December 24th update (Merry Christmas)

So this week was a little shorter, but I still got a few things done.

I found a really nice outline plugin that could do outline effects without any type of post processing without adding a ton of draw calls. This week it finally updated to work in my project.

For some reason the creators did not include a way to turn it off or on, but that wasn't hard to go back and add in.

Now enemies and collectables, things you can interact with, these will all highlight as you look at them. It will help you know what target you are currently looking at.

I also bought some really nice particle effects systems. These are miles above what I can do, and so I'm going to be using them when I can. I started by updating the teleport effects, and I think it gives it a bit of a punch.

Finally I added/ combined some spells.

Meridiana now has a shield spell, to act as sort of a block.

She can use this spell to block attacks and projectiles. I haven't quite decided if I'm going to have it take damage, or just a set number of hits, but either way she can't just block forever. (Easier might be to just have it drain stamina while up).

The block will also be used to push enemies. If the player holds the button down, it will go into a block, if they tap it, it will do a push in whatever direction the player is holding the direction keys. I thought throwing enemies and badguys is a lot of fun, so I wanted to make sure to include it.

The next thing I want to do is build her basic attack, but that will wait until next year!

As I said last week, because this week is christmas, my birthday (the 27th) AND new years, I am taking the week off. My next update should be on January 8th,
