What a start to book 9. Daymmm.. cannot wait to find out more about the past and maybe finally see Alex reach his full potential. :)

Hi Bettina! I post all my docs via my PC, but I just checked a link with my phone. I can't find a way to enlarge it in google docs either! I've tried rotating the phone, allowing me to read longer lines, but sadly, I don't see any way to enlarge it directly. I'm very sorry about that! As soon as Google Docs levels up, I'll incorporating it :)

Still searching how to read. The font size in the link is tiny and can't be changed? - I have now found document version 2, which I can enlarge. I would still prefer a chapter index on patreon to an external document.

Bettina

How many chapters will the final book have? Definitely not complaining here, but since this is last book I’d like to at least have an idea of how much more to expect…

Abhishek

Honestly favorite book at the moment, love the chapters I just read them way too fast and have to wait so long for the next batch!

When are we. Going to find out what happened in between his sacrifice and reincarnation. He could easily go to the academy library and find a history book to find out what happened to change the world so much.

Sam Rothstein

My only issue is the constant sexual inactivity that leads no where. Constantly causes problems that he's been repeating repeatedly for 10,000 year and he knows it. It's one thing if for this iteration he was going to live a slice of life life but he's not. For 8 book we've known he is at the end of his reincarnation's and the MC knows it too! So why are we subjected to another relationship that everyone knows will bring nothing but problems he doesn't need. No one is this dumb especially if it actually causes real quantifiable pain and destruction. At this point it is an overused excuse for introducing new characters that could be done in more interesting ways that don't waste our time. The desert princess was okay but to follow that back to back with the herbalist than the crystal chick. No, 3 strikes you out. Its bad enough we are on the 3 attempt at another school and he is still acting the same damn fool. He should have took the apprentice route for a year and did research and reconnasince for a year or so. That would have been a damn good read before just dumping him in over his head again like an idiot and basically repeating earlier books just changing names and locations.

It seems like a contradiction to me that cultivators will happily damn their future incarnations to get extra (demonic) power in their current life. And few people have much reaction to folks damning others to an eternity in hell after being a demonic sacrifice. But they suddenly clutch their pearls and point their fingers when MC takes their potential (in pearl form). They still get to reincarnate, and over many lifetimes they can eventually re-build their foundation. And even if they never get to be a cultivator again, that's still like >90% of the population. He's turning them into peasants, not an eternally tormeted slave.

At first, I did find the regression a bit jarring. As I continued to read, I started to think on the series as a whole. Especially the areas of cultivation that Alex has never really solidified due to the rapid pace of events and subsequent need to increase his power because of said pace. Namely those elements for which he has an affinity but never fully embraced. While he has progressed far along the path with elements such as water qi and dark qi. To the point that he now has almost complete control over water's deadliest representation in the Golden Realms (and most likely all realms in this universe), or, in the case of Dark Qi, has conquered aging to the point he is all but a true immortal (can still die but only if is brain is fully destroyed). With others such as wood and spirit, he has gained more in ways to commune with his surroundings and enemies rather than direct physical attacks or defense. But there are elements that have seemed to be left behind, or maybe neglected is the correct term. Not out of any purposeful decision, but because Alex has never been given enough time to explore these affinities that he has. Whether exploring these affinities through what seems to be a slightly differing mindset so far leads to him leaning more towards a wujen's arts or it all gets incorporated into more body cultivation, or a combination of both. I think in the long term it will lead to a more rounded, more divine, foundation. Also, I think this "regression" is good for Alex in general. Not just for his cultivation. I think it may allow him to reconcile how dark of a character he had become. A literal god of death, even if only taking his first steps. Being forced to protect yourself and those you care about to the point of killing on an almost constant basis. To have memories of prior lives given back and all you see is the killing hate of what is essentially a god follow you through those lives killing untold numbers of loved ones? That leaves a scar. In Alex's case that was turning him into someone that I don't even think Alex was comfortable with being. Hence his revulsion at seeing a reflection of a part of himself that is currently locked in his core. If Alex is to truly become a god of death, perhaps one that sits in judgement of the dead with his Soul Cleave ability, he will have to temper his killing with a balanced mind that can judge the souls without bias. Even if they are his enemies. Especially so if they are his enemies. As can be seen toward the end of book 7, he was beginning to forsake his personal code when it came to removing cores. While he did renew that oath to himself prior to the final chapters; how easy would it be for him to slip when forced to fight against all the hate that his enemies bring?

What’s the release schedule for Alex chapters at the moment? Does anyone know?

Catherine

As constructive criticism as for this latest book, if someone hasn’t read the previous novels I would see the writing as excellent and be drawn into the world being presented. But having read the whole series this edition of the story just rubs the wrong way since the MC ha been regressed due to the writing herself into a position where they made the power requirements for Alex’s future advancements too ridiculous to be believable I.e multiple jade cores or higher to advance through each stage of gold thus this RETCON and regression for book 8. As well as a THIRD academy trope arc in only 8 books. It feels like a lack of creativity in finding a new challenge for the MC. Thus far if I wasn’t a supporter of this patreon which I will continue to be but if I had waited to read Book 8 when it is released I would have gotten frustrated and skipped whatever amount of the book it takes for Alex to get back to his previous fighting strength because regression in this category of fantasy is neither fun nor enjoyable to read

Am I the only one having trouble with the Silverfox chapters? I'd definitely much rather read them on this platform; the docs are opening out of order or previous chapters and it's confusing me probably more than it should, as it's one of many stories I read by the chapter..

Chance

The writing is as good for book 8 as the last novels but like a mosquito bite that won’t stop itching the RETCON you did setting our MC back from his power he had last book still irks

chad osborn

I understand he's making different technique versions of what he made before, but whats the danger? He's either free of the gods or he isn't. I understand starting over but he's using his experiences to create them. I literally don't understand why they are forbidden. As gods are gods, they should know he's back, a constant lookout for the guy who killed a god and the person in charge of the river of souls is really warranted. I love the new non aggressive direction, and by that I mean the main character has some real support, adversity is fine, it just seems weird.

Revan694

Was left on the floor of the Arena along with the other champion prizes as he went for DonFang with any luck one of his companions snagged them before they ran off to the torture room. Hoping we are getting new chappies this week ^ ^

Iain Grubb

Spoilers. I thought by getting the death infused fangtianji he gave up access to the jade tome. I'd agree with your thoughts on the wujen aspect

Witch

I am wondering if he finally got the jade time he was supposed to in the last book for winning. This whole new shift to a new realm seems to be setting him up to become a wujen rather than a body cultivator which will likely strengthen his foundation to as close to divine perfection as possible when it and the wujens stats merge with the previous body cultivator foundation he has when it is unsealed

Ben Semmes

Lol, authors still doing that bs eh? Started on their other story and hoboy. Author is such a one trick pony it's brutal.

Emby

I have a feeling we are not done with Alex’s pervious family. It’d be sick if that’s the endgame.

Abhishek

Not digging it either so far. I thought we got past all the taking things/people away from MC. I get that it's hard to do progression when he slits the throat of a god, but just make super gods/aliens or whatever if that's the reason.

Nathan Coppernoll

Not a big fan of the reset and back to scratch idea but MH has taken me on an amazing journey so far, excited to see how Alex’s final journey will progress.
