The Story behind the Picture

By now, most of you will already know our style of pictures. Sometimes they are shot from the back, other times we make sure that a certain object is always covering up certain body parts. Although we’ve learned the hard way (a couple of times) that this is not a guarantee for being allowed on Facebook or Instagram, most of the time we do get away with it. Knock on wood…

But let’s talk about the attribute in this picture. A lot of people ask us what we eat when we’re traveling all the time, and to a further extend how we stay healthy and more or less in shape.

For a lot of people, going on a vacation means letting it all go. No rules, no diets. Yes, it’s perfectly fine to have bacon and eggs every single morning. Yes, you can go for a second portion. Want a third one? Sure! Cocktails at 10 in the morning, snacks and more snacks… You know the drill.

For us it’s different because this isn’t a vacation, this is our life. We do this 365 days in a year. Of course, we also have our excesses, but in general we try to live the same life (at least food wise) as back in the day when we still had office jobs in Belgium. Normally, our breakfast is coffee and fruits. Lunch is something we often skip, or we have something small like a sandwich or a salad. And when it comes to dinner, it really depends on the place where we’re at.

Lins loves to cook and cooks very healthy. In South Africa, for example, there are plenty of supermarkets and pretty much every accommodation we stayed at had cooking facilities. So we cooked most of the time. In fact, the only times when we went to a restaurants was either when we had a really long day or when we wanted to include food in one of our videos.

Asia is a different story, because the street food is relatively healthy and very cheap. So when we’re in Asia, we most often eat out. But we try to balance, and most of all to eat local food. For example, when we’re at the coast, we’ll eat seafood pretty much every day. More inland, we’ll have more meat or just eat vegetarian.

But back to the “attribute”, this is probably what you can call our guilty pleasure. We both just LOVE bread and cheese. As decent bread is often hard to find in many places of the world (except for France, Spain, and Belgium), we take every opportunity we can get to buy a baguette and a piece of cheese. When we’re in a bread and cheese region, you may find us eating this every single day.
