I like to think that logistically they could, but because this still takes place in the 1960s or whatnot, there are still some things that they are behind on, such as more efficient approaches. Like maybe they believe that it's improper to do such a "horrid" method rather than teaching the long way.

So... they need to learn about social/cultural nuances... that makes sense. But I'm intriged why they can't just "download" things like playing and dancing. Maybe once their neural structure is completed they can only integrate new knowledge in a human like fashion because it would be too invasive otherwise?
