I think Kaye might have been thinking of "Witch Finders" from Hunter: The Vigil which was a sourcebook specifically about fighting mages, but not the focus of the entire splat. Hunter: The Vigil is really cool, you aren't empowered like in Reckoning. You're just normal folks and the scale can run from just a couple of guys like The Winchesters from Supernatural to something akin to The Federal Bureau of Control.

I reckon pre-Chronicle Vigil was instrumental in really building the later structure that gave us the Chronicles. Certainly was super influential on my own design.

wow we're really not giving the man his full title of GORGEOUS GARY GOLDEN If my memory is right, Salubri had True Celerity in tabletop - some of the rules stuff around Celerity is based on it not being superspeed per se, but temporal dilation. So True Celerity is the undegraded version of that personal time magic.

I've just done the museum as a Tremere and the thing that saved my skin was finding out La Croix apparently doesn't give a shit if you get spotted, cue me running around shooting out cameras and casting Trance on any guard the second I saw them. Not intuitive or satisfying, but it got the job done. I'd be curious to find out where Kaye got the impression Hunter the Vigil is about Witch Hunters specifically. The big difference between Reckoning and Vigil is Reckoning hunters recieve those minor powers you spoke about from supernatural entities called messengers and Vigil is largely more grounded with hunters having no abilities a regular human couldn't have, unless they're in the highest tier of play(conspiracy) in which case they can get something called an endowment which might be anything from being blessed by the pope to having access to a high tech government arsenal or even being surgically implanted with monster parts by a shady megacorp. Vigil also leans into the hunting consumes your whole life aspect. It's a candlelight vigil holding back the darkness and you're the candle.

You know, I've been to a museum or two in my life (more than a few, I'm a history major) and I don't think I've ever seen so many armed guards in any of them. But who knows, maybe a battalion of psychic guardsmen is necessary when you run a museum in vampire land.

i really recommend checking out the chronicles of darkness hunter: the vigil line when you get the chance. it was the first gameline that used tiers as a way of scaling power level, so you could have anything from super local 'me and my friends have to kill the vampire' to 'big pharma is hunting monsters for profit'. it also had a fantastic serial killer-themed splatbook. i haven't gone through the gameline in recent years but it has a special place in my heart as my very first world of darkness game.

I was also a huge sifl and olly watcher, and it's the reason I use the word "rock" as an affirmative to this day
