cute CG art you’ve been seeing recently, will be back on the case.
That’s it for now. Thank you for all the great support.
