May 7th Update

This week I busted butt, and I managed to get the models I did last week completely retopologized, and rigged.

While I'm sure they'll end up needing small adjustments here and there, they are ready to go, and next week I'll work on some animation for them.

I'll be making another post for any patrons who want to download the models, if I haven't put it up already.

Unrelated to these models, I wanted to get feedback from you guys.  If the game had a few RPG elements, specifically, menus to cast spells, would that be something that would bother you?

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

hi i think the work is going very well but do you thing there will be another public relase after?

Awesome!

Kravenar Games

The idea was you'd go into spell casting mode, and you can aim the camera at different things. As you do a menu would pop up in front of the object/enemy giving you choices of a few spells you can cast.

That engine is amazing...

Ideally, I think the player should cast spells with a button press (or presses) unless you're turning this into a turn-based game. Unless I completely misunderstand your question or what you conisder a "menu," having to use menus to cast spells in a direct-control stealth/action game sounds like thoroughly bad idea. Do you mean "menus" like the equipment selection popups in the Metal Gear Solid series or weapon wheels like in GTA V and Saints Row? Where the menu is just used to choose your currently "equipped" actions, but you still just use a button or two to "cast" those actions? That sounds fine, maybe great. If you mean digging through a skill list like in Final Fantasy and confirming menu selections to take action: please, please no. The pause-time-to-menu-select in FFXV was cumbersome at best, in my opnion.

Looks pretty good, I actually wasn't expecting the bird one to be that big.

That One Guy Who Never Pledges

The pig guys could be... bigger.

I enjoy some RPG lite features like unlocking spells. The ability to increase power of spells and length of time for charmed enemies would be sweet

InterLEWD Creations

that's a good point! I plan on making the timer tick fairly slowly, and would more be influenced by actions taken when while you have charmed enemies with you, or perhaps affected by how well you do the initial charm itself. Additionally, hopefully there will be some other reasons and things to do stealthed besides just charming enemies.

Not really a bother, seems like a quality of life thing, i would like to see the automatic scene where enemies get horny and initiate themselves as a togglable feature, i take stealth super slow and methodically, and im sure that having a timer would not mesh well with my play style, but it might for others, so i think a simple toggle would be ideal in settings.
