Thanks again for another great reaction to this story. Even though animated I think you still get a good indication of the 2nd Doctor's personality m use from his voice and way of expressing himself. I like how he automatically assumes the identity of the Examiner from the start, which also tends to be a very 2nd Doctor trait. Hartnell's Doctor did tend to get locked up a fair bit, though he did on occasion impersonate someone to get his way (as in The Romans), but it is something the Doctor does increasingly from now on. Also, I think you'll start seeing scenes from the 2nd and 3rd Doctor's eras that may remind you of tbing in episodes of New Who, especially the RTD and Moffat eras, for whom these stories were their first. There are echoes of this story in Victory of the Daleks, and I'm sure we'll point out other influences in future stories as you come up to them.

2021-12-09 11:28:27 +0000 UTCWhen Matt Smith got the job as Doctor he was pretty unsure how to approach the part, especially being so young. So he sat down and watched all the previous Doctors, and unsuprisingly it was seeing how Troughton played the character that was Smith's own lightbulb moment in how he could approach the character, so you will notice quite a few similarities as you go, all delightful as Smith both makes them his own and pays a respectful homage to his source of inspiration in his performance. It was also Smith that insitied his Doctor also wear a bowtie. I feel this is one of the better of the animations, not the best but solid and atmospheric. But its no match for seeing Troughton in action in the flesh however and I can't wait till you do. He's a personal favourite of mine and its an utter tragedy his era is the worst effected by the loss of episodes.
