Many Faces of Our Kitty Catwoman

‘Hi there!’ to each and every beWildernaut reading this, we’ve got a nice little treat for you all, this one involving our own Cat… but that’s not all, we actually have a bit to talk about too. You see, we are trying something new and exciting with her! Want to know what? We warn you, there may be spoilers!

So, if you don’t want to hear any such [SPOILERS], head down to the next Italics paragraph and enjoy the outro update afterwards

So then, let’s get into it. We are including character reputation and relationships in our upcoming scene with Cat. What appears to be one scene is fact three, as the relationship dynamic between Nat and Cat can shift depending on the choices and interactions you may or may not have had with her to this point. What does that mean? Well, let’s take the coming scene for an example, and enjoy a nice pic too…

*Rawr* …

In this coming update’s scene list, Cat will make an appearance for all in what is the initial event in her subplot event line. What will be different is how she feels about Nat. We won’t tell you exactly what or why, we’ll let you all find that out for yourselves in-game, but Cat comes looking for Nat in the middle of the night. If she has heard or seen Nat in action before and likes what she sees, she’ll come happily, if not she’ll come reluctantly… if she needed to act on Nat’s behalf before, she will come bearing demands! That’s not all either as Nat herself will speak and think differently too, reflecting pass choices effects on her current mental state.

When we say we’re doing something new, we admit that is not quite true, but is worth a bit of hoopla. This feature is a stable of big budget RPGs like well… anything with the BioWare label on it really, but a big budget game we are not sadly. That’s not going to curb our ambition though and unlike many of the adult games out there, we are aiming as high as we can. Now that we have the power of two… and adult developing Army of Two if you will… we are making use of that boon. 

You’ll see in this scene that the plot heavy parts may use the same art (for now), and but have entirely different dialogues. Each will shed a little, but different, light in what’s going on in the background, things Nat hasn’t been around to see or hear, things Cat has picked up in her own personal story. This scene will be a trial of our tech’s ability to handle this feature, and Spook’s ability to write it, if all goes well we will see more of this dynamically shaped relationship with Cat as the event line and possibly even beyond and with others too. Our long-term aim to use this as another layer of player feedback with the beWilderverse that permeates all the aspects of the game and works hand in hand with the pathing in the story, but we might have to wait until the next AoH game to see it in full action… still a step forward with this update none-the-less.

We hope you enjoy spending time with Nat and Cat together, we know we did! It’s the start of a beautiful friendship, or is it the beginning of a catfight beyond compare? That’ll be on you! So be sure to try our various paths this time around if you haven’t already, there is more than a rewarding reason now!
