A Little Look See: NTR’s Old Title CG

Hello again everyone, time to get rowdy and wilder once more! We’re still hard at work aiming to bring NTR’s v0.1 to the masses, but we’d be remiss if we let that hold us back from our usual chat with you all. Today we’ve got a little look at what might have been, just for you backers, as we show off our previous title page / main menu image for NTR. Here it is for y’all’s viewing pleasure!

So that’s what we had up until recently. We originally made this image way back during the earlier stages of concept development and there are some things we really like about it. We really enjoy the head-to-head stand-off between Noe and Sal, as well as between the restaurants themselves (yes, that is part of the inside of Salvatore’s Deli). Sal’s got the liquor and varnished wood Mise-en-scène to show his style over substance, while Noe literally stands by her cooking and the homey feel of her shop… we enjoy those little touches.

However, there are some things we’re not so happy about it. As our Happy Birthday post from early in this month shows, the longer we keep at this, the better we get… and this image shows a little bit of dating if we are honest with ourselves. Both restaurants lack detail and the living atmosphere we’ve come to expect from them, particularly Sal’s wide counter top. Another aspect we didn’t like was highlighting Sal too much. While he plays a vital role in the story, the game is first and foremost about Noe and her journey / changes. She’s the protagonist and we thought she should be front and centre as the title character on the title screen… makes sense, no? So here’s what we came up with instead!

Now then, that’s our piece for today. We’re going back to the CGs… damn is it hard to stay away from the girls when they’re posing for us… but we’re still aiming to keep on schedule.
