Gari is just about the most anti-Taijutsu character, if you were in a situation like that, would you want to taken the risk of switching to say Might or even Guard and see how much of an explosion you could tank? You never know what ace someone has up their sleeve. I guess I made him a bit too cautious for the fight, I'll try to do better.

2026-02-20 16:32:26 +0000 UTCI guess the secret had to be out at some point, but seems a bit forced. Even with the disadvantage he was under protecting the genin. The fact that he kept putting himself on the defensive with swift seems highly counterintuitive to his plan of protecting the genin as well. Add to that the reversion in him fighting technique to not fluidly change between forms, and the cost of stamina taken by constant shift(which means he clearly wasn't gonna win a prolonged fight). All of it just seems like he made the worst decisions possible throughout. Like I said, really don't mind the secret being out, but just feels like a disappointing way to bring it out. If anything having it be in a mission involving his own team would have also added a lot of other character dynamics to the situation.

2026-02-20 16:16:54 +0000 UTCI mean, you've got to realise, he was fighting at a disadvantage. He was fighting off two Jonin at the same time - both of whom are experienced, Gari is one of those who was chosen to be brought back with the Reanimation Jutsu in the fourth war, and Monga was the one who defeated him *swiftly*. Yuuki didn't want to involve the Genin because they were fresh, the only reason they were able to keep up was because Yuuki's Wooden Root Constructs were helping, while Yuuki himself as you saw couldn't exactly go hand-to-hand with Gari's Landmine Fist and Wind Ninjutsu is only so effective when your opponent can defend himself, though I get why back-to-back losses could feel that way, now that he can use his full-strength he'll get some very nice wins. I hope that makes it more understandable.

I get how he struggled this chapter, and the last with illusions, maybe it's just how he's constantly being handed losses, but as of right now he should be one of the most dangerous people in the verse. He's the best in hand to hand, to the point that his attribute distribution can be used as if it had no disadvantages, technically being better than even the kages, he's cracked in ninjitsu, to the point few can outclass him, and lets not forget the wood release. That's been said, but not shown, I just have a hard time seeing how any genin can even slightly keep up.
