Being an underboss for a criminal organization has made you a confident gunslinger who lives fast and goes through relationships faster. But frequent visits to a local business (and the cute but grim-humoured manager who works there) have inspired you buy it outright. The problem is, your purchase has tipped your hand to a rival mafia, and they pay you a visit. Can you turn it into an opportunity to disappear and get close to your crush?

The contemporary mafia story won by a hair in the polls, and here it is~! (Please don't worry if your favourite lost, I try to re-use poll options when it's a close one like that.)

Warnings: 'dark' jokes about people struggling with addiction. Gun violence, quiet deaths, funerals, mention of blood and corpses, organized crime, profanity but especially religious profanity. Nothing too detailed though~!

Selude thoughts with some spoilers: Contemporary stories always end up feeling rom-com to me when I write them, I don't know why. I'm not very experienced with them, but I love making pop culture references so it's fun~! I leaned into 'writing what I know' and it was nice to try and make the sounds and dialogue of a funeral home. I like that the characters have an established relationship too~! As always it's kind of a slow lead in, but now the stage is set and we can have some romantic, modern adventures in part 2. Please enjoy~!
