Naked Day Trips

It always surprises us when we're talking to people on a nude beach, how few of them have ever visited a naturist resort or campground. For a variety of reasons. Sometimes it's about misconceptions like a fear that you will be asked to be naked when you don't really want to (which is almost never the case). Or it's because they really love beaches. Quite some others just don't feel much for a whole multi-day naked vacation.

It always surprises them when we tell them that the nude beach isn't the only option to spend a day in the nude. In fact, the list of alternatives is pretty large.

Day passes

It took us quite some time to figure out that staying overnight in a private naked resort is not the only option. A lot of resorts also have a day pass system which allows you - for a certain fee, of course - to spend a whole day in the nude and to use the resort facilities. This is less common in the very commercial resorts that you find in France, for example, as they typically prefer guests that stay overnight. During the high season, they might even have a minimum number of nights that you need to stay.

Smaller resorts, naturist clubs, and resorts in countries that aren't famous for naked tourism often do allow day visits. Sometimes you may need to search a bit through the website though as they may not promote the option in their general pricing list.

Naked events

Naked events are fastly growing in popularity and it becomes more and more common that these events don't happen at a naked resort. The World Naked Bike Ride has existed for more than two decades and happens in cities around the world. Although it didn't start as an activity for those who want to spend some time without clothes, it does make a great opportunity.

If cycling naked through a city isn't your thing, there are plenty of other options. Naked yoga has also been taking off lately and several yoga studios now offer this. If you're more into the arts, you might consider becoming a nude model for the afternoon. Non-landed naturist clubs tend to offer a variety of options, such as naked swims, where the association takes over the local swimming pool.

Sometimes it's a lot bigger, we went twice to a waterpark in Belgium that for the occasion was taken over by the Belgian Naturist Federation and several days ago we were naked at a waterpark in the UK that had plenty of very, very fast slides. This was made possible through a collaboration with British Naturism. We also went naked laser shooting once in California. Other things you can regularly find include naked museum visits, naked hikes or naked bowling.

A day at the spa

If you happen to live in or near Belgium, the Netherlands, or Germany, as well as several Eastern European countries, you're in for a real treat. The sauna and wellness culture is big in those places and the dress code is typically no clothes at all. Wellness centres can be really huge, with different saunas, spas, pools, hot tubs, massages, and so on. More than enough to keep yourself busy for the day.

Wellness centres often don't like to be categorised at naked places, because they don't see nudity as a goal but rather as a tool to improve your your experience and because it's just much more hygienic than bathing suits. If you like to be pampered and want to do something in the nude, this is a great alternative for the nude beach.

American hot springs

The naked spa and wellness culture hasn't made it to the USA (yet), but they have another great place for a day trip. Well, places. We never figured out how the concept of clothing-optional hot springs became a thing, but it applies to hot springs all over the country.

We first learned about this when we visited California several years ago. The crowd we found on a sunny afternoon was a mix of naked people and swimsuits but nobody was bothered by the other. As these hot springs are typically in protected nature and because the people that go there are expecting some nudity, these can be good places for a naked hike as well.

We imagine that there must be plenty of other ways to spend a day in the nude that's not your garden or the nude beach. We are very interested more of these, so if you know of such opportunities, let us know in the comments!

Glad you enjoyed it Dan!

Many of people have recommended Orient Land Trust and Colorado in general. We really need to make it back to the USA

During our time in SoCal, which now seems forever ago, was when we first learned of non-landed clubs and their potential. Glad you keep taking this to new levels!

There are also theater outings. We have a theater that lets us do Naked Comedy shows. Not only are the comics naked, but so are the audience. We also participated in the Hollywood Fringe Festival which happens in June every year in Hollywood, CA. We put on a few plays where the actors and audience were both nude. Both of these have been very successful in getting new people to try being naked for the first time.

Well timed article if only because my wife & I are going to spend Thursday & Friday doing day passes at Star Ranch, a nudist resort east of Austin, Texas, spending the night in a nearby hotel. As for CO hot springs, I highly recommend Orient Land Trust's Valley View Hot Springs in central Colorado, where we've been going as a family for over 20 years, and where our son now takes his family.

In case you ever wondered I have been to nude beaches (in Europe when I was in the Navy). But this was years ago. My ex-wife never questioned my overall tan. If people would just let their hair down and not worry about how fashionable, or fit, their swimsuit was, they would find the experience liberating. After all, everyone is wearing the same thing. This article has some very enlightening perspectives. Enjoyed it...
