Alternate Universe #11: In A World with Barbarian Kriemhild!

“I've always felt like an outcast in my own family. Our village has lived off the land for generations and conflict has never been further away from our doors but, despite that, I’ve always been drawn to it.

My ancestors used to tell amazing tales of battles that probably never happened. Tales about the times of plundering. About combat; about slaughtering, slavery and ra…paciousness. I grew up with those tales and promised myself I'd be ready if those times ever came back.

It's no secret my father wanted a boy to work the land and it's even less of a secret he doesn't like the girl I turned out to be. He always tried to take those demons away from my head; telling me stories of wealth; commercial routes and prosperity. How our village managed to overcome those old times with negotiations and trades.

I used to pretend I listened to his tales but after the sun went down I would meet with his own father in the outskirts and learn everything I could about the old ways. That was the best times I ever had. I spent entire days watching the sun slowly go down over the horizon so I could finally sneak out of my embellished prison and be free for a couple of hours.

I used to come back home with more bruises, cuts and excuses than I can now remember; and a bigger smile than I'll ever be able to muster again. I trained fast and I trained hard. I became someone everyone would fear; everyone but my grandfather, until illness took him.

I was young and I was left alone. With my family having a second born to look after I had nothing to hide anymore. I built my own hut in the outskirts; where grandpa and I used to train; and I lived off the hunting; selling whatever leather I didn't need for myself… But damn if I put a lot of leather to use. No one ever spoke to me more than necessary, no one ever negotiated, no one told me a tale again.

After all those years I still rushed towards the shipyard when the horn rang loudly today. As I've come across half the village running the other way I've realized I'm alone in this one; just as many times before. Nobody takes my land and my home, nobody; if the gods are willing that is. If not... let my father have his tale.

But new tales where told of that day. That’s where it all began. That’s when stories became about me, while I lived them, not listen. It was that day that I started down the road that lead me to my throne and my crown, when the name Kriemhild first past lips as the Conquering Queen.”

That’s our ol’ Battle-Axe! Well, young Battle-Axe, rather! Kriemhild the Barbarian, a heroine or hardass in the making, and a companion we’d want on our side come any long road to adventure! What about you?

This Alternate look is even a new look on a new look. Original Barbarian Kriem, the grown-up Queen of Mean, had a bulkier look back in our old Pure Wild Packages, and a mask to strike terror into her foes. For this one we decided it better to give her an origin to fit her youth, a real warrior look that we can all get a fresh look at. We kept her usual hair because of all the ones we tried, it was simply the most badass… Of course, we also had to go with the hide leather, because there isn’t anybody else in the whole beWilderversewith a bigger leather fetish than Kriem, is there? To complete the look we decided to switch out her usual collar (it was too modern) for a tooth-fang earring. It was originally going to be a nipple piercing instead, since that’s how she rolls, but it just didn’t work out as sexy as the idea. Painful is the word we’d use. Besides, we couldn’t get away with the top off and just the straps on a public post. It’s safe to say there’s a bit of an Assassin’s Creed inspiration there too, there’s just something about that theme that suits our anger cannon so well, don’t you think?

PS… You wouldn’t believe how hard it is to find a good axe these days. Guns? Easy. Axe… Bah!

So that’s 11 worlds, signed, sealed and delivered. Ranging from Fantasy Reimaginings to Sexy “What if onlys”. We’ve also had 11 of our top ladies take to the stage and have you fans dictate their alternate lives, but we’re still in the hunt for the last one to cap dozen, now aren’t we?
