2112 - Rush - Summer of Prog

Summer of Prog is back and I'm reviewing a long requested classic: 2112 by Rush (donated by a fan, thank you!) 2112 was the album that brought Rush into the limelight, the band consisting of bassist and vocalist Geddy Lee, guitarist Alex Lifeson and drummer extraordinaire Neil Peart. The title track is a side long progressive rock gem and also features tracks like Train to Bangkok, The Twilight Zone and Tears. Let's dive into this classic and start off Summer of Prog with a bang!

Maybe it’s the band Rush that’s assumed control! Maybe the record company are the Priests, and they’ve assumed control over their own music. Neil’s lyric are masterful here and the mythology is so imaginative and intriguing. Rush is just a one of a kind band. On Tears, Geddy Lee’s voice is lower and tender. But you’re right, his singing is right on pitch and so powerful. He is undeniable! I agree this album definitely takes them away from just being another Zeppelin clone and into uncharted waters! I love the review! I always learn something from these videos! See you on the flip side! 🎵🎸
