I agree. I gave up on the Alex series after the second wipe. I am really enjoying this series, and don’t want it to get stuck in the same cycle without progression. Anyway I hope the plot has actually moved onto new territories, maybe through the students to come to the academy. Finally, “being sighted” should be “being cited” as in citation.

My 2 cents is that while it's nice to have an arc which doesn't leave me actually feeling stressed because of living vicariously through the character, this does leave a few plot threads hanging. New york, as others have mentioned. The other red territories which may head for black soon enough. And what about Brittany? Surely the gnoll faction and Stoney the ogre aren't just going to call off their attempts to take her territory just because of this new school? Most of them won't be its beneficiaries. And I would have thought her fate would be top of the agenda for Eloria, being her girlfriend. It's a promising arc but feels badly timed. Additionally, I just wanted to ask for you please to let poor Eric have something he can actually keep! You did this with Alex too, and I know I'm not the only one who found that frustrating. Eric's Junktown, gone. His delves, gone. His peach trees, gone. His gold, gone. What happened to the rest of the gold from the goblin's bank? 2.4 billion couldn't have been the total when his last heist pulled off half a trillion. His milkmaids, gone. His friends barely remember him. Caliban betrayed him with the bank charter (he didn’t have a choice but that's the result - I really hope it turns out that Eric isn't impacted even if Ernest is. It would also make me feel better about Caliban if he manages to get the word out to that inquisitor who visited before - call in the cavalry) His revenants constantly sacrificed on behalf of one group of another. What is the point in him getting stronger if he never gets to build anything but his stats?! And I like Eloria (far more than Aurelia who ascended on the back of her son and then couldn't even be bothered to take out the silver Malice who wanted to kill him) but it always feels that she's taking advantage of him, intentionally or not. Apart from helping him with getting runic lore spells, what has she done for him? When he's saved her kingdom twice, gave her multiple armies, his daughter, and saved her life several times. And now there are thre inquisitors - if they make the link between Eric and their targets, he'll be in the soup again, forced to make choices between bad and worse. This has turned into a bit of a rant. I didn't intend it to become that. I do enjoy your work (wouldn't have joined your Patreon if not). But I'm frustrated that it seems this story is taking on the worst qualities of your other one. I was enjoying having a character who, yes, had to struggle for everything, but in the end at least benefitted from it. Frankly, in the last 100 chapters or so, I've almost wanted Eric to give up and die so he can have some peace! After all, like with Alex, it seems he's dimmed to be used and exploited by friends and foes alike until he finally expires... Please, please let him have some victories that actually mean something in the end!

Don't be surprised nobody can believe you are capable of anything else A lot of victories- but always preceded by x10 chapters of suffering. Just cringe at what is coming for every chapter you write that doesn't involve 1M deaths
