Stand_1 Model Preview and a Few Days Away
Added 2022-06-19 10:38:18 +0000 UTCIt's time for another progress update! I finally have the full Live2D model for the stand_1 position with all* of the clothing items finished! Now I can start writing the final code for LR2 to load, colour, pattern, and display this model.
I had planned (drink!) to put this model into a little demo to show it off, but I've got a long-planned trip to head out for and I've completely run out of time. So instead I'm releasing the Live2D model, both in exported cmo3 format and the raw .moc3 format. If you're interested in Live2D stuff you can dig around and see how I've formatted things, how textures are laid out, and how the morphing zones are arranged. If you know Live2D better than me you can also make suggestions on how I can improve things! A quick note: all of the textures are greyscale; they are going to be coloured inside of Ren'py in the final version.

Most of my time lately has been spent getting the last batch of clothing items added to this model (including a whole bunch of accessories, cum marks, and pubes, which I realized I had stored in a different folder), but there have been some other improvements as well. There's now an additional morph parameter "ShoulderWidth", which is useful for making very petite or very large characters look more natural. The breast texture swaps out at smaller sizes to make it look a little more natural. On the rendering side I've further improved my output file organization, which should help for future poses.
One promising thing that's come out of this improvement so far has been file size. The exported model, containing all of the textures necessary for a single pose, is 16 MB. The equivalent images in the current LR2 setup comes out to 113MB, so a 7x size improvement. That means A) I can fit a lot more stuff into LR2 before it becomes annoying to download and B) A lot of these textures can live in RAM, which should mean performance can be much faster if managed properly. I'll have some display benchmarks once I get the time to write the LR2 display code.
Next up is to do a whole bunch of code writing and have things displaying quickly and properly. Unfortunately I've got a long-planned trip (which I never imagined would conflict with this update; sorry!), which is going to have me away from my main computer for about a week. I'm going to try and fit in some event writing while I'm away, so there will still be some work done, just nothing on the Live2D front.

*A couple of clothing items had janky renders and I've left them out for now. They'll be re-added when I loop around to the rendering side of this process again. There are a couple new clothing items to make up for it, including a ball gag and a wedding dress.

Not with the next update, I've got to get this Live2D display stuff squared away before I can bite something like that off. It IS on my radar though!
