Those are more quirks than signs of malfunction, (also Emmy didn’t take the necklace from her room, she found it misplaced). I think these are mostly harmless behaviors that a lot of nandroids probably do when they’re alone.

It is interesting that the entire family is actually oblivious to all the flags that went up- borrowing necklaces, eating marbles, laughing at birthday cards. Only mom seems to have a sense, and even that may be no better than when you complain that your computer crashed because you had 20 apps open. None of them actually see Emmy as a person at this point.

Dominic, I just started following on Patreon, but the characters and story caught me right off the bat. I'm looking forward to seeing how this all turns out!

Wait then shouldn’t the software update work for Emmy to take on the increased work load because Franny seems to be a lot better after the update and she had trouble taking care of twin boys for years before then.. How could the company resolve for Emmy’s case? 🤔

I'm pretty sure the nandroids are intended to look after infants as well. (They corrected the flawed smothering logic for a reason, after all.) It seems more like Angela is worried that an increased workload might trigger more malfunctions, or that a malfunction could easily harm a newborn much worse.

Oh I thought it was the Dad, it makes more sense it was the mom to be more concerned of the child especially to consider giving birth to another child. The company might have to make a new, updated model to take care of newborns as so far the current model took care of adolescents a couple years shy of teens ever since they were 2-3 year olds…

I love what you did with the lighting on this one! Also, good to see some more character development on the parents :)

To deal with fears is to listen to them, so I'm happy to see that the Delaires are not pretending about their feelings. At the same time, these are the moments in which the soul of the family comes to the real test. I'm so curious!

They are basically having the same thoughts about Emmy that Emmy had about the outmode in the city

I think it's very understandable! Especially when you throw a new baby into the mix.

I don't want to sound heartless, but this seems like a reasonably good concern. If it where my child, and my baby, I'd have similar feelings I think.

Just a typo: Ted in panel 2 says "if anyone one".
Aside from that, I love how Angela and Ted are actually trying to balance the emotional aspect of knowing that Emmy does not have the intent to harm anyone, with the logical aspect of worrying about their future child's safety.
2021-08-19 19:13:32 +0000 UTC
So that why Angela was feeling nauseous in the previous comic. They are having a second baby and they are concerned Emmy wouldn't be fit to look after it.
2021-08-19 19:09:11 +0000 UTC
On the one hand, go Ted.
On the other hand, oh dear. That's actually a pretty reasonable concern.

If this is implying what I think it’s implying, then I will be really sad if they get rid of Emmy!

It was the mom who said that, not the dad.

How dare you, they haven’t even run diagnostics on Emmy yet. Her body is still cold as steel!

Now I don’t like what the dad said right there at the end over the framed photo of Madeline. It could mean they’re considering getting a new model for a future child, a new nanny bot with “improvements” the current model doesn’t have.

It definitely seems like Angela is much closer to seeing them as more than just robots compared to Ted, even if her thought process is still negative right now, I wonder how it will play out.

I appreciate that they aren’t laying the blame on Emmy, the mom admits she put way to much on her. But theyre not throwing caution to the wind and not worrying about it. This is a really strong characterizing moment for the parents. Very nice
