NTR v0.12 Feature Poll: Infinite Saves vs Gallery

Gather round beWildernauts! Come one and all! We’re kicking off this week with something we think y’all are going to like to hear, and we’re pretty hyped up ourselves to get our fans involved in the nitty-gritty of the titty game making! Let’s get into the business of the girls’ business!

So boys and girls, we’re getting closer and closer to Noemi’s v0.11, which is good news in and of itself. Now that it’s well into the loop of production, we wanted to turn the thinking towards the next Noemi go around, expected to be September 2020. It’s time that Noe get herself a tech build now that two of her game’s character arcs offer stuff to sniff out, and v0.12 is going to be just that. It’ll still come with a couple of scenes to see, but the focus will be more on improving the engine’s UI portions, then giving a boost to the Gameplay Outcomes to find if there is content to spare… But we’re getting ahead of ourselves, we’ll leave those specifics for the v0.12 teasers when the time comes.

What we do want to discuss today is the big feature that v0.12 will bring with it. Since we’ll be setting aside time to really work the UI for some things out, this will be the optimal time to include one of two key quality of live improvements to the game while we have a month’s update that won’t be mostly cranking as many CGs as we can. The choice is between a completely revised save/load UI expansion, the Infinite Save system as we’ve been calling it, or a Scene Replay Gallery system that’ll let players re-watch unlocked scenes individually. Now before we go into a little detail on each option, let us say it now: Both these features have been highly requested, both these features will add a lot to the player’s experience, and both these features are a planned part of our final releases. Simply put, both these features will be added to the game, the point of today’s poll is to determine which of them the fans want the most and the soonest.

Alright, let’s take a look at what each choice’ll mean for us, before we let y’all have at the ideas some!

Infinite Save System – For those more recent fans among us, you may not know that NTR uses the same save system that AoH launched with back in its early days. Yes, it’s true. In fact, that modular part of the engine is the only real shared codebase between the games… or, it was, because since then we’ve added an overhaul to AoH’s saves, now referred to as the Infinite Save system. It includes the ability to have up to 99 Save Slots built in (as opposed to NTR’s 8), with an explorer window added to allow for even more saves to be tucked away into other folders. The UI was expanded as well, to allow for even more heads up on what data is being held in the save file. That’s what we want to add to NTR with this option. We want all that included with Noemi, and honestly the only reason we’ve not switched her to the new version already is the amount of version time the UI redesign needs to make it look like a part of NTR. Well, now we’re making time, so is this what you as a fan would like us to use it on?

Voting for this Means: Exponentially more Save Slots to use, clearer UI to handle Saving/Loading, more info on individual Save File Content.

Gallery Mode – The other major option is a replay feature, so that players can return to their favourite scenes as and when they like. A simple idea, but a somewhat complex implementation. Now, ever since we’ve built the NTR engine from the ground up, we’ve kept in mind that this was going to be a feature we would want for sure, so we prepared the structure of the game in a way that would make this quite doable. The only thing that’s been stopping us so far is… you guessed it… the UI! This one is a lot more work to do than just reskinning and tweaking the AoH version for use in NTR like the Save System option, mostly because AoH doesn’t have one yet, but thanks to the underlying code we’re confident we can add this in with a single Tech Version, even if it ends up being a more basic layout than what a final version may bring (though we’ll be aiming for something polished). With it, the game will keep a track of not only your individual game progress, but an inter-playthrough master progress, so once unlocked, scenes will be viewable from a special gallery in the main menu even if you start a New Game. Isn’t that a sweet treat?

Voting for this Means: A new Gallery accessible in the Main Menu which will allow players to watch unlocked scenes. It also comes with a Master Scene Unlock Tracker. Please note however, voting for this in NTR does not mean the feature will be more likely to appear in AoH sooner as the way scenes are processed between the games varies greatly making it more than a UI task, and so bare that in mind.

So there we have it. Those are the two biggies on our list as of right now, and we’re more than amped to hear which is the fan favourite. We’re going to leave this poll up for a little under three weeks, until August 14th, which will allow all of July and early August’s beWildernauts to have their opinion heard on the matter. That’s the last day we can leave it up though, as after that we’ve got to turn the results into a plan of development that’ll be ready when September starts. We’ll aim to be including the chosen option into our v0.12’s release. The less popular option will be included in a later build, however we can’t say at this time exactly when that will be as we focus on content releases as much as possible.

Alrighty, how’s that for a Monday maker? Time to have your vote added, while we make sure v0.11 gets here as soon as possible. You fans have your say, and until we have the results…
