Undertale: Frisk's Journal - Day 3

The Inn was terrible. The room I had was next door to the loudest snoring I have ever heard. I couldn’t sleep there even if I tried. Luckily the Innkeeper refunded me the money. So I’ve decided to head towards the restaurant called Grillby's and sleep there. Apparently I’m not the first person to do so after staying in the Inn. Not wanting to bother them any further, I went to the next area. To my surprise, Sans was there. He offered me to go to Grillby’s and not wanting to be rude I’ve decided to take up his offer.

Back at Grillby’s, which is honestly good because I did skip breakfast, Sans talked a lot about his brother and how he tried to be part of the Royal Guards. Then when he was talking about a Talking Flower, I suspected he was talking about Flowey. But while he thinks it's an Echo Flower doing it (flowers that can actually record your voice), it's definitely about Flowey talking to his brother. So I’m not the only one that Flower is messing with. And to a nice guy like Papyrus too.

After that I continued my journey. They call this area Waterfall for all the falling water around these parts. I’m starting to see a pattern with these names. But as I made my way through the tall grass I saw this person in full armor looking down towards my way. I don’t think they saw me, but I did see them talk to Papyrus. He told this Undyne that he fought me but failed to capture me. She plans on getting me myself and Papyrus understood. He did seem to want to help me but it had to be hard for him to betray everything you’ve been working for all your life for a person you met a day ago.

Then I accidentally stepped on a wet spot and she almost speared me. Luckily she didn’t attack. But I wasn’t the only one hiding among the grass. A Monster Kid was hiding there too and he was a big fan of Undyne. He thought her looking at me was a positive thing. As I continued, using the Light to my advantage, Papyrus called me. Apparently he called every number sequentially until he found mine. Makes me wish I knew what my number is. He asked me about what I was wearing so thinking he is likely going to tell Undyne, I told him the truth but changed my outfit. That way I wouldn’t be lying to him and she wouldn’t find me out.

Turns out it was a bad idea. Papyrus lied to her with the exact outfit I decided to change into. So she was chasing me down as she kept throwing spears at me. I managed to lose her in the tall grass. And instead of finding me, she found Monster Kid. He was very excited to be touched by her. After another meeting with Sans, I saw this big octopus called Onionsan. He seems friendly but he worries that the waters are getting shallow. That’s not a good sign. I continued moving forward, even having a small concert with Shyren. I kept moving until I hit an area that required an umbrella to pass by.

This place is very convenient as there were buckets of them there. I took one and continued. Monster Kid saw me there and came along. We shared an umbrella but I didn’t mind. After all, how can he hold one without arms? Like some of the other monsters, Monster Kid doesn’t realize I am a human. So imagine how awkward it is to hear him talk about Undyne beating up the bad guys and humans wetting the bed knowing she’s after them. When we reached a point, there was a big ledge in the way. Monster Kid was kind enough to use him as a stepping stool to get up there. He said not to worry about him. He can find his way around things.

Though I do wish he was still there with me. Because right after that Undyne attacked me. And instead of throwing spears at me, they shot from underneath the wooden walkway. It's a good thing they give off a glow or I would have been skewed. Sadly, I reached a dead end and Undyne got me cornered. To ensure my defeat she cut the wooden walkway and sent me falling down who knows how far. I was knocked out for a while, having this weird vision of someone else meeting an unknown figure. I’m guessing it was a side effect from the Light.

As I came to, it turns out a bed of flowers once again saved me. These must be the most comfortable flowers to keep saving me from huge falls. It could be worse though, I could have landed in the trash. This area must be the dumping ground for the Underground. But some of the stuff here is things I recognize. I have the feeling we’re the ones throwing the trash here. But it's not just Humans who throw things out. There was another dummy like the one Toriel had. I paid it no mind but that was a mistake.

A ghost lived there. It apparently has a grudge against me because of a cousin of his that lived in the dummy Toriel had. What I said apparently spooked him out of it. And now this one is attacking me with missiles and a knife. Thanks to some early Light touching, I knew all I had to do was survive long enough for Napstablook to save me. Napstablook offered me the ability to follow him home and I figured I should since he did save me and all that. His house is small but laying there made me not want to move and relax. But if I want to save all the Monsters I have to move on.

I entered a shop run by a turtle called Gerson. Apparently he is an archaeologist who sells some weird stuff. I was carrying too much stuff and hoped to sell it but he told me no. If I wanted to sell stuff Gerson suggested selling it at the Temmie Village. He forgot where it was but I just so happened to find it while lost in some glowy mushroom plantation. They all seem nice but it does feel like I’m taking advantage of them. Maybe I should help that one go to College if I can get the money to afford it for her.

After that, I found a different path out. But it seemed like it led to a dead end. Even worse, Undyne found me. She told me that with my soul, Asgore will become a god and destroy the barrier. It's something I want to do, but the way she said it made it seem like it’ll be bad for humanity. As easy as it is to sympathize with their feelings, all this would do is restart that War I read about before coming down here. I would have been killed if Monster Kid didn’t show up when he did. But it sounds like he figured out that I was the Human she was after.

After Undyne took him away, I continued going forward. Passing by the Echo Flowers and two people’s desire to actually see the stars filled me with Determination to free them! The Prophecy they have mentions about an Angel coming down and clearing the Underground. I don’t know why, but I don’t like the wording of that. But before I could finish crossing the bridge, I was stopped by Monster Kid. As I suspected, he did figure out I was the Human. He figured since I was human we should be enemies, but he just couldn’t do it. As much as I wanted to help, I just couldn’t think of anything bad to say about Monster Kid.

He decided to go home but he tripped and fell over. I rushed to save him, especially knowing he’s hanging on with just his mouth. As soon as I pulled him up, I saw Undyne. Monster Kid was so grateful, he stood up for me against Undyne. I’m guessing it confused her to see a human save a monster. I’m glad I got to be friends with him. As he went home, I found another glowing light. I touched it and saw what was ahead of me. I’ve decided to go back to the Temmie Village to sleep there before facing Undyne once more.
