Could just be me reading too much into things, but now I just feel plain bad for Darcy, lmao I mean, she’s been cast out from society ever since her father passed, ostracised due to circumstances and factors entirely outside of her control, and forced to fend for herself for who knows how long - all while living among dangerous people and amidst society’s leftovers and waste. Besides Barf and (maybe) Aunt Ginny, nobody’s really given her a modicum of compassion and respect the way Emmy has. It’s no wonder Darcy still doesn’t trust her simply for acting within her parameters and, y’know… being nice - she’s probably never had the privilege of experiencing real kindness, and it’s ironic that a machine is showing her more humanity than all of *actual* humanity has shown her
