Forgot to post the Val art to here, i thought the pants came otu really well, i think the hatching texture looks nice on the full red though you sorta have to pull the full image up to see it.
I haven't really done this before but i did a mini tutorial on rendering the Camo Jacket

starting from the base flat colors here.
i then took the camo texture file (which the commissioner provided) and just clipped the file onto the flat. This technique on coloring it would actually work with any pattern, i used a similar method for the shirt on the Waterbomb Val art. Would also work for like any kind of flannel or sweaters with patterns on them.
This part is rather subtle but i used the skew/stretch tool to adjust the pattern to match the perspective more, stretching it wider on the bottom and thinner towards the top. just helps align it in the right plane.
After that, using a flat brush with Multiply layer effect, i painted over the camo pattern painting in the folders that i sketched in on the sketch layer. I do use some blending on this part as well just to smooth out areas but leaving some of the texture and edges from the brush helps sell the folds as like actual creases. this part takes probably the most "knowledge" knowing where to put folds, using references is going to be your best bet here, When I draw clothings folds, i try to think in Triangles. Triangles as a shape are the building block of shading.
I felt it was too dark so i put a layer on Screen mode to just bright up the jacket and add more color variation to it. Helps it feel more like real texture. In particular some of the shadows felt too dark so brighting them up i thought looked nice. Since we are using screen and multiply, those dont draw over the camo pattern and let that stay visible.
Finally, its time to go back to the layer with the camo pattern on it. I love CSP's liquify tool here. We can use the pinch and expand mode to adjust the camer pattern to make it look less flat and more follow the contours of the folds. Pinching the pattern in where the folds are heaviest helps here. and expand around the area where the center of her arm would be. I use this method also when doing texture on tights as well.
I dont know if this is helpful at all, but ill try to occassionally include some stuff like this in the future. If anything, for non artists it might be interesting to just see some of the behinds the scenes parts of drawing.
