Future Game Versions

So, as you already know, I've been thinking on how to divide the tier game versions since the Softcore / Explicit system doesn't seem to appeal anyone.

I'm thinking on changing it to "Standard Edition", "Exclusive Edition" and adding a new "Collectors Edition" for the  upmost tier/s. All versions will be explicit regardless of your tier.

The other tier rewards will remain the same. This only affects the version of the game published for each tier.

It will also make my life easier since I won't need to make any type of censorship during the story which didn't help the game anyway.

So, what do you guys think?

Comments

Hi all, I know this is an older post but I just got access to it and I think it's worth some feedback. So here it goes... I agree with your premise and I support the decision within. Not to trivialize the game in any way but the key element it has in its favour is the adult aspect to it (The page is captioned "Parody Games for Adults (+18)" after all). There are literally tens of thousands of other games available if people want one of those, just hop on Steam or head into town and you can get one for about the same price a mid-tier patreon donation. There are even plenty of other adult games available just here on Patreon too if people want something of this nature. What sets AoH apart (and worth the patronage) in my opinion is the quality of the game, the content, etc. around the adult parts but I can easily imagine that a censored version of the game would feel like it was missing an important part to it. It feels a little like a cake with no frosting, its enjoyable but its lacking the thing that really make it tasty, you know? I also like the idea of the Standard, Exclusive and Collectors editions mentions above too. it instantly reminds me of the seating system on airplanes (though lets hope its not nearly as wide a tier gap when it comes to money). The standard edition says to me "You'll get a good, well rounded game (sexy stuff and all), you'll enjoy it and if you end up wanting more we've got some extra content for you in the Exclusive version". With the Exclusive edition I can see the potential for the fans, the ones invested enough in the series, to get the most out of their money. The added content for these version could be highly influenced by feedback or requests by the fans (such as by the hero/villain polls) and, as you said, this is a good chance to add added depth to characters and events not just add fetishes to the game or additional CGs to existing scenes. I know as a guy who likes to see depth to character rather than empty shells, the option to get more insight into character lives, motives (etc) that goes beyond the story at hand is always a big plus and is what would make me consider the Exclusive Edition as an option (of course I do still want to see some bonus sexy stuff and character cameos etc, not just deeper character development alone). For the Collector's edition, I'll be honest and say I thought it was a little underwhelming as put in the description above at first. I feel like if theres a significant step up from the Exclusive Edition that there should be some pretty significant addition to it as well, some super awesome thing that maybe only a few people might expressly want but would pay handsomely to get it (like a collector would). Concept art is nice but (for me at least) is not the biggest attraction and WIP are pretty cool actually but I don't know how much appeal they have to others. These were my first thoughts however... On second thought I said to myself that its actually not so bad. When thinking practically, who really wants the creator working on what could be elaborate content (if going with a top tier like the airlines do and make it ridiculous in feature and cost) that very few people would see at the cost of working on content for the Standard / Exclusive versions? With that in mind, maybe a reigned in top tier that's closer to Exclusive version is much better for all. We can always make the Super Awesome Bonus Edition another time if people really wanted it. That's pretty much what you said above though so it's cool, but maybe keep an option for the Super Fans when it becomes practically possible to do so? All in all, good thinking. I think switching to this kind of system would be helpful to the game's development in the long run and that everyone making a donation gets what they pay for, be it a basic but full game, an in depth and partially community shaped game or the additional collectibles and behind the scenes stuff (like art and WIP features). Hope this feedback was worth the read and that it helps. All the best with it, - Hero Spook2099
